I used this to make my boyfriend a Christmas gift last year. This year he asked me to make two teddy bears for his younger siblings I'm back for the pattern, thank you!
I made this bear for my daughter using remnants of a jacket she had cut up to make a cat-bed. It’s a brilliant pattern and video and my daughter loves the bear despite the fact that it’s the first teddy I’ve sewn and he only has button-joints. Thank you 😘

Hi ! The plastic joints are used to attach the limbs and the head to the body and allow mobility (the limbs can be moved back and fourth). But you can absolutely sew them directly to the body using a ladder stitch ☺️
Have fun! don't hesitate to share pictures of the teddy bear you will made (through instagram or email). I love seeing how it turns out with different fabrics 😀
Can someone explain what she is doing from 7:15-6:59? I know she is attaching the nose to the head but the video does a weird skip that doesn't allow us to see what exactly happened. Thank you!
Hi, I can help but the timestamps you're talking about show all the body parts completed, while you mention the nose getting attached to the head, which starts at 8:13. Which part do you have an issue with ? I don't see the skip you're mentioning, is it still happening ?
I see ! 😄 Once the top of the forehead is sewn to the mouth you ended up with one big piece (6:00). From there, you should sew the sides of the forehead to each head parts. At 6:06, I push the fur to the 'inside' and at 06:12 I pin the first centimeters that I will sew. At 06:14 I do the same but for the other side. Then I sew until I arrive around the neck that I leave open. I hope it's clear, I know the making of the head is the hardest part to do. I should have edited this part longer, I have planned to upload a new teddy bear DIY video (how to make a miniature one) within a week or two, and I'll show more precisely how I make the head (same method) 👌
Crossing my fingers for you! 🤞 If you have any questions while you're making it, you can message me on instagram (teddiy_bear) and I'll try my best to help. 😀
So, I did not have a printer on me at the time, so I had to trace the pattern (this made it smaller), I did not have furry or brown fabric so I used green fabric, I did not have plastic joints so I had to sew on the limbs and head, I did not have plastic eyes or nose so I had to use buttons for the eyes and embroider the nose (I don't have embroidery thread so I used sewing thread, also I'm a noob at embroidering), also the head ended up being too small. Despite my bear turning out pretty terrible, I'm actually kind of ok with it since this is the first time I made a plushie with limbs. Thanks for the tutorial, It was really easy to follow and my mistakes were more on my part than the videos.
Hi, as an alternative to the plastic discs, you can use bolts, nuts and washers -those you'll find in hardware stores (I show how to use them to secure the limbs in my last video "Mini Teddy Bear DIY"). 😄 There is also a technique with cotter pins, otherwise you can sew the limbs directly to the body using a ladder stitch, but your bear will not be mobile.
Hey! It's a good question, if you're cutting all the pieces in one row, you'll need a minimum of 22cm / 9inch in height for 147cm / 58inch in width. If you're doing it in two rows, then it's 44cm / 18 inches in height for 78cm / 31 inches in width. + 15x15cm / 6x6 inches of fabric for the paws / soles. I've added in the description box links to two pictures that helps to understand better how to cut according to the direction of the fur, and the amount of fabric you will need. Hope this helps you! :)
thank you so much! i have 2 questions: can i make this without the plastic joints? if so, what kind of hand stitch can i use? i also can not see what kind of stitch you use to attach the ears, you could please kindly tell me? thank you again!
Hi ! ☺️ Yes, you can make this teddy bear without joints, to do so, sew the limbs and the head directly to the body using a ladder stitch. You can use the same stitch to attach the ears, sew also at 16:09' on my video "Mini Teddy Bear DIY", it's the same method. Hope this help! 🧸
Hi ! 😇 I have planned on making a DIY rabbit plushie with the body parts sewn instead of the joints, but first I'll be uploading videos on how to embroider eyes.
You start to sew the forehead at the nose side, then you sew until you arrive around the back of the neck that you leave open. I know the making of the head is the hardest part to do. I should have edited this part longer, I am currently editing the next video (mini teddy bear DIY) and I show better how I make the head (same method), the video will be available very soon (less than a week) 👌

Thank you for the tutorial. But do you have written instructions? I would really appreciate it you do. Thank you again. I am making a memory bear out of a friend's grandfather's shirt.
Hi 😄 I do, but it's not available yet. My blog is almost ready with an extended written tutorial for each of my videos, including this bear, it's currently being translated and should be online this summer. Meanwhile, you can check out my last video (Mini Teddy Bear DIY) that has more explanatory passages, the method is suitable for bears of all sizes.
@@tedDIYbear Hi! Thank you for getting back to me so soon. I will definitely check out the mini. And will be on the lookout for the written instructions. I will also be watching the video while I sew it. You and your videos are awesome.
Hi, I printed your bear pattern and what size paper do you normally print it on? I wonder if that is why I can't print it all on 1 sheet and also why it looks small in size. Thanks.

@@tedDIYbear oh thank you, i did find it in another comment, so appreciate you getting back to me, is it possible to make this bear non jointed and just sew him together lol, or is it better jointed?
Both are great! I chose to do this bear jointed because it's easier for beginners and give a more "traditional" look, but you can absolutely sew his parts, if you do, use a ladder stitch (invisible). I will do a rabbit plush DIY with the parts sewn in a few months. 😃
@@tedDIYbear thank you so much i will watch for that video...i ended up making him, and i jointed him with large buttons, he was made from my daughters jacket, first Bear i ever made, when i finished i was like he's very cute, but i can't believe its 5am lol...i will definitely be making another bear..thanks for getting back to me literally within a day, you are awesome!!
hi! so, i wanted to make this for my grandma who lives abroad and hasn't been able to see us bc of rona. idk much about sewing, but i was wondering if yall think it would be possible to make this without the joints + maybe with a speaker in the foot so we can record a message for her? like i said idk what i'm doing but im super excited anyways!
Hello 😀 That would be a really good gift to make to your grandma, handmade gifts are always the best. Sure, you can do it without using joints (you may check Alitoysa's teddy bear tutorial), it's quite of a different process. I'll make a teddy bear DIY video like that (without joints + music box) but only around February / March in 2021. In waiting, let us know how it goes! 😇
Hi! if you're cutting all the pieces in one row, you'll need a minimum of 22cm / 9inch in height for 147cm / 58inch in width. Hi, the bear is 12.6 inches standing on his feet, if you want it to be 20 inches, maybe increase the size by ~60%. On a printer, that must be 160%. Here's a good tutorial on how to enlarge a soft toy pattern with a copier. www.funkyfriendsfactory.com/blog/how-to-re-size-a-toy-pattern/

@@tedDIYbear Thank you very much. For some reason when I was trying to see it, it would not open the notes. But now, lol it shows it all. Thank you very much!
Hi, you don't bother me at all ! A4 is the standard paper size to print. I'm French, maybe this format is not commun in your country, it's similar to the 'Letter' size which mesures 8,5 x 11 inches (210x297mm). 😄
Hi, I listed everything I used in the description box below the video. If you can't access it, here's the links : black plastic eyes fr.aliexpress.com/item/32643698085.html / wooden buttons « Handmade with love » : fr.aliexpress.com/item/32839569272.html
Hi 😊 the bear is 32cm (12.6 inches) standing on his feet and 20cm (7.9 inches) sitting down. Yes you can make it without the joints, in this case you'll need to sew the legs, arms and the head with a ladder stitch 🧵
I have planned on doing a rabbit with the body parts sewn instead of the joints, but only around May / June. If you need it now, I saw that 'Alitoysa' did a teddy bear DIY tutorial in which she sews the parts, you should check her video 😇
You can resize my pattern to make it bigger, sure. I personally haven't, but there is plenty of advice on how to do so on the Internet. I would love to see the result though !😁
Hello I love this! However I’m having trouble downloading the pattern. I have the link and it says download and then it sends me to another page but doesn’t download to my phone, or do I have to download it on my computer?
@@tedDIYbear thanks for the reply! 😊 I'm about to get started on this DIY but I noticed my fabric frays when I cut it out, do you know if it will it stop fraying when it is sewn?
@@melissadelvecchio1246 Hi 😊 it shouldn't be a problem as you'll sew all around the fabric, which will keep it from fraying. Eventually, make the seam allowance larger when cutting the fabric.

Hi ! 😀 You can see step-by-step how to embroider a mouth (same method that the head is open or closed, you hide the knot in the neck area) on my latest video ("Mini Teddy Bear DIY") at 11:57.
omg this is great!!!!! ive been wanting to make a plushie teddy bear bag- but make it a duck! 🤣 may i know what stitches did you use? im not really good in sewing and idek if sewing stitches have names or something 😭
Hi 😊 I used a backstitch for everything except for closing the head (running stitch) and the openings at the end (ladder stitch). In my last video (DIY of a mini teddy bear), I specify what stitches I use for every parts, it's the same technique, it may help you 😁
Hi, I just wanted to say that I am going to enlarge the pattern...........I was hoping however that you would do another video putting together a bear WITHOUT joints? I looked at Alitoysa video as you suggested, I didn’t really like her video, I like yours better. Please give it some thought :)
Hi ! It's going to be a very big bear ! I'd love to see the result, if you can send me a photo when you're done it'd be lovely (through instagram or via email) 😀 The next video will be about how to embroider eyes, and then the DIY of a plushie (maybe a rabbit) with a music box and without joints. Probably around summer, not tomorrow but definitely this year.

Hello i may have missed it but where can i find the pattern for this adorable bear?
Hello 😄 The link for the pattern is in the description box, just below the video. In case you don't find it, here's the link : drive.google.com/file/d/1XGl8W10LbsZc0LR_j8A9F9kC3wyUXPDb/view?usp=sharing
Thank you 😄 I'm glad my videos are helpful.
Thank you for thé vidéo. ❤
will i be able to add a colored tummy?
Yes
Absolutely, just use a different fabric for the belly part ☺
hi! so, i wanted to make this for my grandma who lives abroad and hasn't been able to see us bc of rona. idk much about sewing, but i was wondering if yall think it would be possible to make this without the joints + maybe with a speaker in the foot so we can record a message for her? like i said idk what i'm doing but im super excited anyways!
if you go to build a bear they might let you purchase just the noise box that has a squeeze to activate function if i remember correctly.
Hello. May I ask the size of the eyes and nose? 😊 Thank you
Hello, the eyes are 15mm and the nose is 14mm.
hi! how many meters of fabric did you use?
Hi! if you're cutting all the pieces in one row, you'll need a minimum of 22cm / 9inch in height for 147cm / 58inch in width.
If you're doing it in two rows, then it's 44cm / 18 inches in height for 78cm / 31 inches in width.
+ 15x15cm / 6x6 inches of fabric for the paws / soles.
You'll find links in the description box to two pictures that shows the amount of fabric you will need.
Hope this helps you! 😊
If I want make the bear larger, how much would I enlarge it on a copier? Say 20 inch bear.
Do the patterns come on A4 paper, or is the paper bigger, so can these be printed on an A4 paper printer? :)
Well it was good. But specify it's jointed I'm looking for one that is not jointed.
I'm making this atm, but I don't get how you have sewn the head and I'm stuck 🤣
Hi ! 😀 You can see better how to sew the head on my video "Mini Teddy Bear DIY" at 03:03. It's the same method. Hope this help 👍
I'd love to make this bear, but I do not see a link for the pattern. Help!
Hello 😄 The link for the pattern is in the description box, just below the video. In case you don't find it, here's the link : drive.google.com/file/d/1XGl8W10LbsZc0LR_j8A9F9kC3wyUXPDb/view?usp=sharing
@@tedDIYbear Thank you very much. For some reason when I was trying to see it, it would not open the notes. But now, lol it shows it all. Thank you very much!
Hello! What does print in A4 format mean? Sorry to be a bother.
Hi, you don't bother me at all ! A4 is the standard paper size to print. I'm French, maybe this format is not commun in your country, it's similar to the 'Letter' size which mesures 8,5 x 11 inches (210x297mm). 😄
@@tedDIYbear Thank you very much for your time. I am looking forward to making this bear! Happy New Year to you!
Where did you get the belly button and eyes?
Hi, I listed everything I used in the description box below the video. If you can't access it, here's the links : black plastic eyes

@@tedDIYbear what size eyes and joints do you use? The link lists options from 12-20mm for the eyes
@@fischersgirl1720 Hi ! 12mm for the eyes and Ø35 for the joints. 😊
How large is this teddy? Can it be made without the joints?
Hi 😊 the bear is 32cm (12.6 inches) standing on his feet and 20cm (7.9 inches) sitting down. Yes you can make it without the joints, in this case you'll need to sew the legs, arms and the head with a ladder stitch 🧵
Oh okay. Is it possible to show this in a video? I’m making one for a baby shower soon.
I have planned on doing a rabbit with the body parts sewn instead of the joints, but only around May / June. If you need it now, I saw that 'Alitoysa' did a teddy bear DIY tutorial in which she sews the parts, you should check her video 😇
I tried following the other pattern that was suggested. It was. AHOT mess. I’m going to do yours now. Have you ever resize it to be bigger?
You can resize my pattern to make it bigger, sure. I personally haven't, but there is plenty of advice on how to do so on the Internet. I would love to see the result though !😁
Do I need a sewing machine or can I hand sew this?
Hi, you can use a sewing machine or do it entirely by hand.
Hello I love this! However I’m having trouble downloading the pattern. I have the link and it says download and then it sends me to another page but doesn’t download to my phone, or do I have to download it on my computer?
Never mind I got it! Sorry 😂
Lindo!!! Obrigada!!!
It looks amazing
Looks like sam from bear* (roblox game)
It's cute
Merci bcp c tres utile pour moi
Bonjour. La vidéo est très bien faite mais comment avec vous obtenu le patron ?
Bonjour, le lien du patron est dans la barre de description.
how do i make a bear holding a heart?
Hi ! 😊 You need to sew the heart to the paws with a ladder stitch.
Thanks for the tutorial! Can this be made using a sewing machine instead of hand sewing? :)
Hi ! 😀 Yes, you can use a sewing machine.
@@tedDIYbear thanks for the reply! 😊
I'm about to get started on this DIY but I noticed my fabric frays when I cut it out, do you know if it will it stop fraying when it is sewn?
@@melissadelvecchio1246 Hi 😊 it shouldn't be a problem as you'll sew all around the fabric, which will keep it from fraying. Eventually, make the seam allowance larger when cutting the fabric.
@@tedDIYbear okay, thank you!!
Where can I find this pattern

I'm thinking of starting up again
Thanks for the help! I’m planning to make my own teddy bear and his name is going to be bobby the bear I already drew a picture of how I want him to look like!
Hi Pony 😊 Bobby the bear is a great name ! I love it 🐻
amazing
Is the joint step optional?
Hi ! Yes it's optional. If you don't use joints, sew the limbs and head directly to the body using a ladder stitch 😄
@@tedDIYbear thank you so so much!!
Great tutorial i'm almost finished - so how did you do the mouth when the head is already closed? Its gonna be a gift to my gf :))
Hi ! 😀 You can see step-by-step how to embroider a mouth (same method that the head is open or closed, you hide the knot in the neck area) on my latest video ("Mini Teddy Bear DIY") at 11:57.
@@tedDIYbear Wow thank you for taking the time to respond! Its so amazing that you brought me to try something i never thought i would enjoy!
Où puis je trouver le patron svp ???
Le lien pour télécharger le patron est dans la description sous la vidéo 🧸
@@tedDIYbear merci bcp
omg this is great!!!!! ive been wanting to make a plushie teddy bear bag- but make it a duck! 🤣 may i know what stitches did you use? im not really good in sewing and idek if sewing stitches have names or something 😭
Hi 😊 I used a backstitch for everything except for closing the head (running stitch) and the openings at the end (ladder stitch). In my last video (DIY of a mini teddy bear), I specify what stitches I use for every parts, it's the same technique, it may help you 😁
@@tedDIYbear oh okay thank you so much!!!!!!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Update how did it go
Hi, I just wanted to say that I am going to enlarge the pattern...........I was hoping however that you would do another video putting together a bear WITHOUT joints? I looked at Alitoysa video as you suggested, I didn’t really like her video, I like yours better. Please give it some thought :)
Hi ! It's going to be a very big bear ! I'd love to see the result, if you can send me a photo when you're done it'd be lovely (through instagram or via email) 😀 The next video will be about how to embroider eyes, and then the DIY of a plushie (maybe a rabbit) with a music box and without joints. Probably around summer, not tomorrow but definitely this year.
Tank you
😁😁😁
YAAAY I made a living nightmare!!!! I'll keep trying but for now I'ma name him monster uwu
I’m thinking of making teddies and selling for lgbt are u ok if I use the template?
Yes, plushies made from my pattern may be sold with attribution. It's the pattern that cannot be sold. You'll need to give credit to tedDIYbear in the description box of your product and its tag ( "Design by tedDIYbear", and if possible, using the font of my logo, I can send it to you by email). Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information at contact@teddiybear.com 😄
