  • Ave Maria! Don't be discouraged by the dryness and distractions you may experience during prayer. We should not see involuntary distractions as an obstacle, but rather as a means to show our love for God in spite of how we may feel by making an act of the will to turn our minds back to Him. This short video explains how to do just that.

Thank you for this video. It gave me a new way to look at distractions during prayer.

I remember once Father you said start by placing yourself in the presence of God - I have always found this helpful to take a moment and a deep breath to do this. Thank you

A good priest told when distracted in prayer to stop say the memorare and 3 glory be,and then carry on with your prayers, calling on our blessed mother and God, has helped me.

Very good advice Father. It takes 3 weeks to get some images out of your mind. And perhaps some never. Junk food for the mind. 🙏🏻❤️‍🔥

During prayer, when a thought comes into my head such as an important thing I must do that I previously didn’t think of and will most likely forget about if I bat it completely away, I have a tendency to anchor that thought while praying so that I can carry on concentrating somewhat on my prayer but still keep hold of the thought. I can anchor several at once if I put my mind to it as it sometimes happens where some things of practical importance springs to mind and I am not about to disrupt my prayer by going off to get a notepad and pen and jot thoughts down. However I am aware that I am still being distracted and my attention is in some way being divided and that I probably wouldn’t be able to lose myself in meditation without losing those anchors, although to be perfectly honest, I am not good at achieving this even without any anchor-inducing thoughts entering my head. So what are your thoughts on that? Is it necessary to sacrifice all intrusive thoughts no matter how important? Is the practice of anchoring thoughts during prayer discouraged?

Ave Maria! We are from the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate. We have separated ourselves from the institute in light of some unfortunate changes to their way of life. We live the true charism of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, and are under the guidance of its founder, Fr. Stefano Manelli. If you are interested in joining us, please contact: vocations@themarianfranciscans.org . God bless you, and may Our Lady keep you.

I'm scared by the way you look. I feel I don't know who you are , what you are about or even if the message you try to carry is for me. I'm lost in my relationship with the Church. I'm a cradle Catholic, I have a strong Faith in Jesus, indeed the Trinity is at the centre of my beliefs, but for people with a free will there is nowhere for any discussion in my Archdiocese. Synodality means American nuns and people who already work for the Archdiocese being sent on holiday to agree with anything they've already made up their minds about.
I was charged £200 for a course in catechetics that an American priest did for free on UA-cam.
