Well, I've had a similar experience in middle school. I personally used to have long hair (even though I'm a guy) due to the dumb "emo/goth phase" you know, wearing all black, black hair, chains, spike bracers, the works.. I was part of a group of mostly girls and a few guys as we shared similar interests. And there were times where as strange as it may be that I had to brush their hair. And weirdly enough I was pretty damn good at it, came up with a few new obscure styles and often had to do "matinence" on them. I ended up dating all of the girls at one time or another. I'm guessing that this sort of thing appeals to women's "sensitive side", cause when a guy is good at this sort of thing and based on how well he treats the girl's hair, shows that he is in touch with their feminine side and generally understands what women want. At least, that's been my way of thinking.
As a professional cosmetologist, I can assure you this is definitely a thing albeit a bit exaggerated here. It's also not just limited to women. Several of my male clients will actually straight up fall asleep. Heck, I get the same thing. In some rare cases (extremely rare), I have had some women become flustered or aroused though only a little.

Brushing hair is so relaxing…😌 for both parties. There’s just something about it that makes me feel happy and at ease. Any stress just floats away like a gentle breeze… I’m relaxing a little just thinking about it…it’s such a nice feeling…whether the hair is running through your fingers or the brush in another’s hand gives a gentle constant pull through to your hair.
