As a kid, a family member bought me “Things Change” for Christmas. I was a huge Cowboys fan and huge Aikman fan. It’s really cool to hear a conversation that includes my home state and things from my childhood all these years later. I was a huge fan of Woodson’s big hits from safety, too! One of the best to play the position!
It was great to see Troy Aikman with Darren Woodson there and to hear about how the Cowboys were in the 1990's and before that. Plus give an interesting perspective how Jimmy Johnson, Jerry Jones ran that team because they took their lumps from other teams before the 1990's, but they dished the punishment back out on those teams and started ruling the NFL World. Troy Aikman had Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Alvin Harper, Jay Novacek, etc. to make that offense run like a well oil machine. Of course Darren Woodson had Charles Haley, Deion Sanders, Kevin Smith, Leon Lett, Larry Brown, etc. to make that defense powerful and awesome. 1990's Cowboys were a great group of players wow.
Woody, I just discovered your vlog. And subscribed. Great seeing you play in the 90's!! You were my favorite. I still wear your numbered jersey. Doing a GREAT job!! Stay safe and God bless. 🏈Hut-Hut!! From Lubbock, Texas
You gotta love Troy Aikman. No matter what the question, he will give you a honest, thought out answer. My second all time favorite Cowboy, only behind Randy White.
As a Cowboys fan, I find this so fascinating. Little did I know during those glory years that I would be waiting 26 years later for another Cowboys Super Bowl title. But fan hope reigns supreme.
Good to know Darren has a show. What’s the hold up of him in the HoF. The man belongs there. This Troy interview was awesome. I can’t imagine Troy living in Whittier. Even though that’s Richard Nixon country Whittier is complete gangland.
With All Due Respect: To all you Different NFL Team Fans... "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys." From "Danny Don Meredith" to "Roger The Dodger" to Troy Aikman to Tony Romo, to Dak Prescott. It isn't Easy being a Cowboy this Days. "Turn out The Lights, the Party is Over...They say all good things must end." May The Best Team Win The Super Bowl in 2020.
I remember meeting Darren at Pappadeuxs in Austin...he apologized to me because Charles Haley was a little rude to me when I was trying to have a serious business conversation and looking for Tony Tolbert....see if he remembers....???? Since that day Darren has been my favorite NFL player of all time....real class act.
Darren i.love.your show bro congrats wish you all the best i love this interview with Troy been dc4life since 1999 when we lost Michael Irvin to that injury he had..hoping and praying 🙏🏼🙏🏼you get into the Hall of Fame bro because you were a beast in the field and deserve it..and thank you for everything you and Troy did for us back then when you all played for us..hope you have a great weekend my brother stay safe and god bless your family 🙏🏼🙏🏼 i love our ☆☆Dallas Cowboys☆☆✊✊👊👊👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Taking out the racial element cuz I don't look at life through colors, I've always saw Troy Aikman as a solid dude, he may have some rough around the edges to him, but he's an all around Solid dude.. Never heard nothing negative or racist SHIT about him and I can tell how Deion hugged him when Troy unexpected showed up to a college practice of Coach Deion team.... that told me alot about Troy....and that's FACTUAL 💯...
Wow I just discovered this channel, Loved this Interview with Troy, and love your Channel Darren, new sub, Id love to hear your story Darren, maybe you’ll let someone interview you in the future. DC4L!
In 9th grade i played tight end. I had glue for hands. But in the late 80's most teams ran the ball. During breaks i would throw the ball 70 yards to groups of players and onlookers who begged me to throw it far. No coaches EVER approached me. I could have at the minimum. Played at a high college level. No one ever cared to notice or cultivate my talents. I was even better at music. Another talent that went unnoticed. Ultimately, my fault for not making it happen though. But oh man what i wouldn't have given for a helping hand or someone to notice and help me. And i am not exaggerating or kidding about throwing the ball 70 yards.
Johnson had a great eye for talent. After he left and Jerry & Stephen took over Drafting and it immediately became obvious that the Jones’s didn’t have the ability to glean the best players in the Draft. #DC4L
Great interview, but Troy is flat-out wrong when he states that the 1994 Cowboys were a better team than the 1995 Cowboys. During the Cowboy's magical 4 year run (e.g., 1992-1995), the 1995 Cowboys scored more points, committed less penalties, gave up the least number of QB sacks, and had more HOF's than the other 3 juggernaut squads. Troy also forgets that Jimmy Johnson never coached anywhere for more than 5 years, he never had to deal with the salary cap in Dallas, and the 1994 49ers were better than the 49er teams that Johnson's Cowboys defeated in 1992 and 1993.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion that the 94 Cowboys "should" have defeated the 49ers, but there are a number of factors that point towards an alternate point of view. They include... the first year of the salary cap was in 94; the Cowboys lost several key players in free agency; the 49ers upgraded their roster with several key free agent signings; Erik Williams was lost for the season (e.g., car accident) after an emotional Week 8 win against the Cardinals; the 49ers beat the Cowboys in Week 11, giving them an inside track on home field advantage in the playoffs; the 49ers played the Cowboys at home in the NFC Championship Game; the Cowboys were 7 point underdogs; and they were a MASH unit heading into that game (e.g., Emmitt Smith pulled hamstring, Larry Allen high ankle sprain, Nate Newton dislocated toe) whereas the 49ers were completely healthy. In terms of the game itself, most fans and football writers focus on the 3 early turnovers and the bogus non-interference call on Deion, but they either ignore of forget about... Cowboys #1 ranked defense not creating a sack or a turnover in the game; Chris Boniol missing a 27 yard field goal; John Jett shanking a punt that helped to put the 49ers in position to hit Jerry Rice with a touchdown pass right before the half; Aikman throwing a costly interception in the 3rd quarter after the Cowboys crossed midfield; and the Cowboys #1 ranked defense allowing the 49ers to convert 2 crucial 4th downs that resulted in 10 points.
I mean I am not disagreeing with someone that played on the team. Look at all the stats you want but the emotions and connection they built that season was special to him.
@@Antbeast23 If you're referring to the 1994 team, Aikman himself has stated that for the first 12 weeks of the 1995 season, the team was more cohesive than at any point in the 1994 season. Aikman's comment on this show also had nothing to do with "the emotions and connection" of the 1994 team. He simply claimed the 94 team was better than the 95 Super Bowl winning team, but the statistics AND results of the 95 team demonstrate that his claim is dubious.
I remember had discussions if Troy became the coach of the Cowboys he and Jerry would have a relationship very similar to what Jimmy and Jerry had they'd butt heads allot
You guys are admiring Troy Aikman as if he were even remotely more talented than what Jim Plunkett was. Troy is definitely one of the greatest over imbellished quarterbacks in the history of the NFL. It can be argued that this is not true because he is IN the Hall of Fame, however the system is flawed and everyone knows it.
Darren you’re going to the hof get ready bruh 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🔥🔥

I’ve never heard Troy this candid. He was always serious, focused like a laser! Great interview.
Awesome interview Troy is my favorite all time athlete who doesn’t get enough credit for leading the 95 cowboys to the Super Bowl
Definitely.....Troy and Michael Irvin were the heart and soul of that team.....and Emmitt in some ways was the team
Barry Switzer led that team.
@@supersexysegaSwitzer sucked.
@supersexysega How has Jerry done the last 30 years, pal?
@@supersexysegapsshh……They won “in spite of” Barry Switzer.

Great insight! Troy seems pretty damn humble. Who is the future UCLA QB he is referring to?
Cali in the house! Love it! 💙
Great interview 😎
Fun fact: My daughter wore jersey #8 when she was 2 years old 🤩
I read 'things change' so many times as a kid, for a childrens book it's pretty informative- most of the stuff he talks about here is covered in that.

Try going from California to vicenza Italy to lampasas Texas.
Culture shock came in going from Italy to lampasas Texas.
Troy aikman you broke your leg against the Miami hurricanes Jimmy Johnson and 47 Michael Irvin.
If he would have gone to Oklahoma State, he would have played with Barry, right?
It would’ve been Jimmy . He did play for Barry before he went to UCLA . Remember Oklahoma ran the wish bone back then .
2-8 going to state😂😂😂

Cowboys should of beat SF in 94. 95 they had more big name players but didn't have they had the previous 3 years.
