The video says the "feature" of placing the name of each state and when it joined the Union was added in 1924...meaning the stonework was added. 20:30 It is thought that the sphinx originally had the head of a lion which was in proportion to the body size. Kafre later having it chipped down to create his own appearance is the predominant explanation as to why the head is comically small in comparison. Also, it has been generally accepted that the sphinx is far older than the mere 4,500 years given. The reason why the body of the lion has significant erosion on alternating layers is because it was subject to intermittent flooding and drying. Evidence has been found on its body that shows that the sphinx was buried up to its neck for a significant period of time. Thousands of years of the Nile's widely varying water height is another reason why the layering likely took place, because many recurrent periods of standing ground water caused the disintegration of alternating layers.
You are correct, it's a shame this video contains Egypt's continued denial mantra of being the one's who built it rather than the one's who found it. If it had been a symbol of Kafre, the pyramid behind (which I doubt he built either) would have been ALIGNED with the Sphynx. Erosion dating puts this structure quite a bit further back in time, perhaps even before the Younger Dryas.
