They don't choose the venue, but anything inside the security perimeter is really their responsibility. Now Trump should have been safe especially in a deep Red portion of the state of Pennsylvania.

From what I understand they simply just didn't think they needed it. Obviously that was laziness on their part but I hate how everyone is crying conspiracy when really we have no info to go off of for half these insane theories.
Trump is not an active President so he probably didn’t have access to extra protection.
@@mrplayfulshade1038 It`s not important what they thought. They should have spared no effort to ensure the safety of the protectee. Such negligence on the part of the Secret Service could have potentially led to the death of the former president. There`s no justification for such carelessness.

How do you get a giant ladder through security when all attending were deeply searched?...unless this was staged,...but who would do that?

So a 20 year old had the same access as John Wilkes Booth did over a century and a half ago. What a shame security detail, Trump was lucky.
CBS repeatedly has the building wrong in their photos. Bit embarrassing. It clearly was the one closest to the stage, on the far downward slope of the roof, so the slant gave him some protection from being seen. He climbed across the roofs from maybe way back - was seen going from roof to roof, there are connections between the buildings.
It’s so reassuring that the FBI is investigating this whole incident. 🤥

So the spectators saw the man with a rifle on the roof and they had to tell the security that the man shooting was on the roof. I always thought the secret service had hair trigger response abilities. In this case the they did not. They were told by the spectators what was going on! Just insane!
