    Absolutely enjoy how detailed and straightforward without all the music background other videos have. Great job. Love this idea I will be trying! This is well worth a subscription from me❤

    I made a Bootstrap form which never did mirror my body. You have given me some good ideas on how to adjust it to fit me. I do enjoy your channel. thank you for all your efforts to help out the sewing community.

      I still have my bootstrap pattern tucked away. I already printed it and typed it all together. I put it in a big envelope and forgot about it.

    Well that’s a whole lot simpler than the Bootstrap version!!! Thankyou many times over. The mattress topper is a brilliant idea, it would just expand into the fabric casing.

    That is very clever. I would not have thought of that.
    Have you seen the Butterwick pattern 6092? It is a shell dress. It is made for fitting garments and more like a sloper.
    It is snug. You can make it open in eitber the front or back. There are some options.
    Your system works good too. I'm just recommending another option.

    Thank you so much for this. I had an expensive adjustable dress form, which was never the right size, and it fell apart when I moved to a new apartment. So I bought a cheaper polystyrene one, from Amazon, which I intend to pad out and cover. You have given me so many ideas to make the job easier. The adjustable dress forms are rubbish and you can't pin into them. Yours is much better. 😊👏👏👏

    Love your idea of making a dress form. Other ways have looked way too technical and for that reason I've never tried to make one. I'm wondering if you could "quilt as u go" (as I have absolutely no help)?

    That was ingenious! I never thought of using a dress pattern. I do have a commercial dress form, but its a terrible fit. I’m going to try your process.
    That is possibly the ugliest dress i’ve ever seen! I don’t think my old granny would have worn that. It was an unflattering princess seam mumu. Your repurposing of it was an infinite improvement. 😂

    This is the second video of yours that I have watched. I’ve watched a number of videos on dress form making and yours is the simplest I have seen. And the one that makes the most sense!! I’m planning on making mine and was thinking perhaps I will put my bra on the dress form first and stuff it to the correct size then pad around it. Do you think that will work? Thanks for making this video it really has inspired me. Happy New Year!!!

    That sound straight forward enough to give it a try! Would love to see how you mounted them and what you used for a base?
    At the moment, I am bent on working through my stash and there are some heavy duty fabrics I could use for a dress form.

    What type of pattern would you recommend to use for a child to make a dress form like you did for your kids?
    *I went to Simplicity's website, and they have this pattern in children's also. I'm assuming that's what I would use to make a children's dress form?

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Місяць тому +2

      Sorry it took me so long. Any dress pattern that you can make as close fitting as possible. And as children tend to grow make sure there are bis seam allowances so that you can make them bigger as they go. Good luck!

    When would you do the length adjustments if any are needed?

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Рік тому

      Probably before you put the zipper on. It's ok if the zipper dangle a bit below the form, but on wawak you can get just about any length

      I am using just random forms. I believe one I got at a second hand store, and the other I got at a yard sale. The fun part about this is that you don't need to find a form that is even remotely close to your actual size. I think that one of the ones that I used here was a very small store display type form, and the other was an ancient dress form that was very small. I would just look around, Facebook marketplace, yard sales, things like that. Or you can purchase a dress form that is smaller than your size so that you have room to pad it up.
