That's right That's a fluck of chichalacas That's very interesting to see so many chichalacas they sing bery beautiful whene they get together as a group. they're very beautiful birds they tast beter then chicken .
You are correct. I call them and they fly down to me and land on my head, shoulders and arms. They have claws like a cat so they can hang on to tree limbs. I get a lot of bloody scratches from them.
I also live in deep south Texas and normally hunt quail & rabbit but if I find chachalacas I'll go ahead & take one. They taste exactly like a wild chicken.
Cool! I've been seeing a few them in the past month in our backyard. They also like watermelon :). I'm going to try feeding them what you fed them too.
They love watermelon, cantelope, grapes, apples, oranges, bananas, lettuce, bread, dry cat food (small pellets), any fruit, pastries or bread, sunflower seed. They strip all my plants of flowers and new leaves. They eat all the citrus on my citrus trees before they are ripe. They eat everything. I have about 40 now in Sept. but should have around 60 by the end of the year. They spend the winter in my back yard.
Bread is not very good for your birds. They get full on it but it's nutritionally insufficient, but since they're full they don't eat what they should. Check with your vet. Feeding any animals bread is not really optimal.
They are prehistoric looking, and not too bright. I had one "fight" his own reflexion in my window EVERY morning. He never figured out it wasn't another bird.
They are in my back yard and nobody is allowed back there. They are tame. If I sit down they will jump up in my lap. I call them and they come running. Usually have 30 to 50 birds in the winter. I feed them twice a day. Always fresh water here.
Son especies protegidas, no son para la venta ni para comerlas. Solo en la gente muerta de hambre se oye o se ve eso. Quieren arrasar con toda la naturaleza.

Jack Franklin Roberts Thanks. Thats awesome :) (not the part where they eat your flowers and citrus though 😅) They are cool looking birds.
I caught a chachalaca but the poor thing almost fainted in my hands out of stress, so I let it go.

They are very territorial and fight other males all the time. Constant cock fights.
Sounds like the bird wanted a cock fight
