Thank you for sharing this - we experienced on in San Diego about 17 years ago while at Mission Beach. The entire boardwalk went silent, watching this 'thing' roll toward us from horizon to horizon... The wind and speed of the cloud was amazing!
Morning Glory clouds occur regularly in the Southern part of the Gulf of Carpentaria, around Burketown, in Queensland (an Australian state), between September and November. Only about four or so are really well formed each year. Sometimes they have multiple waves and can be up to a thousand kilometres long. Have been known to the local Aboriginal people for thousands of years. The place attracts glider pilots each year wanting to 'surf' them. They also occur in other places in Oz from time to time, but Burketown apparently has near perfect characteristics for their formation.

Some of the Gulf of Carpentaria ones can move at least as fast as this. The glider pilots get cranky when they move this fast, it makes them hard to "surf", not as much fun. i see the guy who filmed this one felt the cold front pass by. Melbourne gets heaps of cold fronts but as far as I know no Morning Glories, so much more to it.

Fortunately, no. Most of these phenomena appear in multiple lines, kinda looking like the stripes on the American flag. I, personally, believe that God is doing a line of coke (last bit was a stolen comment from StrahaoftheRace)

Its basically a rolling tube of low pressure air, as it rolls it forms new cloud out of the water vapor on the leading edge and and that cloud redisperses at the trailing edge where the pressure raises back up. It may not be growing out of itself... But it definitely is growing out of thin air!

Crazy how fast this one moves, must be a much more transient and smaller-scale system to the ones usually captured here in Aus, very rare and cool!
