This tutorial explains how to create 4 different geometric patterns in Adobe Illustrator 2021. I will teach you various techniques to create these background patterns and some tips and shortcuts along the way. I will also show you how to quickly and easily repeat these patterns as many times as you need.
If you want to jump to a specific pattern here are the timestamp links:

Thank you very much Barry (White) :D

GR8 video, could you do one with tri angles, like pyramids joining together?
I have a Penrose triangle video if that helps? ua-cam.com/video/zGr3KUp3THU/v-deo.html
@@igloo-imaging hmmm not quite what i am looking for. I am looking for more of the "CUBE PATTERN" look. Lets say TRI PATTERN look. Thanks anyway.
might seem like silly question but how do i apply color to the first example. bc by the end of it it was all grey/white. specifically the white spaces (that you have colorized as yellow in the example). thank you!!
Hello, so we are creating a pattern to lay on top of a background, in this case the pattern is grey and the background was blank/white, just pop in a rectangle and move it behind the pattern then you can choose whatever colours you need. Hope that helps.
@@igloo-imaging thank you! we appreciate your time and effort. I've learned a lot.
I get stuck at the separation part.
Nice video! I tried to save this to a private playlist I've got, but was unable to do so. Have you disabled the ability for this video to be saved to a playlist? I'd love to be able to add it to my personal playlist for future reference, if possible - Thanks!
It's been moved by UA-cam I think ? You have to click on the 3 ••• to show the save option.
@@Jezz_Mcfly Awesome! Thanks for the tip.. Worked great!
@@kirkmanjames you're welcome buddy ✌
Hi question 👋 I have exported my file and noticed white line in between pattern, can you please help me resolve this. Thank you☺
Hard to say, might suggest anchor points aren’t exactly aligned. Try “cmd + y” to see outline view and check alignment.
I can't seem to match my anchor points on the first pattern. Even though I am doing exactly what you are doing! Rotated 90 degree and if the top circle matches than the bottoms are misaligned :(
If the lines aren’t aligning after the rotation that would suggest the enlarging of the circles might be off a bit. Is you art board the same size in pixels as mine?
Hello! I can't even connect the edges of the form. How to make a smooth seam
You have to group them together. Direct select (a) the two points then group, Command + G for Mac, and Control + G for Windows.
Thank you! I'll try.
Interesseting. But why do you make the cube so complicated? Cant use shape tool?
I do not understand the height at 0:30. Can somebody tell me what he says?
1920px wide x 1080px high
@@igloo-imaging Awesome! Thanks!
Pathfinder divide will not work. First the lines wouldn't align when rotated so I started over and did what you did two more times. Pathfinder divide will not work
Keep trying the instructions do work. You may not have everything selected?
U can do by pattern why don't use it?!
There are usually a few ways to do the same thing in Illustrator but this is the way I prefer for this task.
tried the first on and every circle ends up with a completely different thickness and wont work for me :/
Try going to Illustrator (top left) > Settings > General and make sure "Scale Strokes & Effects" is unticked.
@@igloo-imaging This solved it! I managed to follow the rest easily too thank you! :)
I got stuck at 4:25 😪
so sad😂
No good way to generate this stuff, huh?
