Haha you're awesome!! I tried a similar method and dropped the kayak on my head 😅😅 now I just put my straps on the edge of my roof rack and slide it up, concussion free!
You are making it too complicated. There’s an easier way to put the kayak on your SUV. You are wearing yourself out before enjoying the day of fishing.

I’ve got the same problem with my unlimited - once I get it up there I feel like taking a long nap or having heart surgery. I need to find a solution.

So park the SUV on the road so the car roof is a little lower than if it was parked in the driveway. I’ll try that.
