I think they both are so used to being in loveless relationships (Eddie is clearly aromantic 🚫🌹), they don't realise if they ever found another person they *genuinely* loved, it would compete with their bonding time. They idea of marrying 💒/dating someone because you want to spend your lives together and love each other's presence and does not click in their minds. They are used to thinking of it as something you do out of peer pressure.
Eddie just doesn't want to be fire captain 🚒, because it will mean spending time away from Buck. Also, Buck always complains about Eddie being late when it could not matter less.
