How To: CROCHET BRAIDS w/ MARLEY HAIR ! (ORIGINAL no-rod technique!)

  • Tutorial on my crochet braids using Marley Hair + my no-rod curling technique! Great protective style.
    --- THE HAIR I USED - bit.ly/22PhFuD
--- MY SLEEK PONY MOHAWK HAIRSTYLE - bit.ly/1zZzYNw
    * I used almost 3 packs of Marley Hair and it took roughly 2.5 hrs to install and 1 hr to curl. I maintain by putting the hair into a loose high puff nightly and fluffing out in the morning.
    * To remove this style I cut the extension hair down low, undid the cornrows and Marley hair slid out. Take down was less than an hour.

giiirrrrrrrll, i followed your instructions and did my hair just like that last week friday, touched the streets on monday ( i did black with burgundy highlights) and everybody was just all about my hair (men and women alike) like EVERYBODY. Glad I gave some inspirations because of you.

yep they did, i used a different brand though (didn't have a choice, it was all they had in the hair store as soft hair which you must feel to make sure it's soft) but the results were great. Love my curls it gives your face a really nice look it's my holiday hair. As long as you get the right hair ( if doing it for the first time you can use the exact same hair she did) and you do as she says, you are good to go. One thing though since the hair is thick per stand - after cutting it in half you may want to divide the hair into two or three and use the hair. notice in the video the strands she uses at the front are thin divides.

Just a quick tip ladies... If you want soft curls like hers then please get SOFT marley hair, not the regular marley hair that you do kinky twists with. Feel the hair to make sure it is soft before you buy it.

Just did my hair the other day. Didn't take that long. The only problem I'm having is the top. I don't like that you can see the knots at the top where my part is. I was hoping it would be more invisible. I even redid the hair where my part would be and made the pieces small but can still notice the knots. Any suggestions or help?

Repost this because it is still relevant today! Your original video beats this stuff today hands down. I tried it several times and no matter what hair I used I really was successful. Well I did find a fake marley hair early on and it would not work in hot water but......I was still able to work it out. I looked like a beautiful lioness (with a mane though). Keep it the great work love!

It really is the type of hair that you use. I find that Bob Marley Hair by Freetress is a great hair it always looks good, and mine came out looking just like hers. I see that she used Bob Marley Hair by Vanessa. See if you can find that hair. Also, you have to use a good amount of cheap 'glycerin' hair moisturizer. Brush it through the hair as you separate to prepare for dipping. Also, the water has got to be boiling hot to curl that Bob Marley Hair, but be careful of your scalp getting the heat from it. I leave my rod in the hot water for about 20 seconds. Dollar Tree has a great cheap moisturizer that I use and I get soooo many compliments. I use rods on mine though, and they do last three to four weeks easy!!!! I hope this helps...don't give up!

You go, sistahgirl! I do my natural hair this way, but didn't realize it could be done with kanekalon hair, too. You're a beautiful young lady, and I really appreciated your sharing hair beauty secrets with such humility. It's rare, believe me! Some videos are full of pompous, snooty chatter, which equates to "look how beautiful I am and I love the sound of my own voice", but not you. It's rather refreshing. I have silver/gray/black hair and it's difficult finding synthetic weave hair in my color, but I was able to finally get my hands on some kanekalon in my shade, and had planned on curling the strands on a baton and dipping in hot water, which would have taken for-ev-errrrr; but thanks to your video, I'm now renewed with excitement that I can replicate my natural hairdo with a protective style, in my shade, and it won't take me days to do it. God bless you, and stay humble, beautiful and creative! It's very much appreciated!

When I had my crochet Marley hair in, the knots loosen over time by themselves. When I took my crochet twist out I loosen the knot more, I would hold the loc of Marley hair taught making sure there was enough space between my cornroll and knot to cut directly under the knot without cutting my braid. This process took about 1 hour. I was being very careful not to cut my hair.

I been doing this style for a very long time using the Marley hair to crochet my braids. People would ask me how long have been wearing y hair natural. In this profile pic I have the Marley Crochet Braids but I like to wear them short and I DO NOT tie them that many times because when you have them up for a while and you get new growth, you got to be REALLY careful because you can damage or pull your hair out, so I dont use the loop technique at all, I pull the end of the hair through the braids and tie the ends together like you tie a shoe string without the bow. This style it will look like the hair is growing from your scab instead of tied, plus it much much easier to take down. As you can see in my profile picture I have the Marley Crochet Braids wore in a short style.
