  • Organisations that have supported groups to do a GeoStories project have told us how much it has helped the participants gain digital skills while learning about their heritage and meeting new people of all ages. Participants tell us how much fun they had and how they enjoyed developing new skills. A warm and wonderful film to cheer a cold day here in Alaska.

Brings back memories of my childhood and youth spent in Weardale, it was a decent cycle ride from where we lived in Durham.

Enjoyed the journey back in time, living in Western Canada now but played on those quarry heaps as a kid & remember playing football with a coconut at the fair. Doug Bainbridge.

Brought back many happy memories of my time in Stanhope in the late 60s living at Railway cottages but originally from Durham..Remember the Cement works & Harperly ,as kids we used to play in the ford & down the dene..We eventually moved away but as a child they were the best times, lovely place & people ,still have me I spy book from the post office back in the day & a polished piece of spar sitting proudly on the sideboard on Bodmin Moor..Great film, thanks for the memories.

    Excellent vid.
My dad left school on a Friday age 14 and was darn pit on Monday morning, a face worker undercutting the coal seam.

As a Weardaler living abroad, this brought me so much joy. I can't wait until global travel is doable again so I can visit home

I loved watching this, I'm Weardale born and bred and still live here, whenever I've been away it's always good to see those hills in the distance when I come back, that's when I know I'm home.

Fabulous film. Well done. As a former, “long lost” resident of Ireshopeburn the section on Blackdene & the Proud family was special. Thanks.
