Interesting to see the optimism for the NZ market! Big US indices have shown upcoming recession-like indicators (eg EMA crossovers and recent VIX spike mirrors events preceding covid crash, 2008 GFC and other massive market events) if there were to be an emerging bear market in the overall US market, could that possibly dampen these recovery expectations? Another random question! Do you think the recent yen carry trade fiasco had much impact on NZ markets and trading? Do we know if there were many of those investment setups in place over here which may have had an impact? Thanks for the content!
Interesting to see the correlation between NZ listed companies and really how dependent/interconnected they all are to each other. Would love to get your take on Rakon NZX RAK.
So, while businesses are asking, "Have we found the bottom yet", the NZX50 index value appears to be reflecting bumper profits for it's listed companies! With a value of 12,300, the index is more than 500% higher than it was in 2009 at just 2,600 points!!! What's going on?
Each time there is a fund manager on I look into their performance. I'm not surprised to see yet another fund manager taking ~1% in fees and delivering market performance though Shane's funds do seem to slightly outperform the benchmark. Someone managing your funds is another risk factor and adds drag to your performance. I don't see the upside. It's been studied and the results show it's impossible to pick a good fund manager based on past performance.
Great to touch on a few key points like the gross incompetence we see at a board level across NZ and a shortage of CEOs, particularly those capable of making change. Lots of fine weather friends CEOs out there. Would love to see an interview with someone who’s prepared to tell it straight and be authentic on this topic. If you need help let me know
@@Osprey6m I hope you’re not referring to me pal. I make my comments as a company director, entrepreneur, CEO and director who financially retired at 40 and sees first hand the well meaning but poorly equipped board rooms across NZ. Simply wanting to see better for those employed by said companies
Shane is dressed to say 'greed is good', but he can't as a good Kiwi find the enthusiasm to do so. But he still strikes as a creepy shark out to exploit the ordinary honest hard working naive kiwi.
Shane is one of the hardest working people I know. His analysis has inspired some other episodes you may have seen on my channel. And I thought his tie was fun, made the chat seem less depressing haha
Odd interview of generalities but not much insight. This down cycle was covid capital inspired. The government and reserve bank incompetence has led to market instability. We now have the threat of an energy shortage. This is a very risky environment from a capital investment standpoint point.
All of which I've covered in previous episodes. Reserve Bank episode: ua-cam.com/video/AnNqKfE1OUA/v-deo.html Energy shortage episodes: ua-cam.com/video/VFzm7XjaGpg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Mh7mIQHbYfo/v-deo.html Enjoy.
Current high interest rates aren't the cause of our economic woes they're a symptom. The previous government's reckless and wasteful spending caused inflation to skyrocket.
Drop any companies you want me to cover this earnings season in the comments. Going to be a crazy month!
Infratil, The Warehouse, Genesis
@@jermunitz3020 great minds, I'm planning episodes on all of them! Infratil coming this Friday
Mainfreight, Ryman Health, A2Milk, Synlait.

Air NZ. They have been a shocker and unfortunately their largest shareholder is the most responsible

Great to have a kiwi focused program. Interested in what has happened in Japan and implications or not to nz.
Japan episode here from a month ago - a bit has changed since then! ua-cam.com/video/wG7MlHpVjvo/v-deo.html
