The longevity of Edin Džeko needs to be studied. The man led Wolfsburg to their first Bundesliga title, was a key member of the City squad when they captured their first title and is now leading Inter to a potential CL final. He deserves everything.

@@russell6075 good point. Some players decline rapidly because of the attributes that make them good players decline with age. But Dzeko doesn't rely on pace and agility. Although he demonstrates to have them from time to time.

yes you are right, he was at his absolute prime when he played for Wolfsburg with Grafite and Misimovic and also for Bosnia he gave it his all, and stats do not lie.. he did have one great season for Roma being top goalscorer of the Seria A that was also him at his peak.

I would compare Giroud and Dzeko. Both won the league for a smaller clubs (Monteplier and Wolfsburg respectively) and they still compete for the top clubs at this age
A beast at Wolfsburg but at Roma he was a different breed. He single handedly destroyed barca. Roma we’re great on the night but dzeko was absolutely world class it was a pleasure having him at Roma

There is something special in player's like Dzeko, the ones that haven't had the most successful and widely noted careers compared to the obvious big names of football, but still very respectable and long careers at professional level.
Bro he has carried wolfsburg to their first bundesliga title, won a title with city in the prem (mainly due to him). First player to score over 50 goals in the big three leagues, not even counting country, where he has scored 64 goals in like 120 games. I mean what more do people want from this man lmao.

Dzeko has to be in the conversation as one of the greatest strikers of his generation, alongside Benzema, Suarez, and Lewa (edit: forgot Aguero).
His longevity is better than any of them; he's made over 900 appearances for club and country and has 400 goals and 150 assists.
Of his 20 seasons as a professional, he's had 16 seasons with 10+ goals and five seasons with 20+ goals. Not to mention winning trophies in the 3 different countries.
He played a key role in bringing Bosnia to their first World Cup in Brasil. It's unfortunate that they haven't had much consistency (and a deeper bench), but he's been a rock for his national team for a long time. The man has earned and proven his world class status many times over imho.
Now that I think about it, it's tragic that we never got to see a Yugoslav national team through the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s. There were so many killers coming out of the Balkans, but always fragmented among the independent states.
