    Since this video isn't 40 minutes, you have time to do an extra leetcode question today 😛

    Thank you for all the tips! Especially the part on how to deal with rejections! Cause i was bad with dealing rejections!

    Thank you for this! I have 3 yoe and the code interview I had at my current job was just fizbuzz and a normal non-leetcode question. These coding interview tips were very helpful. It took me like 40 minutes to do my first easy leetcode question, but I'm sure I'll improve as I learn all the patterns.
    I guess I should also practice talking out loud when doing them as you said

    • @maria_sitkovets_tech
      @maria_sitkovets_tech  8 днів тому +2

      Yes it's really hard at first but if you keep practicing, you'll improve. Keep going with easy level questions and then mix in 1 medium and build up from there. Definitely learning the patterns is what helped me improve and figure out where to even begin to solve the question. I also recommend doing mock/practice interviews with friends if you can :)

    Hi Maria! Thank you so much for this content. I came here from your hackathon video which was also excellent. There's so many of these "get a job in tech" videos out there it can be hard to sort through them all to find someone that actually resonates. You're so authentic, knowledgeable and you break things down easily for people to understand. I wish you all the best with your channel and your career, I'm sure you'll continue to be successful :D

      Thank you so much for leaving such a nice comment! I'm happy you like my videos. I agree that it's really hard to find useful advice out there and for this video it's all the stuff I learned through a lot of trial and error. It may work for me but not for other people, but it's still good to share in case it does resonate with someone.

    So, remember, remote working technologies have leveled the playing field. Every SWE is competing against everyone in the world now. I was able to get a job in a foreign country, but ultimately turned it down. I decided to go freelance instead of FTE. Working in another country is something to seriously look at. What you said about networking & hackathons is key. Referrals are also key. Grats on the job.

    Thank you for this video :) I'm not trying to be a SWE (more interested in data analysis/science), and lately it's been intimidating to continue practicing or applying. I graduated a year and a half ago from maths with a computer science minor and haven't been able to get my foot in the door of the tech industry. Your video is verg encouraging and makes me feel like things are attainable as long as I keep trying and keeping studying and reaching out. Ty :)

      I've heard some data science interviews are similar to SWE ones but definitely more SQL. It's really hard right now and it's good to keep a growth mindset. I hope things will improve in the tech market soon. And I hope you keep going and working hard at improving :) thanks for leaving such a nice comment

    I'm getting sick from the game of job interviews! No genuinity anymore, if you don't play their games, you just lose and stay unemployed

      Yeah Gen z and Millenials got their eyes opened by mass layoffs and not being promoted for their work. Older generations could've worked at the same company for 30 years but that's because some companies offered pensions for them to retire. We don't get the same privilege. And now they want us to show the same loyalty??? Sometimes a job is a just a job

      Went and made 3 specific resumes for data roles and expanded to remote jobs. Only thing I miss out from being in the US is the tech openings, so sparse here in Latvia

      Yes for interns I think the visa is J visa. For after university it's the TN visa

    Can you share your Computer Science/Interview notes?

    • @maria_sitkovets_tech
      @maria_sitkovets_tech  5 днів тому

      They're basically just notes from the courses/textbook I mentioned. I also wrote them in notion which has a limit of only sharing to a few people in their free tier.

    what about someone who sucks at talking

    • @maria_sitkovets_tech
      @maria_sitkovets_tech  8 днів тому +1

      that's a good question. I also felt like I sucked so I found some youtube videos of people doing mock interviews and took notes on what type of language they used and how they explained their thought process. Also going through mock interviews with friends (or on websites where you get randomly matched with someone) is really helpful. You can also practice by going through a leetcode problem and filming yourself talking about it on your phone and watch it to see where you can improve.

    Why can’t you earn from UA-cam?

    • @maria_sitkovets_tech
      @maria_sitkovets_tech  5 днів тому +1

      I'm on a TN work visa in the US and you can only make money from the company that employs you. Maybe someone who works at Google/UA-cam could make money from UA-cam as a loophole though XD

      HAH not under donald trump. Women and other minorities in tech have it way worse which is why there are way fewer of us learning computer science, studying it, applying for jobs, and getting those jobs. Step 1 is actually being encouraged to even THINK about working tech for many people

  • @greeneyedcat10110
    @greeneyedcat10110 4 дні тому +2

    thanks for attempting to provide an individual solution to the systemic problem that is even worse for other people, come again

    • @maria_sitkovets_tech
      @maria_sitkovets_tech  2 дні тому +2

      It is a systemic problem but that doesn't mean people can't make videos giving advice about what worked for them. I made this video for my friends (who are all in different situations) to help give them advice based on what I did. With any advice video, take what you like and what you want to implement and leave the rest. I don't know everyone's situation and can't give universal advice. Every country/state/province has different problems and hiring practices/cultures.
