I'm really curious about this particular tradition of square dancing. How long has there been a tradition of square dance competitions in this community? Is the dancing to live music? There seems to be a guitarist playing in the corner of the shot, but I cannot tell if there is a full band with fiddler, too.
This is Métis Square Dancing! There have been competitions for many years and this is the bigger one within our province. Jigging has been around since the early 1900’s😊
Nice and interesting, but I wouldn't really call it square dancing. There are some square dance moves in there, but there is no caller instructing them.

at least they changed partners sometimes
