Eddie has a world class jiu jits, but he is so logorroic..just watch him when he is trying to explain his rubber guard to Rickson Gracie..even Rickson was not able to talk anymore..ahahahaha!
Fantastic episode! I could watch Shawn Williams and Eddie Bravo exchange techniques for hours. It would be awesome if you could get John Danaher and Mr. Williams on the same show, in the near future. Thanks for doing a great show.
This man is amazing! And I'm glad to get some clarification on the "twister". I remember some people talking shit when I first started rolling. Bravo's explanation makes a ton of sense... He got railroaded by circumstance.
yah eddie bravo is a chiller. Its chill to not like his style cuz everyone has their own but he was disrespected for so long which is messed up. we are all human beings.
eddie hardly let anyone else get a word in for 40+ minutes haha. gotta love his enthusiasm though. great vid. wish there was footage of shawn and eddie rolling!
Best episode yet. I never thought I liked Eddie but he keeps on growing on me. Between the Joe Rogan podcast and this episode I can say I'm somewhat of a fan.
It depends on your game plan and style. It varies from person to person. I train with Shawn and he provides a broad range of moves and we pick our game plans and style. I go for low single off a lot of transitions and have hit many times in rolling and hit singles in two tournaments. It all depends on what your game is.
1) That was one "lesson" 2) He basically just named and ran through moves and fights that they worked in - I'd hardly call that a lesson... More like information vomiting 3) Yeah, I was really looking forward to more of Eddie/Shawn interaction on the topic/comparison of their respective guard styles.
2018. I love how disappointed Eddie is that he didn't recognize any of these transitions from "London" (Williams Guard) himself. Eddie is a true savant when it comes to BJJ and he beats himself up internally when an answer escapes him for the transitional defense and offense.
The first time I watched this I saw it that way, but after re watching it … it makes sense to me. Eddie probably doesn't want to get forced into a low single. But some guys are strong in that position and will end up on top every time. Everyone has there individual style/ preferences.
Eddie does a really good job acting like Sean provided a satisfactory answer to the problem with Williams Guard. Listening to Eddie talk you realize he is a genius in jiu jitsu and a real martial arts fanatic. Not really sure why he gets a bad rap
I have the same thing - It's just the breathing, I have kind of the same "body type" and I smoke a lot of weed, too. It doesn't really matter as long as you are fast, deliberate, and a step ahead of the other guy.
i'm just a white belt so i don't know what the fuck i'm talking about but it seems like williams guard weakness is when the guy squares up to you it's all lost. eddie actualy added an empressive detail to williams guard which is the zombie part where you force your oppponent to put his hand on the mat. when it comes to the rubber guard i think it's weekness is that you need a very high level of flexablity to do it, for me when i started bjj i started suffering from knee pains becuase i was trying to force my knees to go i directions they didn't wanna go, i'm only 140 pound so if i have my knees in a comprimising possition with someone 180 pounds on top of me i think i would injure my knee. i might be wrong about the flexablity thing but i feel like it's unhealthy for your joints to play rubber guard.
Once eddie starts talking he can't stop, his podcast is the same. I love the guy but sometimes he needs to let other people get a word in a conversation
Not lying, he said very few people could do the lotus position which he says you will be able to do all the positions in the rubber guard if you can do it.
@Lazar MMA Just move your hip an inch and no need for extreme flexibility. In addition, I wouldn't recommend putting yourself in those positions anyway if you want your body to have any kind of longevity. I'll believe in the rubber guard's value when you post a video of your 90-year-old grandmother successfully using it.
@Lazar MMA basically and why do it Bravo's way when there's more efficient ways to achieve the same thing while being more practical for a greater percentage of the population who could benefit from this stuff?
Eddie owns his Philosophy. These other guys are over thier head in the context of the Conversation... They get butt hurt cause they want thier turn to talk but aren't really adding anything to the conversation.
@4:07 Eddie Bravo all smug indirectly telling Williams his answer is stupid in addition to him thinking Williams Guard is worthless because, "I just cartwheel that sh*t." Hey Eddie, if you and your students smoked less weed, you'd be able to figure out there is an even simpler answer to the cartwheel pass while still maintaining "Leg hook/Hook guard," "Williams guard," "London," or whatever you want to call it. I would've loved to see the dumbfounded look on Eddie's face after showing him what to do.
i think williams was using that guard before eddie was even doing jiu jitsu hes an old school renzo gracie guy hes a very good teacher and a good jiu jitsu practitioner i like dean lister to but shawn williams definitely didn't rip off
i agree that 10th planet is more difficult to learn because of the average persons flexability..but anyone who stretches everyday can become more flexible. i disagree that eddie's jiu-jitsu is poor, because he's flexible enough to use it, and it works in competition and on the street if u are good at it..i personally prefer a more traditional guard but a good rubber guard player is very dangerous and capable and should be respected if you are a jiu-jitsu guy
Does Eddie ever stop talking? It was a bit overbearing and rude. I get it you're trying to spread the 10th planet gospel but he should probably chill dog a little bit.
The Bruce Lee challenge fights are most definitely not "documented". This shows why Eddie has bought into the flat earth and all those other conspiracies. His idea of evidence is very low.
Budo video just got turned into "Mastering the System" lol
We need a rolled up with bravo
Eddie has a world class jiu jits, but he is so logorroic..just watch him when he is trying to explain his rubber guard to Rickson Gracie..even Rickson was not able to talk anymore..ahahahaha!
Eddie is a fucking chatterbox!
Fantastic episode! I could watch Shawn Williams and Eddie Bravo exchange techniques for hours. It would be awesome if you could get John Danaher and Mr. Williams on the same show, in the near future. Thanks for doing a great show.
Man what a great little video, so glad i came across it
This man is amazing!
Great video. I would watch this stuff for hours!
This video is gold, thanks a lot guys!
eddie hardly let anyone else get a word in for 40+ minutes haha. gotta love his enthusiasm though. great vid. wish there was footage of shawn and eddie rolling!
Best episode yet. I never thought I liked Eddie but he keeps on growing on me. Between the Joe Rogan podcast and this episode I can say I'm somewhat of a fan.
I'm taking this in like a sponge. These guys are brilliant at brainstorming jiujitsu. Great video once again!
O a rolled up episode with eddie bravo
I love Eddie, jits, philosophy and spirituality, awesome
Quite possibly the best budo video to date. Quickest 40min of my life. I feel like I just got a free couple hundred dollar private with Eddie. lol
It depends on your game plan and style. It varies from person to person. I train with Shawn and he provides a broad range of moves and we pick our game plans and style. I really like the this week in BJJ on the mat because you guys can transition from talking to showing.. very cool
Eddies off his head hahaha
Eddie and William are the only people who CREDITS their stuff.
Good shit guys.
Eddie is hilarious. He's like a kid in a candy store. I wish I had a job that allowed me to say stay so young at heart.
eddie is a charismatic dude
Eddie Bravo is really passionate about BJJ. I respect his system, but I prefer the Williams Guard.
right about 7:00 Shawn Blew Eddie Bravos Mind lol he never thought about how that simple sweet brings you right to side mount with an arm Trapped..
7:07 does this sweep work if you don't go to the umoplata ?
Bravo bravo Eddie!
I really love to see how passion is Eddie about BJJ, he really enjoy sharing BJJ knoledge
Top quality video.
1) That was one "lesson"
2) He basically just named and ran through moves and fights that they worked in - I'd hardly call that a lesson... More like information vomiting
3) Yeah, I was really looking forward to more of Eddie/Shawn interaction on the topic/comparison of their respective guard styles.

dean lister has trained with eddie in the past hes even in the first 10th planet dvd he learnt alot of the 1oth planet system
this is fucking awesome you guys
Eddie does a really good job acting like Sean provided a satisfactory answer to the problem with Williams Guard.
Listening to Eddie talk you realize he is a genius in jiu jitsu and a real martial arts fanatic. Not really sure why he gets a bad rap
hahaha...but u know what, i would like to hear all of it :)
I preview of EXACTLY what he did you Royler. Move for move!
The rubber guard neutralizes the necessity to shrimp
I thought the first part was supposed to be the interview part...
Dean Lister has been using this Guard for years he should get some credit . Also Dean is arguably the best american grappler ever .
Wrong, Gordon Ryan is
I dont think its the weed, its those two beers earlier. The Indian is out.
only the real one's get this!!
Subtitulos en español porfa!!!
Wow!!!!!!! Nice!
I wanna hear Eddie keep talking!!!!!
Think Eddie thought this was another of his classes and Shawn was just another of his disciples. I couldn’t take it anymore at 20:00
I have the same thing - It's just the breathing, I have kind of the same "body type" and I smoke a lot of weed, too. It doesn't really matter as long as you are fast, deliberate, and a step ahead of the other guy.
I was referring to the so called "Williams Guard" from Shawn Williams .
10th planet forever !!!
Until now eddies till talkin..
24:50 I actually have used the full nelson in my BJJ. I had back and decided to experiment, worked pretty good.
I like listening to Eddie talk, but at the same time im embarrassed for him for not giving anybody else a chance lol
Yeah: it always surprises me how quickly Eddie Bravo gasses...crazy.
i'm just a white belt so i don't know what the fuck i'm talking about but it seems like williams guard weakness is when the guy squares up to you it's all lost.
eddie actualy added an empressive detail to williams guard which is the zombie part where you force your oppponent to put his hand on the mat.

i might be wrong about the flexablity thing but i feel like it's unhealthy for your joints to play rubber guard.
Dropping some knowledge SON!!!!!!! 10th Planet all day!!!!!!
Nino guard?
23:30 Eddie Bravo referencing to conspiracy theories again.
its crazy to have this little self awareness. Does eddie think they got him in to do a seminar?
Once eddie starts talking he can't stop, his podcast is the same. I love the guy but sometimes he needs to let other people get a word in a conversation
masters
Eddie telling him he can hold rubber guard is eddie not realizing what Shawn is saying. Lpl
Why would you trade closed guard to a low single?
9:55 Eddie Bravo admitting the rubber guard is worthless except for very few people.
Not lying, he said very few people could do the lotus position which he says you will be able to do all the positions in the rubber guard if you can do it.
@Lazar MMA You don't? Then what's the point of it being called the "rubber guard"? Then it's just doing it the normal way.
@Lazar MMA blue belt?
My god.
Eddie owns his Philosophy.
These other guys are over thier head in the context of the Conversation...
They get butt hurt cause they want thier turn to talk but aren't really adding anything to the conversation.
i love how stone is Eddie haha
If an engine makes noise it isn't out of gas yet...
@4:07 Eddie Bravo all smug indirectly telling Williams his answer is stupid in addition to him thinking Williams Guard is worthless because, "I just cartwheel that sh*t."
Hey Eddie, if you and your students smoked less weed, you'd be able to figure out there is an even simpler answer to the cartwheel pass while still maintaining "Leg hook/Hook guard," "Williams guard," "London," or whatever you want to call it.

Eddie trying to convince ppl it takes way longer than it should to get good at stuff.
1 takedown in two years...LOL
i agree that 10th planet is more difficult to learn because of the average persons flexability..but anyone who stretches everyday can become more flexible. i disagree that eddie's jiu-jitsu is poor, because he's flexible enough to use it, and it works in competition and on the street if u are good at it..i personally prefer a more traditional guard but a good rubber guard player is very dangerous and capable and should be respected if you are a jiu-jitsu guy
ITS sooooo horrible that Eddy dont stop talking!!! I was really intersting in the Williams Guard Options :(
try talking and bjj at the same time and see how that works out for you :)
my igh guard just good alot better lol
the low single isnt a good position at all
you dont need to be fit to master jiu jitsu, did you know helio gracie could never do a single chin up
Does Eddie ever stop talking? It was a bit overbearing and rude. I get it you're trying to spread the 10th planet gospel but he should probably chill dog a little bit.
no
Sean was already on the show before so it was more like he was there too see eddie
4:20 Eddie Bravo being smug
Hey Eddie renaming positions and copying everything Nino has invented does t make u a master
When is he not stoned?
The Bruce Lee challenge fights are most definitely not "documented". This shows why Eddie has bought into the flat earth and all those other conspiracies. His idea of evidence is very low.
Should have kept Eddie talking. I could have used some more free lessons...
That looks like mania. Eddie may be bipolar. maybe why he smokes weed to calm down
eddie likes to hog the guitar
Shawn seems very condescending when Eddie asks questions or brings stuff up.
Not a fan of stoned bjj
