  • Tatra Mountains, also called High Tatras, Slovak Vysoké Tatry, Polish Tatry Wysokie, highest range of the Central Carpathians. The mountains rise steeply from a high plateau and extend for approximately 40 miles (64 km) along the Slovakian-Polish frontier. About 70% of Polish national park is covered by forests and mountain pine scrub, and the remaining 30% are alpine grasslands, rocks and water. Almost 11 500 ha is under strict protection including mountain pastures, rocky peaks, mountain pine and part of the upper and lower montane forests.
We wanted to climb Mount Giewont but because of unfavourable weather conditions we had to retrace our steps. So we visited a valley called Wielka Polana Małołącka (not planned) and it also made us complete a circuit while witnessing some breathtaking views of the valley and majestic mountains around.
This picturesque park has a lot to offer to adventure enthusiasts, nature and photography lovers.
