HEADS UP! Discotek (THE licensee of big robot anime) licensed the 1990s Giant Robo anime OVA series for Blu ray release in the US. It's been available on Blu ray in Japan for close to a decade but this is the first American HD release. The last time it was released was on DVD by Media Blasters which was the first FULL release of the OVA by any company. I think Manga Video had the distribution rights to the series in the 1990s but only got about 4 volumes of 7 out. THey had a funding situation in Japan and it took around 7(?) years to finish the whole series. The sales were kind of weak on the video volumes towards the end. I'm sure they'll include both English audio tracks (there were 2 dubs; Manga and MB's) and the Ginrei specials, too.
First I have to say this review was fantastic! Flawless camera work as always and now the sound levels are perfect! The robo v Godzilla pictures were excellent! I have been waiting years for this figure as its my favorite giant robot......now the src has made me hungry for an SoC release...fingers crossed! Diego are you as excited as I am about the new monsterarts line?
I prefer the Yamato version. It's much bigger and almost completely Die-cast. Also, it always irks me when folks mispronounce names...It's Shi-Zuma not SHIN-Zuma. Good review! Love your camera work!
Another great detailed review! I preordered this item but I hesitated in picking this one up. The lack of gimmicks like the opening chest piece, retractable shoulder missles, and small amount of diecast parts really turns me off. But I think Bandai will release another tamashii exclusive addon and effect parts bundle with Giant Robo and Big O.

I'm a bit disappointed he has too little die cast. For the price I was expecting more metal, I think I'm gonna skip this one for a while and just get it when the price gets discounted. It looks good but I feel I"m being ripped off by Bandai since the newer releases of src gets less and less metal while increasing in price.
I have the Yamato missile version from 2000 I believe, it's bigger than the SRC version and has a lot of diecast, if you can find that version pick it up! there's also a cannon version which I am still interested in getting, if I can find it, I agree the diecast in this version is disappointing, I'm sure the joints are diecast as well.
Impossible Pie I remember the Yamato version and it was really cheap back then but now it's hard to find. The only downside is that it wasn't as poseable but I can actually live with it considering how heavy it is. I still like this src version but I'm not buying it at the current price. I'm gonna go for the src jeeg when it releases and will try to find the yamato version if i can find it here.
This is an awesome review. I got mine last week and got it at a good price of just $55. I took photos of it a couple of days ago and just posted them to the robotjapan forum. Although I have to admit I cringed every time you said "Shinzuma" Because it's Shizuma. ^_^;;
I have this thing, and i love it, everything about it is great, except for one seriously glaring flaw, the "innovative" new waist joints system is floppy as f*** and makes getting him into a pose very fickle, and there's no reason for crazy possability with this figure cuz his hips never bend in crazy ways in the anime, he's a big lumbering robot first off, secondly his skirt is in the way. Everything else about this figure is perfect but the glaringly loose hip joints are terrible. Also yes he has diecast in his frame, the plastic you see is almost a shell for his internal frame, I love it. Max factory should totally make one of this guy in the same spirits as what they did with Big O. That would be a dream come true for me. Then I could have a scale giant robo to go with my soul of chogokin gx24 tetsujin28. Happy travels people.
After 4 years of trying to find this figure I have finally found him! For $38 and new! Can't wait to pose mine!

I also think they should have included a small pvc daisaku kazama figure that can stand right near its head holding the handle bars
