Work on that foot strike and be conscious in creating more force into the ground. Have seen people immediately run faster by just consciously generating more force.

Can you do a technique breakdown of Charlie Dobson (400m) the dude has some of the cleanest form I've ever seen, thanks.

Corey- if ground contact time for the elite is 0.08s it’s difficult to believe that maximum force is being
applied by voluntarily driving the leg down to the ground which would inevitably result in longer contact times. It seems to me that the force produced on ground contact is reactive to the leg striking the ground from gravity. By analogy if I punch a bag the higher the force I voluntarily produce the higher the contact time.

It’s all about how the force is being generated. Some people struggle with ground force production and therefore do not run as fast so with drills and instruction trying to teach how to fix that. Some people more vertical, some horizontal but most people need to improve both. And yes foot contact time may increase in response but that’s why adding in more balance and ankle strength will set the body up to adapt to have both increased force production and limited foot contact time.
