- Tutorial on my crochet braids using Marley Hair + my no-rod curling technique! Great protective style.

* I used almost 3 packs of Marley Hair and it took roughly 2.5 hrs to install and 1 hr to curl. I maintain by putting the hair into a loose high puff nightly and fluffing out in the morning.
* To remove this style I cut the extension hair down low, undid the cornrows and Marley hair slid out. Take down was less than an hour.

Just another video that makes me extremely proud to be black! I love our culture and how versatile and amazing we are! JS.
giiirrrrrrrll, i followed your instructions and did my hair just like that last week friday, touched the streets on monday ( i did black with burgundy highlights) and everybody was just all about my hair (men and women alike) like EVERYBODY. Glad I gave some inspirations because of you.
Glad to her that Joneil!
Did your curls turn out like in the video?
yep they did, i used a different brand though (didn't have a choice, it was all they had in the hair store as soft hair which you must feel to make sure it's soft) but the results were great. Love my curls it gives your face a really nice look it's my holiday hair. As long as you get the right hair ( if doing it for the first time you can use the exact same hair she did) and you do as she says, you are good to go. One thing though since the hair is thick per stand - after cutting it in half you may want to divide the hair into two or three and use the hair. notice in the video the strands she uses at the front are thin divides.
Awww thank you soooo much. I think I use harder hair because its really not holding my curls but I will retry this . thank you once again ☺
🙏🏻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😅😘
I got so much love ❤️ for you and Chic Natural! Not only have you grown my own hair with your wash routines, but I also get the most compliments on my crotchet braids! I have done almost every style you post!! Your straight 💯 and I want u to know, your the reason why I love myself!!! When I was depressed, your videos encouraged me to live my best life! I’m happy and independent of my stylist!!! Saving money and loving my hair 🙏🙏for you!!
I cannot believe I'm 9 WHOLE YEARS late on this video! I could've been rocking this beautiful style all along, thanks SO MUCH for this video!!
Am I the only one who watches TheChicNatural's tutorials with no intention of recreating them but just because she is so talented and beautiful and amazing?!!!! I really cannot deal with her at ll, I am always in awe!!! lol
Haha! Thank you Ashley!
Awesome!!!! This was super creative and beautiful!
The absolute best crochet braid tutorial on YT! You never cease to impress girl!
I shouldn't be this turnt up about a hair style but I am!! I tried the Marley crochet with my washed old hair from my Havanna Twist but I think this one is going to take all of the cake!! This is about to be my fall/winter hair style!! I love it!!!! Now if I could just learn how to cornroll my own hair....😩
Let me know how it turns out if you try it!
TheChicNatural I put mine in a pony and used a scarf to cover the edges. You can either do that or braid the edges.
it makes it look so natural! love this
I've watched this video like 4 times today. This is the best I have ever seen crochet braids look. I really liked the blown out look before styling too.
*"This is my favorite video from you!!!"*
I am going to try this for my daughter next weekend wish me the best of luck :) many thanks for posting this video much appreciated
I love this hairstyle & you explain very well, thanks for all your videos
Kisses from Paris
OMG Kim this was sooo helpful!! I bought a latch hook but I've been too afraid to take the next step and put done hair in.
Just a quick tip ladies... If you want soft curls like hers then please get SOFT marley hair, not the regular marley hair that you do kinky twists with. Feel the hair to make sure it is soft before you buy it.
Thanks XOXO
will it indicate on the packet soft?
Be Noelus Sometimes they will. But I always open the pack to make sure it's soft. If you're buying online, try the Janet Noir brand. It's soft.
Thanks for the advice! Ladies, any recommendations on a good beauty supply brand? i.e. soft Marley hair
The Janet Noir Collection is good. But any brand will do as long as it's soft.
I am attempting this style ...I love it and the guidance was excellent. Please make more videos.
okay...this was the second video of yours that I have watched in the past three minutes and you've already pulled my ass in...SUBSCRIBED!!!
Thanks girly, glad you like em!!
This is gonna get me through the Fall semester. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.
The curl technique is very creative.
this is the most protective weaving I have seen in the longest while :)
- That three weeks looked like first day hair like WHAT?!
u can have leave out in the front right?? cause i personally dont like to see the actual base of the braids.
gurl, that blazer though, so perfect!
THE BEST CROCHET TUTORIAL ON UA-cam.
By far the best tutorial I've seen on the crochet braids. I loved it as an afro on you as well
Girl I bet you could style a Potatoe sack and look fly!
Lmao!!! Ain't that the damn truth- this girl is truly amazing ! This styling gives me Life and a few extra Coins get to stay put in my wallet! Thank goodness
Loved it! I've been experimenting with Marley, and with crochet, and now I'm ready to put the two together, and this tutorial is exactly what I had pictured in my mind.
I am so late but so glad to know there is a rod free version of this style. I have been wanting to do it but didn't want the rods all over the place! Thanks!!! This is awesome!
Omg this is so cute. How do you maintain this style at night?
Thanks! Pull up into a high pony and then shake and fluff in the AM
Great question.
Wow👏👏👏 you really know what hair style a girl on a budget needs. This is the best tutorial ever👍👍👍👍
I've never seen a style like this and I love it!
One of the best crochet braids tutorial on YT...great job!!!
I love those curls! Best curling technique I've seen yet!
Wow this is gorgeous!!!
Gurl, you have really made me want to try this out. You done a beautiful job, it's really pretty. I hope mine looks like this. thank you so much for the tut.
Thank you for sharing. Brilliant technique - no need to buy rollers/rods. This is a beautiful. low maintenance, low-cost style. I have always enjoyed your tutorials. Keep up the good work !
One of the best crochet braids tutorial I've watched so far (and I've watched a lot). Very good job
omg!!! if you would have told me that your end result pic started from the before pic of after install with that big fuzzy hair--i would not believe it. GORGEOUS!! Your outfit color scheme and makeup plus hair final style was so fabulous i cannot speak..wow! i am truly inspired to try to do this now.thank you for taking your time in showing the install process, it really was helpful. to hell with all of those naysayers who thumbed you down..they were obviously not paying attention and watching what i was watching because there was nothing close to a thumbs down. Great Job..watched ur other vids, but this one made me become a subbie.
Thanks so much girl! So glad to hear you liked the video!
Just did my hair the other day. Didn't take that long. The only problem I'm having is the top. I don't like that you can see the knots at the top where my part is. I was hoping it would be more invisible. I even redid the hair where my part would be and made the pieces small but can still notice the knots. Any suggestions or help?
You are good. I need to find a hairdresser who has this much talent
You really need to repost this! Everytime I want to do my crotchets I ALWAYS GO BACK AND FIND YOU AND THIS! This newbies just don't know you are the shyt! Repost this because it is still relevant today! Your original video beats this stuff today hands down. I tried it several times and no matter what hair I used I really was successful. Well I did find a fake marley hair early on and it would not work in hot water but......I was still able to work it out. I looked like a beautiful lioness (with a mane though). Keep it the great work love!
Omg that is nice. How would you take those out ?
You can just cut the knots at the root, making sure not to cut your own hair! You may need an extra pair of hands to do the back! 😊
cut the hair and then unbraid your cornrows, they slip right out unless they were installed messily like i do lol. even so, you can use conditioner as you go
Just unbraid your hair at underneath and the hair slides out.. there are many take down videos
Cute hairstyle girl! Could you do a video on how to take them down?
You give the best tutorials!! You make it look very easy to do. Thank you! I'm going to try this!
I have viewed and favorited so many of your vids, but this is my favorite by far... simple instructions that even I can follow.
Nice work.
I remember having crochet braids when I was in elementary school. I definitely have to try this out! I love how you did a step by step tutorial. I hope it turns out as nice as yours did. Thanks for the video.
You are very welcome!
me too!
The best I've seen!
Theirs no way she sould have any thumbs down 😍😍😍💋thank you I just did my 3yr old child's hair and I love the out come ,thank you!!
GAAAAAG!!! girl you put jesus into that marley twist hair. I always knew marley hair to be rough, unmanagable, and only good for boxbraids/twist. Im game now for a new protective style!! great video!!
It really is the type of hair that you use. I find that Bob Marley Hair by Freetress is a great hair it always looks good, and mine came out looking just like hers. I see that she used Bob Marley Hair by Vanessa. See if you can find that hair. Also, you have to use a good amount of cheap 'glycerin' hair moisturizer. Brush it through the hair as you separate to prepare for dipping. Also, the water has got to be boiling hot to curl that Bob Marley Hair, but be careful of your scalp getting the heat from it. I leave my rod in the hot water for about 20 seconds. Dollar Tree has a great cheap moisturizer that I use and I get soooo many compliments. I use rods on mine though, and they do last three to four weeks easy!!!! I hope this helps...don't give up!
I must try this and you look fabulous
Look really cute! Tfs
Absolutely love all your hair styles!!
I lover the way that look at the end. Beautiful! I was thinking of getting my hair crochet braid. I'm convinced, I'll get it. Thanks for sharing.
it came out Lovely!! Perfect tut! Very easy to follow...tfs
thankz for this vid they look beautiful i have to try this!!!
You go, sistahgirl! I do my natural hair this way, but didn't realize it could be done with kanekalon hair, too. You're a beautiful young lady, and I really appreciated your sharing hair beauty secrets with such humility. It's rare, believe me! Some videos are full of pompous, snooty chatter, which equates to "look how beautiful I am and I love the sound of my own voice", but not you. It's rather refreshing. I have silver/gray/black hair and it's difficult finding synthetic weave hair in my color, but I was able to finally get my hands on some kanekalon in my shade, and had planned on curling the strands on a baton and dipping in hot water, which would have taken for-ev-errrrr; but thanks to your video, I'm now renewed with excitement that I can replicate my natural hairdo with a protective style, in my shade, and it won't take me days to do it. God bless you, and stay humble, beautiful and creative! It's very much appreciated!
LOVE this video. I bought the exact same marley hair and had it installed yesterday and did not know how I should style it but I am in love with your curls and bantu knots so I will be trying it
Ive been dying to do this but didnt know how. Thank you for showing me :)
Glad to help! :)
You this looks so beautiful I have some packs at home toom if I get some time I will be sure to give it a shot. I just need that latch thing
Learned a lot just from reading the comments! Thanks TheChicNatural for being willing to respond to so many questions.
I love the way you explain the process, amount it cost and how it will come out. alot of people do the video so fast it's hard for people who are beginners.
you def have to show how you take this out!
This is ridiculously gorgeous. I CANNOT DEAL. lol
Thank you Angela!
This hairstyle is GORGEEEE !
I love this, i love both the frizzy look and this one you did an amazing job!
great easy teaching techniques
I love this style, my daughter and I were watching this video, and of course she wants me to try the crochets braid method/Marley hair. This will be my first time trying this. My daughter is 16 and willing to allow her mom to do her hair, What! Mommy and daughter time lol. We both enjoy watching your videos. She was very excited about the Mermaid hair color tutorial. That might be next, who knows she a teenager.
I am so glad to hear that Juanetta! Hope it comes out great for you guys!
Lol I'm 20 & I let my mom try all different types of things with my natural hair lol we tried a sew in a few weeks ago & it came out pretty well for her first time. I loved it!!
In love with this hairstyle!
i wish i knew about this before i got my marley twists today! this is so gorgeous!. I can not believe that tonight is the first time that i have stumbled on your channel. I just can't believe. i'm subscribed for life. your style and your hair are amazing
Wow so pretty!
OMG that is so pretty!
Thank you!
Very good! Nice, clean tutorial. You got right to the point. I loved that you did close-ups when necessary. It was clear and concise. Perfect! I give you an A+
I just fell in love after watching this video! This will be my next style. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for sharing!
I would love to do this, but it just seems like a lot of work.
I love the curls so much! Gosh, you did such a good job. QUICK QUESTION! Is there any way I could do my hair like that and have the length of the curls longer? Like, bra strap length maybe? Do I use more hair, tie it together or what? Lol, I hope you get what I'm trying to say! Anyone who knows how to answer my question please do! :)
I want this hair style asap!
She makes this looks so easy
Sista you did an excellent tutorial and your hair..... just marvelous! Thanks for sharing.
How do you take them down? This was wonderful! Thanks for sharing
Thank you hun. You have No Idea how much you just helped me. My next style im doing after i take my hair down is crochet braids and I've been debating back and forth on rather i wanna get fretress soft dread hair or marley. (B/c i could do twist outs w/this hair too huh?) AND I've debated on leaving out or not leaving out some real hair. Sooo thank you sooo very muchly.!
How do you maintain ? (Or is that video next )
LOVE this video you did a GREAT job. I think I'm going to try this style because your hair is GORGEOUS
Love, Love, Love it! I think I just found my next hairstyle. Have to protect it for winter and this looks amazing.
Luv your work an the style :-) :-)
1 question: what type of moisturizer did you use? Please and thanks
OMG, girl. That hairstyle is everything. Looks so easy and protective too. I cant wait to try it, or get my African hairbraider to do it. Loves
Absolutely LOVE this! I will be trying this! ❤️
How to remove this? Btw great video :-)
Need this done for my birthday coming up. I actually want to be doing this from now on, instead of braids.
A little too spaced out for me on the back, but by far THE BEST I've seen on UA-cam! Thank you for sharing!
Very beautiful and easy to follow! Thanks for posting this!
But how do you remove them, doesn't it hurt?
Can you do a video of you taking this down when you do. It looks hard.
This looked great, I can’t believe how much work goes into that. 👍👍
I just want to say thank you so much before tis video my hair was look a mess but because of your amazing detailed instruction on how to style and braid marley hair I look good now thank you so much and I appreciate all your videos they are detailed and easy to follow I'm glad I watched this video because it made me subscribe to your channel
Hello I was wondering how you did the back portion of your hair. The portion where all the braids come together
Merci
Beautiful! You've done a magnificent job. Yours by far is the best tutorial on this method. Thanks for Sharing.
OMG gorgeous!!! I remember crochet braids when I was little but they have been revamped.
I love this I'm curious How do you take them out??
U cut it all the way where ur not is and u detangle the not and its out I saw this in another video
When I had my crochet Marley hair in, the knots loosen over time by themselves. When I took my crochet twist out I loosen the knot more, I would hold the loc of Marley hair taught making sure there was enough space between my cornroll and knot to cut directly under the knot without cutting my braid. This process took about 1 hour. I was being very careful not to cut my hair.
I been doing this style for a very long time using the Marley hair to crochet my braids. People would ask me how long have been wearing y hair natural. In this profile pic I have the Marley Crochet Braids but I like to wear them short and I DO NOT tie them that many times because when you have them up for a while and you get new growth, you got to be REALLY careful because you can damage or pull your hair out, so I dont use the loop technique at all, I pull the end of the hair through the braids and tie the ends together like you tie a shoe string without the bow. This style it will look like the hair is growing from your scab instead of tied, plus it much much easier to take down. As you can see in my profile picture I have the Marley Crochet Braids wore in a short style.
I'm in love with this style! Gorgeous!
Awesome! I love it! 😍 Once my natural hair gets long enough I will definitely try this
