  • Watch how we kick this Smashburger up with Pit Patriot’s Raging Reaper Salsa and Tex-Mex Habanero seasoning! All done on the Slow ’N Sear Kettle with the Plancha!
    • Started with ½ pound Wagyu ground beef from Costco.
    • Set up the Slow ‘N Sear Kettle to be 2 zones. Banked some charcoal from a previous cook and some new on one side.
    • Placed the Plancha on the grill and let the internal temp of the grill come up to 375 degrees.
    • Sprayed the Plancha with cooking spray.
    • Made a few strips of our home made bacon to top the burger.
    • Once the bacon was close to done, picked the area on the Plancha I wanted for the smashing. Medium high heat area, place the 2 1/4 lb balls on the Plancha and smashed them holding for about 10 seconds to keep the shape.
    • Added some Pit Patriot’s Tex-Mex Habanero seasoning.
    • Once the edges looked right, we flipped them and added some more seasoning.
    • Added cheese near the end and pulled them off of the grill.
    • When building we added Pit Patriot Raging Reaper Salsa on top.
    Summary: The Plancha worked perfectly and the smashburgers were great. The Pit Patriots Habanero was a nice add and the Raging Reaper had a good kick, but was not over the top with some good flavor. These did shrink a little more than normal, but the Wagyu has a good amount of fat content.

      it works well and makes you charcoal grill into a flattop. Because I also have a Blackstone, I don’t use this as often as I should! Cheers!

    Can't say I want salsa or Habanero seasoning on a burger but who knows, might be ok! But we do love smashburgers on our sns plancha... 1/2 chimney is always plenty of charcoal when using the plancha - probably even less for breakfasts when cooking pancakes or eggs. I have that same smasher and it works perfectly with 2.5 to 3 oz meatballs. We like them pretty flat with lots of that amazing crust. Thanks for the video, cheers!

      Yes, I like some heat, this was almost too much, but it did have some great flavor! Good tips on the charcoal quantity, I had it running a little too hot on the one side, but the great thing is plenty of room on the Plancha for the perfect spot! I do like that smasher, these were 4oz and the only issue was the amount of fat in this Wagyu ground beef, even holding for 10+ seconds, they still shrunk on me. As you mentioned the crust is outstanding! thanks as always! Cheers!

    Looks way too hot for me. My complements to Jack on shooting that video. I loved the shot where you were smashing and the steam and smoke was shooting out from the wax paper. Nice work fellas!

    What’s the big deal about a “smash burger”? How is is compared to “regular bbq burgers”?

    • @beers-jackofbbq
      @beers-jackofbbq  Рік тому +1

      For me the smashburger gets a great crusts on both sides and will remain extremely juicy when done right. A regular is not a bad thing, but my wife will always request a smashburger over any other style. Give it a try! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
