+mountaindog1 What would you recommend for a Type 1 Diabetic regarding intraworkout carbs or insulin optimization?
Are carbs still necesary if you have an elevated blood glucose and can simply take fast acting insulin?
I pay for you to premium to not have to see ads.
I love this video sir! I need to learn some stress management methods desperately. I was beaten and robbed last year, which left me very mentally screwed up. I needed facial reconstruction, suffered severe nerve damage and am almost homeless due to the financial pains it cause my family. My stress levels are insane unfortunately
Of all the fitness channels, you’re the best on UA-cam with the way you educate and mentor. Thank you. 💯🤙
Rest easy John, thank you for everything. You’ll still be with me every time I step in the gym ❤️

CLIFF'S NOTES FOR THE BUSY
1: Nutrition - nutrient timing around workouts. 1 hour preworkout: small meal of 25g protein, 25g carbs, 10g fat. During workout: Essential Amino Acids & a fast carb such as Cluster Dextrin. Post Workout: eat a full meal within an hour, doesn't need to be fast-acting.
2: Sleep - get a full night's sleep, develop a routine that aligns with circadian rhythms
3: Stress: consistently high cortisol levels causes the body to use amino acids & protein for energy rather than glucose. Employ stress reducing strategies such as removing negative people from your life.
Thank you Peter!
@@mountaindog1 John, thank you so much for the great content! As a natural bodybuilder over 40, do you have any additional tips for recovery when training in the evening (6pm) and then training again early the next morning (5:30am)? I compete in figure and train 5 days/week. These two sessions are close together just due to schedule limitations. I follow your advice on meal timing before, during and after workouts, and the evening meal in between these sessions includes 30g carbs. Maybe it's due to age, but even if I can get a nap in post-workout after the morning session, I still find myself dragging by mid-day. Should I add more fats after the morning session? Would appreciate any insight you can provide. 💪
@@tinalarsen3267 have some fats and slow digesting form of protein (casein, milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc) before bed. Get adequate sleep and just work on keeping a steady blood sugar level. You can also add intra workout nutrition like dextrin and EAAs. You just want a fast digesting carbs and amino acids/protein. Then post workout, again have some fast digesting carbs and protein. Fat and some form of casein protein before bed.
Eating some kind of fat with carbs will also slow down digestion and provide slower, steadier blood sugar levels. Or just have fat and protein and no carbs so the fats are your energy source and they keep blood sugar levels steady.
It's important to note everyone's body reacts differently to different types of food such as different sources of carbs or fat. You can get a blood glucose meter, test strips and lancets for about 20 bucks (total for everything) at Walmart. Write down and track levels after different sources of fats and carbs and fasting levels in the am! This way you know for sure how you are affected and you can customize your diet to fit you!
No ,#3 should be more rest dayz ,im studying to be a personal trainer and in the book it says #1 way to overtrain is to not enough rest dayz , account people who working out and not bs.If u a natural and work out more than 1 hour id say rest on the 6th day ,then continue your workout schedule
@@Andre25167 i'm a natural bodybuilder and i use 3 days on one day off and two days on one day off, and it work perfectely with me, and i train my large muscle group such (legs & back) when i have the next day as rest day,
But i'm really stressfull man on my own, im really a nervous man, any small shit make me stressfull, sometimes i take magnesium as a supplement on the night just to sleep and reduce stress, if u have some advises let me know what to do
Only John can grow his stubble back in 30 seconds after shaving, that's amazing healing factor for recovery
hahaha..you noticed the timing of it all
It's almost like he recorded the plug second! Or... he's a time traveller!
You are the only person that ive given a thumbs up for promoting products. you really looked 30 years younger, i was amazed lol.
haha - thank yoou!
Get rid on the life suckers. Amazing what happens when you surround yourself with positive people.
yep
Shit, now I have to get a divorce!
Watching that intro now breaks my heart. So full of love, Rest In Peace John. and Meadows family please know how many people out there care for you.
Why did I not discover this lovely man's channel years ago?
Good job John!!! Channel kicks ass

Antoine Vaillant got that right 👍
Good thing Thano’s didn’t get you
That finger snapping jerk 🤨
"wondering, if your girlfriend has a couple boyfriends"😟😟😟😟 Thanks for raising my cortisol levels!
I love John lol come say hi to everyone really quick (hi everyone ) john: Now get out of here
Lol, I am eating 6 times a day and was literally on the toilet when you mentioned the butt wipes. Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
hahah!!!!
I experienced the most muscle gains during the period in my life when I had no stress. Not a coincidence. Stress will kill your sleep quality and can impact your eating habits in a negative way. Gotta control your stress.
The problem at least to a Scientist is not the Stress per say but just your attitude on it. Look at Jerry Buss could give a damn about crappy franchise with rigged Championships.
Bill Gates laavs Stress.
Well, last I counted so far…. 100 people have lined up to take a Mike Tyson Route Punch BANG! Muknang never
Did you know Nightcrawler is trying to steal your supplements?

Shed a tear for your son mdog. Hugs to you little guy. I know it does make it any easyer but your dad really helped me out without even knowing I exist with his vids. Wish he was still here. Again so sorry you lost your dad so early. Hugs from sweden.
this man is so wholesome
Love the kid laughing in the background at but wipes
Damn wish my dad was a bodybuilder id have been putting up 225 before I turned 10
John is so anabolic that his beard grew back straight after shaving
That was probably the most entertaining add I've ever seen
Going to bed too late - missing out on muscle recovery, getting up too early and you missing out on cognitive recovery, interesting!
Dump the shitheads in your life. Life's too short. Not always an easy decision, but your life WILL IMPROVE DRAMATICALLY!
Good advice from a not too old guy !
Best practical sleep conversation I have heard. Most don't explain it in digestable way but you nailed it. Kudos
I hope you charged for that commercial haha 😂
I love this guy he’s like an older brother. Watch me grow ! 👍 luv mountaindog
I hate my work roster I work 12 hour shifts that rotate from days to nights... hard for recovery
Mountain dog is not only a professional bodybuilder but a professional life educator as well
"wandering if your girlfriend has a couple boyfriends" ahaha
“Wondering if your girlfriend has a couple of other boyfriends”. My favorite quote from you lol
Damn…. 😓 We miss you John. I hope of Johns family is doing well. You really are in our thoughts. John really did leave us as a legend. He will be remembered forever for his spirit, true kindness, as message to humanity.
❤️ 🙏🏽
The relentless stress Monday - Friday where I lived my life at 100MPH was killing my gains. One thing I have learned from The Covid shutdown is that i do not miss one second of that life. I wasn't enjoying it, I wasn't getting good rewards from it, and it was also making it impossible for me to train on Saturday due to physical and mental tiredness. I think a lot of us will have a new outlook on how we live our lives once the economy starts opening up again. That includes how we look after our body and mind.
Ugh i wish you were my dad lol
Jaimz Trantham , I'll be your daddy!!
Miss ya John. Thank you for all that you've done and shared with us. Legend.
Everybody should say fuck Gillette and get any other shaver.
Who else sleeps watching this
so manly shaved to start video but full 5 oclock shadow by the time he starts talking...
:)
Man working out and planning nutritional meals is a full time job
Stress & eating crappy
Add some serious health issues
& you got my life in a nutshell 😨
But I do sleep 😴 like a king 👑
knowledge is really vast !more the experienced guy the more the knowledge
In regards to sleep, I work shift work, ten hr shifts and a 90 minute commute each way. F#$@ing killing me! Do you think it's possible to compensate in other areas?
dang that is tough my man. I would do my best to get naps when you can...
Thank you John. Again advice to be used. I sleep with a c pap machine. I stop breathing 54 times a hour. Since I have started to train 9 times a week with a proper diet and using your valuable advice and training methods that number has come down to 47 within 2 months so again thank you John
thats awesome!!!!!!
Strange, nor nvr seen a Nigerian on those. Must be for that special someone. This Fathers Day
Great video as Always John! Thank you! It's really funny how some people just don't weigh in the importance of sleep when it comes to recovery. Partying all night after a heavy workout etc. If I don't get my 9-10hrs I feel absolutely wasted, especially after having done a heavy workout. Well well... Keep it coming John! I look forward to more all-things-training. I really appreciate these short vids you have been posting lately. Could be thoughts on volume, training splits etc too. I'll be trying PPL soon. Looking forward to it.
I can’t thank you enough mate. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you very much!!! 🤝🙏
Can I toss in the idea of cold showers? I was taking showers as cold as it would go for 5 min an hour or so before bed works wonders for recover and sleep. The cold therapy helped muscle soreness and released norepinephrine which helps reinforce neural pathways. I’m butchering it but Dr Rhonda Patrick has a great podcast on that.
Mate, if i eat 45 min. before workout. 20 minutes in and i am fucking hungry and without energy that i cannnot continue. I must eat atleast banana 10 minutes before, or i will die during workout lulw my metabolism :D
I have been to the gym for almost 2 weeks now. I did only running and other conditioning exercises before but now at 24 years of age I finally decided to give it a try. Your videos are helping me a lot!
Thanks John!
Got it. Dollar shave club to increase lift by 75%🎅🤘
This guy is so easy to listen to. Just found out about him. His legacy will live on
🔴 Another very helpful and wise talk John .This one should be seen by every sportiv people . Recovering is the key . Top recovery and less training provides a better progression than strong training with only 6 hours of sleep , I did experiment this for years . Guys , pay attention to this video ! Thx John , God bless you .👍
anytime i dont get my 9-10 hours of sleep after a gym session my soreness is prolonged and eat more because of low energy
more sleep = more gain
Hahaha fuck u r lucky i sleep like 7 or 8 hours but i wake up like twice
Sweet kid. Thanks for the help like always mountaindog.
Funny guy 😀 It took me many years to realise the importance of recovery. My CNS took a pounding and I paid for that, as my health suffered.
Great advise here. Basic but so so important to implement . Pls continue these short & impactful videos 👍
As someone who has been in the plumbing service industry before pipeline welding, those Ass Wipe Charlie's don't break down in your septic tank and can clog up a drain field. If you have a root issue your going to be calling Mr Roto Rooter sooner than you want.., word to the wise
RIP John you will be missed but never be forgotten!!!
Well done John great listen .
Keep up the good work .👏💪
Is there of laughing spirits in your house!? LOL
LOL!
I wonder how many other people watched this when they should already have been asleep.
Would the amount of carbs intra workout be more dependent on length of training time or the size of the individual (assuming you've eaten sufficient carbs prior to training)? Somewhere in the region of 25-50g?
a little bit of both...but duration and intensity definite factors - you are on the money
Thank you for everything! You will always live in our hearts and minds. You teaching will be eternal!
i really believe ur a great person thanks for these informations they make since ... keep making these videos man
Miss you a ton brother
Great Vid M--DOG you give some GREAT ADVICE.
I just wanted to say that I follow your advice and I can't speak highly enough how you've helped not just myself but so many others. R.I.P. John. Your advice and videos will live on forever!
Yes you did look 30 years younger. 😂😂
Awesome! Such good advice as ALWAYS, kind regards Richard U.K
Oh how I love sleep, but this stage in life not as much time for that as I’d like! I do the best I can.
What I love about Meadows is his calm demeanor.
love your input, im 52 so i listen to almost everything you say..thanks big guy.
Our Creator made us in an awesome way. Psalms 139:13-16 NIV. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Amen, man.
I appreciate the down to earth way you explained everything. I’m always thankful for your instruction.
1080p 60fps that's the way to watch videos.
thank you very much for your most valuable advice on recovery I had no idea that much goes on during your sleep process. I listen to this segment several times to have better understanding. it was very educational and again I thank you for Your Excellence information!
don't knock the butt wipes until you've tried em
You are awesome man! Thank you! This really helped!
R.I.P thanks for the great advice rest easy
Even though I love to keep my beard, but loved the marketing. By the way John, there is something called bidet. It exists in a portable and fixed form, it basically cleans butts with water (imagine filling it with warm water in the winter..) try one, you won't regret it! As always, impeccable advice, you're awesome!
Can't believe he is not with us 😢😢... Rip john medows
Big thing for recovery when it comes to sleep is get some blue light glasses. I recommend Swanwicks. Also turn off your phone and wifi at night or move it away from your room.
agreed
Thanks for the video John. I assume maltodextrin is fine for intraworkout carbs? How much would you recommend for a workout? I’m 6’3” and not natty (running 500mg Test e per week and 50mg anadrol every day). Currently bulking on 3800 calories.
I hate maltodextrin, but if it doesnt upset your stomach you can use - 40-50 grams max or you will crap your brains out or go hypo
mountaindog1 doesn’t upset my stomach luckily. Thanks, I’ll give this a shot.
If your REM info is true, then a nights sleep is similar to a set, in the idea that most of your results are coming from the tail end of a complete cycle.
big hi from sydney australia , really enjoy watching your vids . thanks for taking the time to make them , your helping me get my head around the finer details and science behind it all .
They actually are pretty good razors I've been using them for a while don't rust like the cheap costco stuff (kirkland
Great information I’m working in managing my sleep since I work graveyard shift aiming for 6 hours of sleep and work out as soon as i up. just subscribed to your channel great videos would be scrolling through them and find more useful information
Your videos are so good and very informative. Keep up the great work.
This man was pure gold.
Nice ad, not annoying and I didn't even skip it. Of course, excellent recovery content.
thank you!
I learned alot.. thank you
Tbh… That marketing was the best so far that I've seen. People hype about it and stuff and never use it that we can see it. You actually used it. Also the tips are good to know!
Thank you!
Great information Brother! Especially the sleep part, sleep is more anabolic than anything else we do
great video.. I'm constantly learning from you..
Educating the Masse's for Mass, great info
Fucking cortisol levels 😂
Stress...my culprit
Learn to meditate. There are plenty of videos to follow but the best meditation is self meditation in quiet. It may take a little practice but the rewards are huge. Doesnt have to be long, 5-15 minutes. Learn the basics, breathing technique, dont resist thoughts but let them pass as a mental observation. My best to you
Great one..... for me talking to God with an honest open heart..... and allowing myself to accept my faults, and face them head on w God’s help...... is not just my stress reliever: but the solution.
I totally agree John. And i need to be more aware of the things you said, and more aware of my own thoughts that drain the life out of me.
Thanks man. 😊
I prefer talking to Gandalf the grey
@@kallebaah0 I have found gandalf the white to be far more effective.
