love these vids... my dad died nearly 20 years ago, i miss him every day but seeing dad n lad like this sharing life's journey, influencing health n longevity, bonding etc warms my heart...
Thank you for sharing his journey (for lack of a better word) with us! For me too coming face to face with the reality of how animals were treated in video was so hard... I'm tearing up just thinking about it, but I do feel like for someone who is so close to a lifetime commitment of ending their part in animal suffering like your son it is crucial so I'm glad he's made the choice to watch some footage. For my two daughters, they always knew our food came from animals, but didn't really understand of course. I didn't have to show them anything or really tell them much more than animals are hurt alot and are killed for this and we don't even need to eat it in order to be healthy and they had a cry and were ready right then and there to stop. I think children are capable of accessing their compassion much faster than us as jaded adults. I think once he's made that final ethical connection, bless his heart, it won't be hard for the rest of the family to switch. How exciting-thank you again!
With his little girl, most kids like chicken nuggets and hotdogs. I'd offer her the vegan version of those to start. Also going vegan is a process for many. The important thing is to keep going! I've been vegan 5 yrs now and I haven't watched Cowspiracy or Hope & Glory because I'll be too haunted.
@@teresajose2280 Awe, I'm really sorry it was so traumatizing for you. If it's really bad & you're having anxiety look up EFT Tapping therapy. It's a clinically proven therapy for panic attacks, ptsd, & anxiety issues. It's helped me immensely for years. Dr Kim D"Eramo is on yt & there's other people on yt as well. It's basically giving yourself one more tool in a tool box of things you can use to get you through tough times. Which we all need more than ever in the past 2 years. Hope you feel better. 💞💞💞
Land of hope and glory was the documentary that made my husband decide to be fully vegan. He couldn't bare the sound of the pigs struggling and dying, it is horrific 😢
Well done, Young Hench & fam!! You’ve done great after such a sudden switch. Hope you’ll keep it going. 👏🏼💚😃💪🏼 it’s only gonna get better! I was vegetarian for decades but STILL found veganism a steep learning curve, so respect to you. Some of the Quorn/meat replacement ham/chicken slices would be good for a sandwich over going back to animal products. There’s loadsa stuff now in the supermarkets isn’t there, I bet Karl will have fun trying them! Think Oatly do a cream cheese type alternative now too. Not sure if it’s just mainly oats or if it’s full of bad stuff but might also be worth a try? As those new options are discovered, the easier and more fun this will be 😊 Good luck, we will be cheering you on! 💚💚💚💚
Very nice update guys, I really hope he continues to make the connection an instil positive changes for himself and others. As they say unfortunately quite often family and friends can be the hardest to be open minded on these issues.🌱🧠💚
My stepdaughter is 7 and dead against eating anything vegan. But she loves sushi with marinated tofu, cucumber and avocado. Keep at it mate, real men eat plants 👊
My children are too against anything vegan, but I have been slowly managed to put some vegan foods on the table :) It's slow process and I don't want to "scare" them.
My 11year old daughters favourite vegan meal of yours Hench is the Japanese noodle soup. Whenever I ask "what would you like on the menu this week?" Its always Japanese noodle soup with crispy tofu. We love your cookbook x
That's a great shout. Don't shy away from that connection. When my boy is ready, I'm going to encourage him to do it for the animals over any other reason. You make that connection and then there will be no willpower required. Right now my boy tried it for health and that means every now and again he'll slip. But recognise you're paying for something you're fundamentally against and it's smooth sailing 🙂👊🏽
I watched Game Changers, Earthlings, Dominion, Cowspiracy... I was in bits and it put me into a huge depression for about 12-18 months. I'm so much better now after counselling, the guilt was immense, but after getting through it I'm SO much happier, knowing I'm not a hypocrite and no longer responsible from suffering and murder of thousands of animals. Love this series! I'm going to share it :) Thanks for making it guys... sending loads of love from Essex ;) x
Lovely wholesome video, much better for the blood pressure than watching abbey 'I lack self-control so others will have to suffer but don't be mean and call me out on it' sharps.
That Tempeh bacon is really yum but really expensive (I bought them for Valentine's brunch). Lots of supermarkets sell plain Tempeh now and by slicing thinly & baking it in a marinade of smoked paprika (maybe with liquid smoke too), maple syrup and soya sauce. Recently I made tempeh with a dry rub but crumbled into pieces instead of sliced. It works great as a meaty replacement!
hi, as a tip for quick snack or meal i hear little talk about dried fruit. fresh is the best option since you still need more water after eating dried. but dried dates, figs or raisins, perhaps with unsalted nuts. you can have some cinnamon or cocoa powder on dried fruit for the candy taste :)
Peanut butter baby. In my opinion he might wanna try just stickin to whatever's vegan for his transition. Get all the fake meats and don't stress. Then, eventually work in the healthy stuff and go slowly into that.
Paul, you're a big inspiration of mine. Your son is lucky to have you as a dad! A quick question - I'm newly vegan and while trying to be healthy, I struggle with 'naughty' food(vegan naughty food now, lol). Is it bad to eat lets say muesli bars or dark chocolate, do you consume such food (pleasurable in a way)? Thanks!
Thanks for the love, my friend! By far the biggest killer of humans is diet. I eat the vast majority of my foods in whole food form. Chocolate has cocoa butter which causes the number one killer of westerners, heart disease and refined sugar is a bigger risk factor than sat fat for Alzheimer’s (the biggest killer of UK residents). I avoid both
Definitely at 7, just keep serving it over and over. The catch is to make it non-threatening with no pressure. So serve a small amount of it on a plate with some of her favourites (my kids like sides of fruit, cut vege or a Vegemite sandwich etc) it takes the pressure away and they are more likely to give it a go. Also veganise her favourite dishes, even if you have to use some less healthy stuff to start with ❤
Karl will have a tough watch ahead of him with those recommendations :P And I think I am in the minority here but I dont like Gary Yourofski or his speech, he mostly annoys and angers me.
I know it might not be the best thing, but when I didn't have enough time to eat during work I'd have Huel (meal replacement shake type thing). Super easy, super quick, decent taste.
Karl is on a very good way and he is not alone, respect for the first steps - these are the hardest - and all the best for the future, you can do it 💪🌱
Very nice catch up. Stick with it, he'll make a great vegan! :) Also, great suggestion to watch Gary Yourofsky's speech, it was his talks that turned me vegan six years ago. Cowboy is super cute, by the way..
Its quite interesting to see someone that feel so strongly about veganism while their children are not. One hand is great to see since so many vegan don't know about nutrition and forces it on their kids since birth. But on the other hand he does call it a holocaust. Kind of like would you be friend with a murderer or a nazi supporter. Is he proud of his son? Or he gets a special pass just because. Kind of like does veganism actually matter at the end then?
some advice if it helps, our daughter is now one and was born vegan, when we make chilli we make the base sauce the same as ours, onions, garlic, paprika, cinnamon, balsamic vinegar, nooch, beans, lentils etc.. we then take out what she would eat for that night and next day, we then add to ours chilli powder, yeast extract, soy sauce, chilli flakes. we do this with all meals, just before you add the real heat or spice we split. we have started to slowly add tiny bits to hers so she gets used to it. this goes the same with curry, spag you name it, soon enough they can eat the same minus the salt etc. best of luck.
Well, he's got the best guide for this journey.
SQUAAAD! Thanks bestie!

Good advice for Karl , show him how to make seitan and black bean burgers ! He will be soon an ethical vegan .
