Mark Schlereth and Mike Evans breakdown the Steelers signing Russell Wilson and how the fit may actually be perfect. The two also discuss why Justin Fields' trade value may have diminished and why Safeties are the only position not getting paid.

Mark Schlereth is my new favorite NFL commentator and that's saying a lot given how many of them there are. Guy is straight shooter and I love it.
Thanks man
Mark is the best! The Steelers have nothing to lose!
Let’s hope the Broncos hit the draft running. Nice podcast
Looks like the same ether that we were under Pittsburgh. No extensions! Waiting for the new slogan to replace the Let’s Ride.
What awesome humility and thankfulness.
If anyone can get Tomlin fired, it’s Dangeruss. I’m just surprised Ciara agreed to move to Pittsburgh.
she won't move there.
I’ve never been to Pittsburgh, but it seems like a nicer city than people realize. It’s nothing like Philadelphia.
Awesome podcast....
Go Steelers!
And best of luck to Russ.
It improves our team
Thanks! Good luck, Steelers
You had me at let's smelter!!!.... Ahmad Rashad was my fav steeler....hehehe.. John Stallworth... Jerome bettis...big ben... russ who???...ouchie... just had the ball off #3... got it???...
Wow they were doing tricks on it for Sean Payton 😂
I quote "Let's Smelt"
Why did Payton leave New Orleans?
Lifelong Steeler fan here, personally I'm not sure if this will work. The Steelers weapons are extremely overrated but hey you never know. To be honest, I would've liked to have seen them just trade up and get a QB but hey- maybe it'll work. I do think that a lot of people around here think it's going to be the Wilson from 10 years ago.
It will not work, Russ is terrible.
Yeah I wanna see his td to int ratio this year
With more talent and a system catered to his strengths? Do you think it will be worse?
@@Thepessimest This “more talent” take is hilarious. The Steelers have an equal amount of raw talent as the Broncos. The Broncos also have a better line. It’s time for people to face it: Russ is awful. He does not make the Steelers better and he will not be starting by week 6.
Hey Stink, so I’ve heard people talk about Arch Manning out of Texas being possible compared to Todd Marinovich. A lot of hype. What have you heard?
I haven't heard that I know he's getting great mentoring from both Peyton and Eli
So basically Mark's saying as long as the field is largely cut in half from a good defense and the run game does half the work leaving Wilson with like 30 yards to contend with he's a useful QB.
He’s a $37M game manager.
Russ should have been thankful to Sean.. 😂
Set him up to fail? Then why did he have his best season in 3 years?
Great call.
Shoul have kept Rudolph and drafted a quarterback
They will stink up the place
Rusted wilson going to oxidize in the steel city
Broncos should've gotten Deshaun Watson, who wanted to come to Denver and play with Juedy and Kareem Jackson. Broncos was too worried about the "Short term looks of the girl"...a great media day and homecoming rather than the "long term substance of the girl", a bad media gamble but a long term franchise QB with Super Bowl potential.
He hasn't been good in Cleveland
@StinkinTruthPodcast 🫨, dude went 5-1 while he was healthy in his first "full" season back. Including going 14-14 in the second half of the Browns comeback vs the Ravens defense IN Baltimore WITH a dislocated/ broken shoulder. Come on, Stink..... you know better! You're the football guru!! Broncos definitely could've built around him.
Steelers are going to stick up the place with these 2 terrible quarterbacks.
Russ has 336 touchdowns to only 106 interceptions. Russ has the 3rd best td to interception ratio in NFL history. Russ is the only QB in NFL history with 40k yards passing and 5k rushing. Russ has the 4th highest QB rating in NFL history (100.00). Russ has 32 4th quarter comebacks. 10th all time. Russ tied Peyton Manning in 2020 by throwing 16 touchdowns in his first 4 games. Russ also is behind only Peyton Manning for td throws in his first year 10 years. Manning threw 306. Russ threw 292. I’m just giving you this information as Mark talks about him in a very condescending way. Russ can’t read progressions, Russ can’t anticipate, and Russ is horrible. Per Mark. I want you all to think about his accomplishments and then ask if what Mark is saying is fair commentary.
Great insight but Russ simply has not played well for years! Some lose it faster than others and most fall off a cliff pretty fast.
@@Badger5280 this isn’t true. He played well in his last year in Seattle. He got hurt and came back early. Go look at his numbers that year to end the year. He was killing! The sad thing about Russ is the narratives that are repeated without factual evidence to back it up. He’s had exactly 1 bad statistical season in his entire year and that was the Hackett year. That’s it. And we now know Hackett can’t coach offense unless Rodgers is his QB. So all this “3 coaches have now given up on Russ” talk also isn’t true. Carroll didn’t give up on Russ. Seattle didn’t want to pay him. Not because of his play. Hackett didn’t give up on Russ. Hackett was a terrible coach. Payton did give up on Russ because Russ isn’t the kind of QB at the price he wants. Sadly Mark loses credibility when he talks about a QB who’s headed to the hall of fame and say things like “he can’t read defenses” “can’t throw with anticipation” and “can’t run an offense”. Russ’s numbers suggest that those comments are simply not true.
@@Badger5280 here are Russ numbers the last 4 years.
40 tds 13 picks,
25 tds 6 picks (got hurt and missed games)
16 tds 11 picks,
26 tds 8 picks.
In the last 4 years that’s 102 tds thrown to only 38 interceptions.
His QB ratings the last 4 years are:
105.1, 103.1, 84.4, 98.
Imagine saying someone like that hasn’t been good in 4 years.
The facts do not support the narratives that are repeated. And they really don’t support Mark Schlereth mocking him and calling him names on a podcast.
Yet two teams have walked away from him in his quarterbacking prime to the tune of $111 million in dead cap money. But yes, russ is a victim and life isn't fair.
Wilson and Fields both stink. Sad day to be a Steeler fan for over 40 years
