- US President Donald Trump with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan at a bilateral meeting as they discuss ending the war in Afghanistan through means of a political settlement.
The United States and Pakistan are jointly seeking a way to end the war in Afghanistan, Trump said alongside Khan in the Oval Office on Monday, July 22.
“We’re working with Pakistan and others on getting an agreement signed” with the Taliban while the United States continues to “very slowly and very safely” reduce the number of its troops in Afghanistan, said Trump during his initial meeting with Khan at the White House.
The Pakistani prime minister declared “this is the closest we’ve been to a peace deal in Afghanistan. There’s no military solution in Afghanistan.”
In the coming days, Khan added, there are hopes of getting “the Taliban to speak to the Afghan government.”
Khan complimented Trump for his efforts, saying “he has forced people to end the war, to have a settlement” adding Pakistan has an important role to play as it shares a 2,400-kilometer border with Afghanistan.

Oh this is the democracy these two were harsh on each nearly an year ago. BUT I see that Mr Khan is more solid than our Trump. I feel that Khan is very intelligent guy right when he said there was no military solution 15years ago.
He was labeled "Taliban Khan" "Terrorist without beard" and many other disgraceful labours by our liberal media. Hid only fault was that he spent some time in tribal areas and knew that they don't like foreign troops on their grounds... And he was right as a result of military operation the whole of tribal belt (millions of people) turned against Pakistan and America and ended up becoming sanctuary for Taliban and Al Qaeda.
By revising his opinion, Trump proves he's more solid. You talk sense to the man, he appreciates it. He's willing to check things out for himself.

I’m not what’s so ever a fan of trump nor do I agree with everything he says but this right here would be a smart move to make peace with Pakistan they want peace with us and we give them that nobody needs to die I think what they have going on could be a step process to hopefully have more of a positive outcomes for both the people and the country’s.

They're going to want a full withdrawal of US forces, which is essentially an admission of defeat. Defeat at the hands of radical Islamist terrorists. Secondly, by keeping "all options on the table" regarding Iran, it would be negligent to withdraw from Afghanistan with tensions so high. Kahn is in Washington to get their foreign aide back. I'm not a complete Trump fan, but I think Trump did a good job here in having discussion with Pakistan's PM about peace and resolution to the war in Afghanistan. Trump's totally right. We've been there for far too long and it's time for us to get the hell out of that country. Political resolution is the only way to go. Honestly, I'm starting to agree more with Trump's views, actions, and policies than I do with leftist fanatics. Sure he sounds like a complete maniac when he tweets, but his actions speak louder than his words, and I find his actions quite respectable. Also, people lose their minds anyway when they're on Twitter (that's the whole point of Twitter btw). He's definitely gonna win 2020. None of these extreme leftist freaks who are running for president as Democrats stand a chance against Trump, with possible exception of Joe Biden, but I'm not too sure about his chances of winning cause he too seems like he wants to appeal to extreme left.
The reason why I'm not a complete trump fan is because I'm kind of disappointed in him not doing anything about the whole kids in cages crisis, but if you ask me, those kids have no one to blame but their parents. Their parents should have known better than to cross a border illegally. Technically speaking, they're not US citizens, and they don't have any rights on our land. We don't even owe them basic human rights, cause we never signed the UN charter or whatever. The families should just be reunited and be sent back across the border, instead of wasting all our tax money running those hellish facilities.
