The day before I left to Coast Gaurd boot camp this song played in a bar somewhere out there in El Paso Texas as I drank my last beer. For 8 weeks this was the only song going through my head and motivating me.
The mid 60's, Grand dad's hand-me-down nine volt radio and a Police auction bicycle. 7 years old and the most free I've ever been. Life's been good but the wind in my hair and that tinny sound were the best. It even let me know when to head home, static from approaching thunder storms coming over the radio.

God damn this is a great song. Dave Alvin is a poet who takes us back to simpler, better times.
Great song
Dave Alvin is one of those musicians whose voice and guitar playing just grabs you and won't let go. See him live. Astounding.
Hard to see kids getting as romantic about their first cell phones as we were to get our first Transistor Radios and eventual Walk-Mans.
A pure, beautiful song.
Another outstanding song handed to us by this extremely talented recording artist.
Just fkkn marvelous. The world needs more like this.
