Classic example is players by dilla, originally says "claire". Great vid, genius stuff that even well-versed producers can learn from, and the layperson would never even notice.
Do you think on some of your videos you can show the sample breakdowns and then the instrumental without the lyrics then it will show exactly how creative the producer was because the lyrics sometimes cover up some of the samples thanks
I'm slowly trying to incorporate my attempts at remaking the beats into the breakdowns. It is great practice for me and it may also help me with copyright!
The extra -5 semitone pitched down part of the sample is incorrect. The semitone dialed down sound is actually from the very end of the song Clair. Still dope though
I got it from a few other tutorials on UA-cam, and reddit. There is a chance I am right but didn't stretched it enough. I will 1000% revisit the beat for the longer Dilla breakdown! Appreciate the tips !
@@Narokx I remaked the chops again and i think I got it wrong too. I blieve its actually the last doot before the yellow chop in the breakdown thats pitched down to -9 semitones and is played with the doot that comes right after it. I think thats how it is.
One of the most iconic beats in Dilla's catalouge
would've never guessed that he sampled that part of the break for his drums... wow. truly amazing! this makes me wanna dig even more lol.
That blew my mind when I first discovered that
@@jessec103 he didn't
wow i didnt even know the sugarhill gang sample was used in this classic-Dilla was a pure genius-makes me miss him more and more-R.I.P. J-DILLA
These drums play in my head everyday

That's some creative sampling with Rapper's Delight
What an absolute mad man JD was.

To me, I can’t hear it as players
He WAS a GENIUS indeed!
The greatest that will ever do it.
It's incredible to see the genius of J Dilla. Thanks for all, Dilla. 🙏

Class 👏
Thought the background vocals was saying “player” but it was actually saying “Clair” 😂

Still dope though
I wish I had done more research :(
Thanks for the info!
It really do sound like they are saying players
im p sure u got the last snip of the clair sample wrong. The two doots that are pitched down -9 semitones are suppoused to be played in reverse order.

It is off but honestly I’ve seen a few reviews to this in my day and I still don’t know if anybody got that last part correct
@@mikelewicki1557 im pretty sure i got it right i would make a video to show it but idk how
last chop of the claire sample is wrong
