One of the things I'll say about drafting a punter is that there's not a whole lot of concern as to how they translate to the NFL.
He knows how to kick in cold and wind too. Improved all 3 phases of the game. Let’s go
Watched the Iowa/Northwestern game at Wrigley and the Kid has a leg.
Nothing changes they are kickers who you can't touch.

@SPICE1988 Dom relies on athleticism and had limited DE experience to begin with. He's more suited as a lengthy, rangy LB hybrid, if anything. He's not a pure DE, and the Bears should've know that. Hell, he was even a Qb at one point, if I'm not mistaken.
He actually is very similar to DR. However, he will not be asked to do much this year. I'm hoping he turns into viable starter.

Poles is straight cooking. He absolutely won this draft. I actually liked the Tory Taylor pick with the last pick, people aren't seeing the whole picture. Taylor is going to help the defense so much. This top 10 defense may be a top 5 now, especially with this Austin Booker pick.
You forgot to mention, this 5th round pick is the Bears original pick traded for Ryan Bates. That means it was a high 5th. Next year we are planning to be much better, so the 2025 4th should be a low 4th. The spread between the picks might only be 10-15 spots, in order to fill a d-line need right now
Hell ya. That punter pick gave me heartburn. Great move. When Fields takes over for Wilson in Pitt, that 7 turns into a 4.

Booker has good physical skills and talent. He has a lot of upside. But he is raw and very inexperienced. He will need a few seasons to develop. He has the potential to be a bust, but his upside is definitely worth the gamble in the fifth round.
I don't think a 5th round pick can even be a bust. Busts are 1st-3rd round picks that don't work out. 5th round guys are usually depth pieces, I think this is a great grab.
But he’s not a 4th. If the bears are above average next year then it’s early 4th round pick.
If he puts on a bout 10 pounds and retains his speed and athleticism, he could start midway through next year. He has that "it" factor. Plays like his hair is on fire, and you cant teach or coach that.
He will not need time to develop he is not raw either

GM Poles is at it again being a magician when it comes to drafting positive players. Like he said when he got the job that he's building the draft. Solid sleeper of a pick up because an Edge player is something that the Bears are lacking on and finally this was address. Great drafting GM Poles.

This Was long overdue and most important it's more awaited by Bears fans. GM Poles hit not only a home run draft, but made it to the upper deck. He done something that no other Bears GM has done. Evaluate patience of great scouting and he check ✔️ off the books 📚. This is by far the best draft class of 24 since this year's women's WNBA draft class as Clark being top pick for the Fever. What a day being a Bear fan that's long awaited overdue. 🐻 Down.

Agreed. It’ll be interesting to see how the center Coleman Shelton will be for us and Ryan Bates if they try him at Center. Shelton started all 17 games last season

The draft just ended and I think it’s kinda crazy that Leonard Taylor didn’t go yet so do you think that the bears should pick him up for some more dt depth and hopefully some good play.

He can at least be as good as the Espinoza(resigned with Bills) guy that was somewhat linked to the Bears prior to FA(higher ceiling, though). I was listening to a Bears YT btoadcast prior to day 2, and they were screaming for Booker. I still would consider adding the Dolphins DE that's still available and has some experience with Poles(1 or 2 yr deal) or Yannick on another 1 yr deal. Booker could be ready in a yr or 2 to start.
See, he got a quality rusher. Field position matters, and that is why the Bear could afford a 4th round pick on the best punter to come out of college in the last decade.
Both picks A love the punter pick. He is like Reggie Roby or ray guy. He is fantastic at drop passing he ball near the 5 yard line he has roby leg he can help flip field position asap he is a defensive weapon. Pint from yo ten and the other team start from their 35 instead of at the bears 45 20 yard swing. Booker a good pick

I can’t give the draft better better than a B without a day one starting O lineman. Poles loves his reaches and retreads at left tackle and center I guess. I see I’m a dinosaur, those used to be foundational positions. I honestly think, since Poles was under talented lineman himself, he wants to see himself succeed through a long shot making good. He says he’s an O line guy, but O line is the only position he gets cute with. Where’s our o line Montez Sweat? Edwards or Edmonds? Moore? No trades, no big splash free agents, 1 solid O line draft pick in 2 years with no 1 pick. Not the way I would build a team, but I’ve got to run to the store for some hard candy I guess.
OK Sigmund fraud, he spent a 1st rounder last year and a 3rd rounder this year after getting Caleb, Odeunze and Sweat effectively rounds 1-2. QB, receiver and DE are also foundational pieces in dinosaur land, but I guess not in loser Bear land where they whine, cry and complain about everything.

At worst, Booker will be a rotational piece, sent in on obvious passing downs, plus he can fill in on STs. For a 5th round this was an excellent pick. He had 3rd round grades on a number of sports sites.

disappointing we took a punter in the fourth. Invested so much for our offense to score points and we take a punter instead of a lineman or dt. wasting a 4th on a 5th this year for a player who isn't guaranteed to be a started ever. My main issue with booker is he is 240 Lbs and if he gains weight he could lose his explosiveness as well as how raw he is as a prospect. Not a good value pick

Well Poles missed on better talent just like last year and the year before. This punter was gonna get drafted in the 6th or 7th round. Dont glamorize Poles overlooking and reaching. The Lions, Vikings and Packers had better drafts

If this punter is as good as everyone says, you need someone who can flip the field when you're in the bad field position. I saw a lot of poor punts last year that gave the opposing offense a short field to work with.

You get the pick from next year back, we have Mooney comp pick, it’s either a third or a 4th. Oh he took a punter in the 4th but Booker was on the board a 3 year defensive end project. Bears fans an hour ago, Oh woe is us, Poles is the worst he only got Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, Kiran Amegadjie, and Tory Taylor, but we needed an edge, Poles is the worst. 45 minutes later, wait what just happened? We got Booker? Just when the world is ending cause we didn’t get a DE in the 4th Poles fully goes and redeems himself. 🤣.

Give ryan poles credit for realizing that some of his early draft picks are busts. Velus Jones, d rob, and Trenton gill have all been bad. This roster on paper is light years ahead of what is was just 2 seasons ago.

Poles does it again. To get essentially a 3rd rounder for a 2025 4th rounder. Next years draft will be weaker than this year so great pick as far as I’m concerned.

@@brandonbass1717if you have the year you are expecting (more wins) you drafting later so it's lower value. It's not likely 6 quarterback get drafted in the top 12 pluse the offensive lineman and wideouts that went in the first that pushed very good defensive players further down in the draft will happen again next year. Unless, it's a 4th rounder you acquired from a bad team it's a very good trade especially since the Bears and "the experts" had a third round rating on him.
