- I GOT A PERSONAL COLOR ANALYSIS BY A PRO: I recently got a personal color analysis by a pro and today I want to share the experience. My personal color palette was broken down as 80% striking contrast and 20% lively bright and includes colors chosen specifically for me by John Kitchener. I've linked his information below along with the makeup swatches I share throughout. Subscribe here for more videos like this: bit.ly/2pFnkE7

Thank you so much for watching! During my session with John I also got my style essences done. I was classified as 30% youthful, 20% romantic, 30% classic, 10% high spirited and 10% natural ❤️
Hi Audrey. That means that we have several stylles in us.
So how do you know you're picking clothes best suited to you, with so many percentages to consider? I'm intrigued and would love to get an assessment!
I love all the dark greens that you wear so beautifully. I am looking for someone in the UK to do my colour analysis - do you have any recommendations?
@@wallyrbc me too!
So cool! John is doing my essences in less than a week. I’m so excited!
My mom got her "colors" done in her early twenties and has been impeccably dressed since then! It gives her such confidence in how she shops and the colors she brings into her wardrobe, unrelated to a seasonal approach. She has slightly different categories than the ones here, including "understated", "eye extension," "bold," and many more. She brings her book of fabric swatches with her every time she shops and it is such a useful tool!!
Wow, I want to get that done. I never understand my colors. In theory I have warm undertones but some warm colors make me feel like I'm going to explote and I'm not drawn to warm colors, they don't make me feel good. I've tried and tried and have ended up wearing neutrals. 🙃
@@Trythish maybe you're just not warm. Everyone, hair stylist, make up artists, friends, family have told me thay I'm warm but I never felt great in those colors nor with the foundations recomended. I went to get a color analysis done and was told that I have neutral undertone (which is different from the overtone). I have olive skin as well, but high contrast, so I'm a deep winter. Qhen she told & shoeed me that SO much (especially from the past) made sense. The biggest problem I've encountered now is people telling me I'm warm when I'm trying to get color matched for foundation or wanting to try a different hair color. 🤦♀️
@@vSz6 I have had the same experience. I’m a dark winter also and am neutral toned. I used to always gravitate toward warm colours, I think because I thought I looked good in them but also I did like the colours more than cool colours. I had a personal colour analysis done but didn’t really find it helpful because my colour specialist used the Absolute Colour System which I do not recommend. Seasons are better and more universally available. But it helped confirm that I am a dark winter. I will never forget a man I met in a makeup department store 12 years ago who was working for Chanel, he put on a foundation on me that I thought was too pink based and a dark wine coloured lipstick. I thought I looked vampy. He told me he had been a makeup artist for 20 years and those were my best colours. I walked away thinking he was insane. I will never forget him.
As a neutral olive, you are the only UA-camr who matches my coloring to a T, and I am selfishly so over the moon that you were color analyzed by THE John Kitchener! What a treat, thank you for sharing your experience 💗
One of the things I've started doing these days is saying "this colour doesn't look good on me" instead of saying "I don't look good in this colour". Sounds ordinary but makes a world of difference. For years I've thought there's something wrong with me, my skintone limits me, I can't dress stylishly. Most of this ideology comes from the society that surrounds me. They tell me I'm not good enough, they laugh at my experimental fashion. But unless I experiment, how will I learn?
Audrey I derive much of my confidence from your colour combination series. It taught me to think out of the box, to break rules and create newer combinations cuz that's what nature does too. Currently I'm experimenting with blushes and blush contouring and I'm blown away by how happy it makes me.
Your videos always make me really happy and encourage me to experiment and explore. You've helped me associate positive emotions with colours.
Interesting take on " color awareness " . For decades I showed horses professionally & learned to coordinate the horse's color & the rider's most flattering colors to present an eyecatching , pleasing picture to stand out in a sea of competitors . Custom show clothing designers , w/ endless arrays of swatches , were truly " artists " !
That's so interesting!
Audrey’s skin tone is sooo unique and she just so happens to be my skin twin 😜😂 I feel like I just got a free colour analysis!
Having had my colours done by a few people now, I can confirm that John Kitchener's colours are head and shoulders above everyone else. You are going to have an absolute ball playing with them. It's so radical to have a palette that is so personalised. If you're thinking about getting your colours done, John Kitchener is da bomb!
This was so interesting and his whole giant filing system of colors is amazing. He is truly talented. I’ve recently recognized I’m being drawn to a palette that includes rich and somewhat vibrant greens, teals, blues and gray. I had only one green top that I kept hidden away. I put it on yesterday to be different. A great thing happened. I felt instantly authentic. Inspiringly in coincidence, a friend said “that green is your color. It makes your eyes pop. That is you.” There’s definitely something to intuitive coloring.
Yes, similar experiences for me. 🙂
I love green! I’m a clear winter and it’s my favourite colour to wear
His approach is very similar to the woman who did my color analysis about 40 years ago. By not limiting it to seasons you get a much more accurate analysis, and you end up with so many more color options. Most of us don't really sit in one season.
You're right! Most of us have a secondary season as well -- we can wear colors from that palette that have the same clarity/undertone as our core palette and look just as good.
As a redhead I was directly classified as autumn but because of the cool undertone in skin and cool eyecolor (gray) this doesn't really fit and I can not even use half of the palette :( I guess this problem applies to many redheads.
I love the green & white on you. I agree, you seem romantic/natural & classic/youthful to me. Your silhouettes are often romantic even if your colors aren't :)
I started doing this with Color Me Beautiful about 1980 or so and this has been a life saver. Everything in my color matches and when I shop you now what to look for. Be blessed!
I'm so glad you saw John. He really is the best. Exactly how I thought he would see your coloring and ingenue romantic is spot on. How absolutely marvelous. He just has excellent taste and i always agree with his celebrity analysis as well.
The seasonal color self-diagnosis has been helpful as a starting point, because I'd long since given up on black and stark white, but couldn't place my finger on exactly why. I'd love to do something more in depth, if only to stop myself gravitating towards colors I LOVE, just not on me (I'm looking at you, burgundy!).
I’ve always thought you were warmer than a true Winter. You are a mix, as I am. In my case, I’m a Dark Autumn. Just my opinion, but I think you look fabulous in the soft white, and less so in pure white.
Having a color analysis can make all the difference in your wardrobe and makeup. It truly changes your mindset when you wear YOUR colors. Thank you for sharing your experience. You look beautiful.
Knowing your colors makes a big difference. However, there are colors I have struggled to find for decades. A rich, blueish green has been on my wish list since I was a teenager. Now, at age 51 I am finally able add it to my closet. 🥰
Colors hit the stores in cycles. Right now Spring colors are hard to find, so I know I won't be spending very much on clothes for awhile. Fortunately, I can mix in Autumn colors for accessories!
Having a professional colour analysis in my opinion is first and foremost in personal style. It saves you a lot of money, I love yellow, sadly it does nothing for me. I learnt over the years to admire it from afar. Colour, knowing your body shape saves a lot of money and bad choices that end up sitting in Your wardrobe. Love your videos 😊🌟💜🍒
I've been waiting for this video ever since you announced it was coming a few months ago. I'm fascinated by color and how color shows up in a unique way in all of us. Thanks, Audrey!
Love this Audrey, You've really helped me to grow and evolve my style, you're like that best friend everyone has who helps them accentuate their special and unique features, I don't have someone like that, I consider it to be you, you're doing a great job, I wish you all the best for your bright future ahead, Sending Love your way Bestie ❤️👍🏻!!
This was super interesting. And I love how your analysis went beyond the typical this is what season you are. Thank you also for sharing how these colors show up in your make up. What a revelation!
This was very interesting and enlightening. Thank you! Some time ago I binged watched UA-cam videos of a color analyst. I was confused because in my teens and twenties I was a true Summer according to seasonal colors. But over the last decade my skin became more neutral and my hair a lot darker. I gravitated to winter colors instead. What I understand now is that a color we wear near our face should make people pay attention to our face and make us look healthy. If people pay attention to the color instead or the color makes us look drained, washed out, or tired, that's our cue that it's not a good color for us.
Very exciting! I had a color analysis done about 8 months ago and found it informative. I’m excited to see how your wardrobe changes now with this new information!
I found this so interesting Audrey. I have watched many colour analysis videos but this takes it to a whole new level. I am a winter, your colours are very much to my taste. Thank you for sharing your personal experience.
How exciting, so happy that you shared this beautiful experience with us! I found this video very interesting and informative. I loved that using some of the colors in accessories and makeup instead of just fabrics was really enlightening. Always love your videos, thanks ! 😍
Thank you for this! I had my "colors done" about 40 years ago, but I would absolutely consider having this analysis done now. It seems more expansive than the standard seasonal analysis. So happy to see another video from you and to continue learning from you.
This was so wonderful Audrey-- how exciting and I loved that you shared this with us! I have missed you and I love you!!
I find now that my hair has turned silver all of my previous conceptions about my coloring are proving untrue. I am slowly finding my way. This is very interesting to see how he was able to mix colors not found in a winter palette but still your overall palette is cool.
I had mine done by John as well. We have very similar palettes! I have near-black hair and fair skin. I had always worn more muted soft tones so discovering that jewel tones were a better fit was sort of transforming. I had always felt like yellow was off the table for me but John helped me find “my yellow” which brings me a lot of joy. My wardrobe has tons of black but I can wear it in any amount (like you). I tossed all my dusty rose and smokey blues for deeper brighter tones and kept all my black. It’s been so much fun!
I had a virtual colour analysis with John (I live in Ireland). I love how individual it is to me. I was looking forward to seeing your colours Audrey. They are very different to mine but both beautiful and individual to us.
I have very similar skin-tone & eye color as you and recently discovered green does work for me. It has been a fun addition to my wardrobe and boosted my confidence. Great video !
You look so beautiful in these colors! I’m glad you did the in depth analysis 😊
Lovely video! Great to have you back! ❤
I knit, so you really get the full range of color possibilities. I did take a color class at a fiber festival. One of the best tips she gave wasn’t for yarn though, but leather. She said that if you were going to invest in a good bag, to match it to your hair. Because you’ve decided everything else looks good with your hair, so your bag will too.
This will probably work for people with black or brown hair, but sounds a bit dubious for blondes and redheads?
@@amberdallinga4948 Why? Blondes can just take a beige bag then, and for redheads there are lots of warm reddish/orange browns and tans.
Great idea, I'm finally entering my adult years at 22, wanting to get a hand bag to look less like a high schooler.
Yes! When we did our sessions with John, he said, "color season haha, but you live all year round, why limit yourself to one season? That's silly!"
That green flower blouse is sooo beyond beautiful on you 😍. Yes, very informative and helpful. Welcome back to your little community 💙. Love, Karen
This is so helpful! You and I share similar skin, hair and eye tones and I really love the colors identified for you. I went through some years of almost all dark blue, black and gray, but now I am leaning more to rich tones of terra cotta, deep red and greens.
Wow! You look *so radiant* in all of these colors he chose for you!! What is interesting to me, is that it seems like he found that a lot of colors of the color wheel are considered wonderful for you! I guess I always thought of color analysis to be more definitive of a section of the color spectrum that would work for a person and that is where the person should set boundaries for themselves when dressing. I really appreciated when you said if there are colors that we are drawn to, then there could be a reason--as in, those may very well look good for our complexion, etc. I'm going to try that right now, because I have been reducing purchasing clothing and preparing to build a classic wardrobe. Thank you so much for sharing this!!
Thank you for doing this! I have been on the fence on having one done due to cost. But as I’ve aged and my coloring has changed have thought it might be helpful. The other issue, of course, is finding someone who is well qualified, and that’s hard to do on something like this. I love how thorough his analysis is and look forward to see how you incorporate it in your future choices.
This video helped a lot in finding out which color complement my olive skin tone and which color doesn’t. And I must admit, I found you as my twin match. Thank you so much!
I am glad to see you read my message about John Kitchener. I enjoyed your video!
Thank you for this video ! I was so happy when I saw the notification. It is always interesting and you help me a lot in my own journey about how to curate my wardrobe and be more self confident in my clothes. :) Take care of you. I wish you all the best.
I also highly recommend getting a Color and Essence analysis with John Kitchener! He does them remotely too using specified photos in daylight. I got this done 3 years ago and it changed my life! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous colors, Audrey, and inspiring us to think out of the box of simply seasonal colors.
Hi Audrey. A great opportunity you had to find a person that is a professional. You are looking great and I am so happy to see you again.
I hope you are feeling better. Sending you all my blessings.
I found this video helpful because I have both warm and cool tones to my skin and like you, can wear white and off white, gold and silver etc. I have been sewing my own wardrobe for the last 2 years and went from sewing ALL the pretty fabrics to dialing it down and really focusing on cohesiveness in my wardrobe. However, I know only black white and grey is bland for me, I love blues and greens as well. Hearing some of the reasons behind the blues and greens as well as the corals for makeup and the browns for accessories was interesting and enlightening.
I love how personalized this is!
I had the most helpful analysis done by a pro on fiverr! Best purchase ever!!!
Fascinating. I like that it was taken to the next level. Love your channel.
I appreciate this , it shows the beauty in colours when combined. Also helps to open my mind to dress differently.
Same! ❤
This was fascinating. Color theory has come a long way since I first had it done in the 80s. Thank you for sharing your analysis!
Keep doing whatever you did with your hair here - perfect!
So helpful! Good to know there is so much more than basic analysis. Knowing that the colors you are drawn to may be indeed ok, is very nice to know.
If you're drawn to them, there's probably a reason. If you like the way you look in them, wear them!
This is something I have always wanted to do. I think you are right about instinct being a true reflection of what we find works for us naturally. I, like you, love green, neutrals, and I have discovered with the right shades of brown too that they are flattering. I want to do this so I can more accurately figure out what works for me and my colouring. Thank you for showing us this process! I hope I can find the Canadian equivalent here.
Thanks for sharing your personal journey Audrey.
You look great. All these new colors that you have incorporated into your wardrobe look fantastic on you!
I’m so happy for you, Audrey! Just last month I got my colors done by John. His system is so unique and doesn’t feel at all limiting. I’m so glad I did it!
Imho he is THE expert in this area. (Full disclosure, I’ve been a client and friend for more than 34 years and am writing an online course about John’s work.)
Everything in this video is so beautiful ✨ love it
Very helpful video! I was colorized 40 years ago as a winter and have religiously worn colors from that season. But now I want to expand a little into other colors and also apply this theory to my makeup! Thanks,Audrey!
Time to find your secondary season! See which of the other palettes has the most colors that flatter you. 🙂
Such a wonderful informative video. I love how you embrace colour as I do. I am a trained colour image consultant and am always so amazed to see how colour can change not only how you look but how you feel wearing it. This is an interesting process from John Kitchener - very personalized that is awesome. My training is with the typical four seasons but also an additional 12 options called flows. So it does open up the possibilities which I love. You always look so beautiful Audrey. xo Jackie
I love this approach! I tried to self analyze myself but it's really hard to put myself in just one category, especially since I am also an olive. But just going slowly, step by step, I'm trying out different colors when I'm at the store to simply observe what I feel good in. Human beings can't be put in a box (in the case of classic color analysis, one of twelve boxes), everyone is different and it may take time to figure out what truly works for you. But I'm in love with the process :)
This looks great, and not as limiting as seasonal analysis!
I had my colors done in the 80’s…love to see how much more sophisticated this has become 😊
indeed the seasonal collor pallet is something that i did in my 20. I' m a winter. but this video gives extra posibilities. love it. thanks..
I definitely want to do a color analysis! Great video and you look soo lovely!
I love this take on colour analysis! Never been a fan of the "dividing", that is the "rules" that say "if you are a winter you can/should only wear this not that" etc (same with gold and silver). But recently I've gotten out of that mindset and tried on many other colours - both cool and warmer ones, as well as mixing metals (my abolsute favourite!).
They all look great on you
John did my colours and essences a couple of years ago and so it was really interesting to watch your video, thanks for filming it.
We share quite a few things in common (I’m 75% SC, 10% LB, 15% ER and my essences are 35% Classic, 25% Romantic, 25% natural and 15% high spirited.) It explains part of why I’ve been so drawn to your channel for a number of years.
Thank you for sharing this Audrey.
I love this, Audrey!! So awesome seeing your beautiful videos and to see your channel flourish! Amazing content! :)
Thank you SO MUCH ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️you just made my whole week xx
really love the hair and makeup in this video 🥰🥰
I’m glad you did this video, I’ve been curious about it.
Great vid & you were analyzed by one of the best ~ John Kitchener! Beautiful Analysis. This is what a Professional Color Analysis, represents >uniquely- You! Thank You ~ Rich Blessings
Thanks so much , I've also self diagnosed as winter and this information adds a lot more options 🌺💚🌺
This was so helpful! We have a very similar complexion, and I have also been naturally drawn to these colors. 🥰
You look your absolute best!!! My inspiration!!
Wow I didn’t know John Kitchener did color analysis too! I know he expanded on Kibbe’s theory by introducing face types and essences, but seeing that he does color analysis is super interesting.
Yes, color was his work in this area. He was a visual artist first as was his mother, and his father was an architect. His visual acuity is brilliant.
the yellow looks so adorable on you
Loved this topic!
It would be a good to see how you edited that info to work in your wardrobe. You have your own palette so besides make up are you going to accessorize with the many additional colors or expand your palette? It was an interesting video. I’ve learned through you and a few other thoughtful you tubers the benefit of limiting the colors in my wardrobe so they can work interchangeably more easily, so I’d love to see how you’ll apply this info practically. Thx.
thank you for sharing this! I have a neutral olive tone as well and don't neatly fit a season, this was very helpful and reassuring.
Wonderful video. Would love if you could do a video on your essences , and how they impact your styling choices.
I always thought i'm autumn. But the truth is i'm light spring! No wonder i've been dissatisfied when shopping
amo tu estilo tan pulido elegante y suave al mismo tiempo
An interesting video. Choosing the right colors and shades is not always easy. You gave several excellent ideas. Thank you. I have been watching your videos for a few years and I must admit your clothes are always both pretty and stylish. Compliments! Greetings from northern Europe.
Excellent video. Love, ❤️, ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ your hair!
Very interesting! I think the overall essence of someone is represented in their color palette
You look so lovely wearing the yellow cardigan ❤️
This is AMAZING! I think you and I have a nearly identical fair/light olive skin tone and these are all the colors I wear and love best. I’m gonna look into making an appointment!
What an interesting video. Thank you, Audrey.
Always interesting to see working with colours! I had colours done probably back in the 80’s. I was an autumn. However, there are colours that really perk me up…cobalt blue, periwinkle, warm purples. I do love my neutrals.
Those are all Autumn colors. I'm glad you got correctly typed!
OH MY GOSH IN HER SCREEN RECORDING MY VIDEOS ARE FEATURED! I love this video Audrey! My dream is to have John Kitchener do my color analysis, he's my favorite image consultant!
An interesting approach to color analysis! Thank you
Thank you Audrey for posting this video. I enjoy watching your channel and thoughtful comments and suggestions about creating a personal style. I love the personal analysis and colour suggestions done for you by John Kitchener. He is on spot about his recommendations. And because I love it so much I am surprised by the “colour emotions/comments” about your blacks and whites. While these colours look beautiful on you I would never call them “somber” or “austere”. English is my second language, so unless I am getting something wrong, but for me these words have negative connotations and I would never want to wear any colours that would give me this vibe. I would call them “classic and timeless”. Cheers from Canada
What I have learned over the years, and having had my personal colors done in the 80s, is that there are different theories with different "rules" which often conflict with one another. One pro says your SkinTone is your best color, while another says to avoid it, for example. So before submitting to anyone's opinion be sure you understand their training and the theory they are operating from.
Honestly I think most people can determine their best colors on their own after reading a few books from different perspectives, and limiting, rather than expanding their pallet.
I favor starting with really noticing one's own natural "body colors" (skin, hair, eyes), makeup can help you determine what blends with your natural coloring, and then "match or contrast" those in your wardrobe.
Love it!!
How interesting! Thank you for sharing your experience 😊 I'm curious if he talked about your olive undertones? I was so intrigued by your video on that.
Thanks Audrey this was very useful information. Highly recommend younger ladies to go ahead get this kind of analysis done.
Love this! I’ve always struggled with color since I’ve got an olive -ish tone. But have cool tones too… I feel we are quite similar in our coloring. Tempted to try the service! I actually just got a lemon colored top and it’s not a color I typically go for but I felt so bright and cheerful. Then I saw it in your color options!!
Olive skin does have a blue baae. I don't know what season you were analyzed as, but consider trying colors from the core Winter palette to see if the suit. Lemon yellow lights up most Winters. 🙂
Being an olive undertone, I find contrast levels do a lot for us. In the summer when I'm tan, blues, navy, robin's egg, several in between, bring a coolness to contrast with my skin. I can wear gold in the summer. In the winter, when I'm pale, maroons & burgundies bring a warmpth that is lacking in my skin. Then I contrast the warm-toned top with silver jewelry.
Do you know if you are low-, medium-, or high-contrast?
@@Kaibigan39 Higher contrast. Tone on tone is hard for me to wear, but really strong contrasts like black and white make me look headless.
High contrast, blue base: You're definitely a Winter!
This was really interesting!!
Very informative! It also helps that this system feels way less limiting than the usual seasons one (btw which one are you?). thank you🙂
Ooooo…😲😲😲 how cool 😎 😎😎‼️I like that he categorized your accessories too. I love stuff like this ❤️💛🧡💚🥰
It’s interesting I haven’t had my colours done but I gravitate toward some very similar colours and also self identified as a deep winter. Would love to have this process done!
