Great video Jeff. Your advice about extending the life of the digger is spot on, I have been asked why we have 'Leading' and 'Trailing' shoes on the track? And what would happen if the track was fitted the other way? It would appear that the track would grip better in wet slippery conditions, but I've never heard of anyone trying it. What are your thoughts?

This is the kind of training heavy equipment technicians need nowadays , I worked in John Deere for years and we never learned any of this glad I switched to repairing Cat !

we always learn to dig over the sprockets in school so the cylinders at the back of your idlers do t get wear

You tighten them up. There is a grease fitting for each track that you pump grease into which pushes out the idler wheel to tighten the track.

I love Caterpillar I think they make the best darn products there is. they're comfortable to use have awesome power Great Machines 1995 320 L I am also presidential candidate against the Messiah LOL Robert Sandera
I also used to work at Perkins diesel when it was down the street from Catapillar I'm on a big farm and I'm glad I bought the bigger machine 312s are nice but I wanna build me a lake. I have springs so I also built a Trout pond all natural.

Buy one online as there always updating procedures slightly , A Cat dude told me hes always used a rust prevention lube for the cab mount bolts as per procedure, but theyv recently updated it to loctite , if you had the paper book you wouldn't know
