Excellent video and review! Yes, I'm very interested. Like you, my body has more padding in some places than others, so a custom dress form is exactly what I need. Thanks so much, Stephanie!!!
Thanks Dori! I made this video a while back and my sewing journey continues, i think it’s a life long journey of learning. 👏🏻 And I also have “padding” lol. 😩🤪😅😅

You are the second person with a video on the custom Bootstrap dressform. You have both done a great job. So much prettier than the dial-a-shape ones. Okay, I'm convinced. Going to order the pattern.
I just finished trimming my bootstrap diy dress form pattern pieces tonight. I still have to do a temp finish on the fabrics I'm using for it and wash, dry, iron, and cut my pieces. I'm a beginner with sewing, but I'm feeling confident with this. My attitude is: if I can do this then I can do anything! It seems very straightforward but a tad tedious from other sew alongs with this pattern. I don't mind tedious knowing the outcome. Thank you for this review and I hope to see your sewing video of this project. It's always great to see other sewers do this project.

Thank you so much for sharing these dress form videos. Do you have a video of using it for fitting or modifying patterns or favorite sources for fitting patterns? I am a plus size. Also 58. Often I would additionally need to raise a neckline or lower a hemline. I then wonder about fabric yardage as plus skirt patterns can take the width before lengthening. See I am in a tizzy before starting. I used to sew quite a bit...advanced beginner maybe, but was thinner and younger so fitting wasn't much of an issue.
Not yet...but I will soon! As for modifying patterns, this is new to me. Interestingly, I'm currently taking a class on it. So, I hope to have it figured out soon, and Yes!, I will do some videos on the process. Thanks for watching...more to come!

Hi Stephanie! I'm so glad to hear from you! I'm not sure about where the interfacing goes. Does it get ironed onto only the face fabric? Also, the instructions say to fold over face fabric (I'm assuming right sides together) and cut out 2 pieces of the patterns. The 2 pieces(left side and right side) Do I fuse the interfacing all over the face fabric first then fold it in half, then cut out? I've already "prepped" the interfacing, interlining and face fabric. Any help is soooo appreciated! Can't wait to get started :) I hope all that made sense!
Julie Power The instructions said to interface the fabric before cutting. I didn’t do that. I cut all my pieces first, then I ironed on the interfacing the wrong side of each of the self/main pieces. That worked out well. Also, on the pipe piece, the long one...it said cut one. I cut two and that worked. I didn’t figure that out until I got to that part.
Thanks so much! I just finished ironing on the interfacing and cutting everything out! Off to buy the pvc pipe and hope to get sewing this weekend! Fingers crossed!

Yes, I had the same thought. In the instructions they suggest that you keep measuring as you fill/stuff. I did that. So, I only stuffed it to fit my measurements. It's firm but not super firm. I am trying to make this now. It's a nightmare for me. The pieces don't match after printing. Some have pretty big gaps I have to fill and blend. Etc. I'm seriously thinking about demanding my money back after over 6 hours of trying to make it work. It also takes up lots of paper.
Hi Crystal, it was the most difficult project I’ve ever done, so I get it. You should definitely reach out to them. As for the printing, there may be a setting that would make the difference. It’s been a while since I did this project, so I can’t tell you what settings to use, but I know on pdf patterns you have to set it for what the directions say. I think it’s usually 100% (maybe “actual size”) not “fit” or “fill” the page. I don’t know if you’ll get past this, but I can tell you I still love my dress form. Good luck!!! 😊
@@FarrellFocus I set it that way and my printer didn't print the pages correctly. It left of at the margins creating gaps and misalignment in my pieces and I don't know how to fix that. So Chances are the whole things going in the recycling bin and I will be left trying to drape on my self from now on as I can't afford the paper or the ink to print the entire pattern again.
@@FarrellFocus Right now I'm having to put things on and manage to adjust them and pin them then manage to take them off without ruining the adjustments and then sew everything. For an able-bodied person that's not too bad usually but for me with my joint issues it's very hard on me. I often end up shifting a joint out of place doing it which is why I don't sew that often. I was hoping for a dress form in my size as I think that will help me a lot.
I have your same shape . Can you send me copy of your dress form ? I have no computer or printed to get it 😣 and i want it.. i can send you money for that.
I wouldn't know how to do that. The best thing would be to contact the company, they are really nice and I'm sure they would be able to help you out. Do you have their contact info? It's called Bootstrap Fashion. Good Luck!

@@crystald3655. That is so frustrating! Sorry. To be honest, nothing really replaces trying things on myself. 😊

Well, maybe you can come back to it. Hopefully the company can fix your problems. 😊
Good Luck!
