Idk, maybe because Sundown is the loudest brand out there and reliable as hell? HCCAs are known to have shit reliability and blow on less than rated power all the time. Plenty of people around here have thoroughly tested the amps and subs and blow them on less than rated power but can't replicate with Sundown so it's not the person.
I can't be the only 1 thinking there's something weird here, maybe advertising idk. 12 to 15, weight goes up almost 20lbs. 15 to 18 over 50?!? Just for a basket? The motor should stay the same in a certain lineup.
Probably because sundown will actually do it's rated rms rating and some. Sundown can take heavy amounts of abuse too. You can throw double rms rating at most of their subs. Meanwhile other subs can't even do their rms rating.
Orions tech support and customer service are pretty much non existent these days. Back in 2001 and under they had great support but got bought over by those that apparently don't give a crap
I'm sure it's not hard to buy Orion products online because I marked a few sites I was going to go with however not being able to find enclosure specs or anybody that had a clue down at Orion whenever I would email tech-support or call. Emailed three different times and not one Single response

Gotdang! Things are getting outa hand!! When is it going to stop! Subs that cost more than my car! Subs are soo much more powerful than they were back in the day! Used to, if you had 1000watts you had a lil something, now 2kw is nothing!! Heck having 4kw on 1sub is nothing new! I love bass, but man its getting crazy!! Just wonder what they will be up to in 20years!! Systw with, 100kw neuclear reactors, 20kw double, dual coil subs, and series wound motors, carbon nanotube cones, that's as far as I could imagine, crazy as I could come up with!! Most subs like these aren't that musical. My Sundown included. They're inefficient. Takes gobs of power to get any authority behind them. That's why people like myself listen to a lot of rebassed music. These are more for SPL applications. You want musical look into something with a softer spider pack and lighter cones. 8 layer flat wound coils are heavy and produce better lows but don't help in the SQ department. Doesn't mean that they can't be musical because a lot of it has to do with the box but takes more effort to get a wide flat response with drivers like these.
Yeah that's kind of wat I thought. I'm running one Rockford t2 12" and a JL slash 1200v3. I've tried many but want one sub that can handle 1500rms daily and sound musical. The Rockford seems good so far. I got 2 12" w7s that il be trying but want to keep trunk space.
@@migascustomsounds3054 that's a good setup for music. And that fosgate can take some power. At least you have a good one. Lower fosgate aren't that great. Good for low power though.
These are really just nitch subs,i honstley dont know how these giant sub makers dont lose their asses on these speakers it takes at least $1500+ to get your electrical up to par to even think about running subs like this +amps/box you just dont come across people that often running in the 155+db,ya its nice but ill take 2- 13.5 jlw7s over these any day and run it off stock electrical and a few extra batteries/big 5, idk guess thats just me, i wonder what the w7v2 is going to bring to the table?
Nobody talks about these monsters on UA-cam, it's always Sundown 🤦🏿♂️

Would that cone depth be equivalent to more cone area therefor play louder? (cone surface is king for volume)?
