Jeffanawa Nah Two of the matches were played on Leffens counterpick which HEAVILY favors Fox. M2k has FD which is like a free win for him vs Leffen. It wasn't close.
Jeffanawa Nah You can't really say "if X happened, Y would have won", because there were hundreds if not thousands of things that could have gone differently in game 1 to cause either M2K or Leffen to win or even 4 stock each other. All that matters is what did happen, which was a 3-0. Also in this context I think getting wrecked just means generally getting outplayed and styled on stock-by-stock (M2K had some pretty sick creative combos), regardless of stock count at the end. At this level of play it's expected that players aren't going to 3-stock each other.
***** In an interview, Scar said to m2k "you beat Leffen" and m2k responded "yeah, as usual". I'm pretty sure he isn't worried. Leffen has a huge marth weakness.
This has the correct form of commentary so much, it actually made me smile. For one, they made clean jokes, nothing against players, just actual jokes in the smash setting during this particular match up. It caught my eye as actual commentary throughout the video, but what nailed it for me was when the commentator said how he looks at the whole picture when he watches the match. Im pleased to see a sense of grown up individuality in the smash setting and not just some blow up in your face remarks about the match in itself. Great match! And I can't wait to see more.
I'm surprised no one has commented on the fact that, throughout this tournament, Scar was ranting about his newfound respect for "Marth" via playing Fire Emblem: Awakening.
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I'm glad to see Leffen do so well this tournament. I couldn't care less about his "ego" and "evidence.zip" and whatever; he was playing to win all weekend. Great set by both of them.
Toph on sword-characters: "... when coming from the lowest social-economic class..." He gets it, all of it. 1:29 Scar on melee interpretation: "... based on audio-visual cues... THE KEN COMBO OHHH!!!" Remember when Leffen was a dick?
How are M2K's wavedashes onto edge so crisp? Like at 10:00. I know he fast falls after the wavedash, but does he hold the control stick towards the stage as well? Or does this have to do with Wavedash distance? Everytime I try to do it, Marth's momentum puts me too far off to grab the ledge. Can anyone help with this?
You don't fastfall. You do a regular fall, youse x or y to jump, and point the control stick almost parallel with the stage and wavedash/wave land. It's a very cool technique but it takes a lot of practice.
You have to fastfall after the wavedash but let go of the control stick before you grab the ledge because you cannot grab the ledge while you are holding down on the control stick. Basically you just want to hold down for the first few frames where you are in the air and then let go. It takes some practice but it is a very useful tool once you've got the hang of it.
This commenters were biased as hell. In my opinion, Leffen played a great Fox and pulled off some great stuff in these matches, like taking M2K's second stock and only taking 3% damage while doing so in game three. I just feel like he might have lost focus at certain points during every game, and that's understandable. However, I am a Marth main in PM and I think these games are some of the hypest Marth games I've ever seen and they make me want to get really good at all the technical stuff. I had respect for M2K before, but it seems like he can play almost any character this way. I really respect him for that.
So everyone gives Chillin a hard time for popping off early during his MM with leffen, noone's going to mention leffen's equally stupid pop off at 3:32?
Don't know if it was just me, but Scar's off tangent comments on random shit during matches this tournament were way more prevalent and obnoxious than previously.
"Breezes by Leffen" umm not really. He did 3-0 him, but Leffen got him down to one stock all three games. Well, dang. I'm not sure how good Leffen really is as I don't really watch his games, but did anyone expect this? Is he underrated or what.
i think m2k played close to mango at his best in this which is saying a lot, and as much as i kinda like leffen it is satisfying to watch him get thirtyed
Haven't watched the next two videos but it just seems like the Gods (in this case M2K and Mang0) have powered up even more. I'm no expert on m2k's marth but he was extremely smooth throughout this video. Also 69th comment ;)
"M2K you destroyed Leffen. What happened?"
"What happened is: 1) Leffen talked shit 2) I wanted to destroy him 3) I destroyed him"
I am the one who asked him that question in ZFG's chat.
Omar Khawja I remember that.
"I speedrun my opponents. Like Leffen, lol."
Sounds about right 👌
lol m2k
Incredible by M2K. I loved it when the commentators started discussing Marth and Link's socio-economic class :)
1:08 Conversation of the year!
Watching Leffen get wrecked by M2K pleased me greatly.
Jeffanawa Nah Because he lost 3-0...

StudioInspiration exactly, leffen even said he doesn't like playing marth
"That's like saying that green is the opposite of wood"
Thomas Liebrecht SAT questions in a nutshell
Leffen pre-popoff at 3:33 gets me every time lmao
7:05 No. Fucking. Way.
that was absolutely insane
Doppelmetz Yeah I had to replay that like 8 times just to believe that it actually happened in a tournament.
Doppelmetz I GOT FUCKING CHILLS! Xdddd
Doppelmetz I'm fucking using that next time I Fthrow a fox off a ledge instead of Dtilt. That was too hype.
this stuff happens all the time in a 60-40 matchup
5:25 was so sick by Mew2King. Had no idea that worked.
stitchfaces It doesn't, years of practice and it still doesn't x.X M2K made it work...
Raphael Chantigny I've gotten it to work before, it is a very hard input ._.

I'm surprised Leffen didn't..... smash his controller :)
6:10 Toph makes a UMvC3 Taskmaster reference and gets sad because Scar didn't notice
Return of the King
When Tofu (yes, I'm gonna call him tofu.) said that Link was part of the "lower economic class", I thought he was talking about the tier list.
The Dead as a doorknob is going in the commentator combo video.
Lol
I'm surprised no one has commented on the fact that, throughout this tournament, Scar was ranting about his newfound respect for "Marth" via playing Fire Emblem: Awakening.
it's so hilariously dumb
Bruh. This commentary is great. Haha.
try to comment right plz smh
That nasty down-spike, though . . BEAUTIFUL .
lmfao. down spike.
its down-air
Same difference .
Lol true
+Michael Bastidas The down air is a spike though
“Leffen does not like Marth!”
Still true in 2021.
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I'm glad to see Leffen do so well this tournament. I couldn't care less about his "ego" and "evidence.zip" and whatever; he was playing to win all weekend. Great set by both of them.
I'm just happy when gods are slain by demis.
I keep coming back to watch this
I even downloaded it
6:48 where do they get these announcers from? ranting about the phrase "dead as a doorknob" like WTF focus on the game
God this commentary is so good. I love watching these old sets.
3:33 What are you standing up for!?
I feel like this video is the definition of beautiful marth play. It's just so clean
jason's combos with marth are soo....pure and yet so vicious at the same time.
M2K's Marth is godly.
M2ks Lucina is on point
Fat
this comment served as a hint that m2k would use lucina in ultimate
10:07 Leffen, your ego is showing.
Lol at Leffen's premature pop-off at 3:31
3:30 why wasnt that on gr smash top 10 early popoff
6:55 DOORNAIL
Toph on sword-characters: "... when coming from the lowest social-economic class..."
He gets it, all of it.
1:29
Scar on melee interpretation: "... based on audio-visual cues...
THE KEN COMBO OHHH!!!"
Remember when Leffen was a dick?
lmfao the mini mew2kings' saying didn't heard that from toph before

Hey I hope this isn't a stupid question. But I almost never see M2K use Marth's deflect move. Are they not allowed to use it or what?
its just very easy to punish so its usually not worth it. for the most part its only used against recklessly aggressive players
The only common use for counter is to easily punish recoveries like Fox's up-B when the Fox has no choice but to either up-B into the counter or die.
I believe the saying is, "dead as a door nail."
0:55 does that attack still spike/meteor in the 3ds/wii u versions?
Yep
In the 3ds/wii u versions, you have to be directly above your opponent AND land a tipper to spike/meteor.
7:43 lol that pause
I would love to know what this venue smelled like.
YES M2K!
When leffen does jab, move left/right up smash, is he wavedashing or just dashing into the up smash?
lkrauss100 Jump cancel up-smash
Wow m2ks marth is incredible and its a beautiful thing to see. Such amazing combos
7:02 M2k Dominance
What is a dropzone? I thought it was only something Falcon could do.
Just when you run off a ledge into an attack instead of jumping off. The most popular of which is Falcon's DThrow to dropzone knee.
GimR, the video's audio is desynced from the start.... :(
It's crazy revisiting this set 5 years later. Leffeb still losing to Marry but this time Zain.
3:35 leffen celebrating a little too early LOL
7:03 best moment in the match.
That was freaking dirty!
.... I wanna see it again! 😃
Just putting this out there...I look up to mewtwoking...A LOT.
Same here brutha. M2K is the reason I play Melee
4 years later Leffen's Fox will put them all to shame. This Fox looks more balanced unlike the future on that's all out.
Scar has gotten so much better at commentary. Love hearing him on the mic now.
Leffen held up really well, I'm so proud.
first round was like a fucking great poetic story damn .
6:15 TASKMASTER REFERENCE! I HEAR YOU TOPH
Lol thought the same thing. It fell flat but i was like "UMVC3 :O"
mew2king expressing himself
I dont know why, but the players that quit out right before they lose always seem like the most hated.
Its too hot! Here we go! Its too hot! Here we go!... etc. Thats the sound of me clicking the rewind button over and over again
Is it true that M2K might quit Melee?
Quit Melee? In favor of what?
Guys comment the match please
10:07 He shakes his head and rolls his eyes, as if to say, actually I don't know what he must be thinking...
"It's such bullshit that he won _just_ because he's better than me. Nonsense, I say!"
not to ruin the fun, but he was probably just rollin his eyes at how he died or that he put up such a "poor" performance. ya know, 3-0
it's dead as a door NAIL actually
that one guy in the audience wearing the Solaire hoodie
Leffen looked like pure evil in the player cam.
I'm still not convinced leffen is good. he uses the same techniques and rarely adapts or improvises.
Please tell me you didn't watch a certain tournament three days ago.
he took 2 sets off armada this month.
Bill W. and mango
Bill W. and he took $1000 from him lmao
FizzzyFizzz
Yeah. I take it back. he's improved a lot in the past year.
I can relate to leffen because I play Fox too. I usually switch to Sheik when I play Marth's
M2k I challenge you to a battle in super smash bros 3ds Stefano
Scar and Toph at their finest here
The last stock of game 1 is fucking insane.
M2K DROPZONE WAS GODLIKE.
Title?
I laughed at the white collar joke.
Zeldedede Ab9 lol I died at it XD

I hate when players end the match with the no contest screen when they lose! That Leffen dude has the worst attitude to play this sport.
"Well doorknobs are certainly not alive.." xD
So everyone gives Chillin a hard time for popping off early during his MM with leffen, noone's going to mention leffen's equally stupid pop off at 3:32?
+Toast Oh yeah? and whens the last time chillin got top 3 at anything other than regional tourney?
Don't know if it was just me, but Scar's off tangent comments on random shit during matches this tournament were way more prevalent and obnoxious than previously.
I could see why someone would dislike it, but I think it usually leads to pretty funny banter with him and his usual co-commentators (mango/toph)
And the taunt. lol
kinda sucks that m2k didn't win it all he played really well this tour
damn m2k should've taken this tournament.
He did...
Bob 1734
he lost to mango in grands dude
Leffen has a real Marth problem. And he choked away that first match damn, that was quite a big momentum loss for him
9:47 lffn should have shine >up B ledge stall and maintained invincibility
Jonathan burrito well idk actually. marth still had a jump...
Prob random fearlessness and reading marths recovery with a shine woulda worked >.>
Jonathan burrito He probably tried to input a drop down double jump bair but did the jump input to early which lead to that ledge jump
Toph and Scar's commentating is so funny!
7:07 WHAT THE FUCK
It's deader than a door nail, not door knob. Made famous by Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol." Read up Scar and Toph.
I love M2K honestly its so awesome when he wins
It's "dead as a doornail" for anyone who cares
"Breezes by Leffen" umm not really. He did 3-0 him, but Leffen got him down to one stock all three games. Well, dang. I'm not sure how good Leffen really is as I don't really watch his games, but did anyone expect this? Is he underrated or what.
And 1 year later. Leffen beat Mewtwo king. SHIT!
Darkstar Editor i here leffen is good can someone show me if theres any video of the recent battles ?
m2k 6-0'd leffen recently.
2:43 Snagger no snagging.. sneaky snake
So glad M2K 3-0ed him. Also 7:03 was orgasmic.
2:50 M2K GETS ME CREAMY
i think m2k played close to mango at his best in this which is saying a lot, and as much as i kinda like leffen it is satisfying to watch him get thirtyed

Man I wish I lived in a place called fucking Romulus
dead as a doorknob comes from Shakespeare
Is there any character that Leffen doesnt despise losing to? Fox vs Fox I guess??
such a good set
Jake Greenberg, I see you
and leffen ALSO gets four stocked AFTER this lol! rip
The comments on that game made me laugh so hard at some points. x')
"warrior prince" please toph, Hero King
