Very thorough video and since I am a new dirt bike rider this was incredibly helpful! Thank you for explaining everything and not assuming we already know the basics.
bought my 2021 yz250f today! but it’s suppose to arrive at the dealership sometime this month the wait is gonna feel like forever but this bike will be a huge upgrade I’ve had a 2017 crf150f for 4 years now and this will be the first bike I bought myself super hyped
Great video. FYI the bolt you are told to remove in the manual, is just below the bolt you loosened. Doesn’t really matter either way, but the other bolt is easier to get at and doesn’t put your hand near the header when bikes running.
Dude bike is sick, glad to see someone kicking content on it. Really makes me want one, we will have to see what the future brings. Keep up the content, your killing it!
Thanks dude, i had some questions and you def answered them in this video and were accurate to the manual which i did not have at the time. Great content
I just did my first service on my '21 YZ250F, it's definitely not as easy to service as my KTMs. There is no space to get a torque wrench in to check your sump bolt. I know you can do it by 'feel' but I prefer to do it with a calibrated wrench
Great video, thank you for sharing. Just for curiosity, what happens is the bikes stays on for long time how you mentioned on the video and spits the coolant? That would breaks the bike?
That isn’t the oil pressure check bolt I have the same bike and it’s actually a bolt under that one if you look in the manual. And what brand is your number plate graphics is it black numbers with a clear background or blue background?
Hey man I have a 21YZ 250 F and I’m literally changing the oil as we speak and I’m wondering how much oil I put in there. I just want to specify and I have the same exact canister as you.
Hey, i saw the bike carrier you attached to your hitch, that's totally what I need for back of rv so I can stop having my brother take my bike. Can you tell me what your using. Thank you.
@@akmoto_ yeah, check out page 3-11. Picture at top left of the page. The bolt is lower down the engine, you access it from below the exhaust. Bolt faces LHS instead of Forwards if you get my drift.
I’m not saying you’re wrong I’m just asking because I’m confuse myself you say in the video you can’t put the oil filter on backwards but I know a lot of people that run it the opposite way I was here to figure out which way is the right way to do it but I looked at a lot of other videos and they’re also doing it the other way is there really a wrong and right way to do it
You physically can’t put the oil filter in backwards on this bike. It may not show on video but there’s a post in the side case and a hole in the filter. There’s only one way to install it
It’s really up to you, hard to go wrong either way. I personally use semi synthetic because I change the oil so often, I couldn’t justify the extra price for full synthetic
@@akmoto_ bought an assortment and none fit perfectly. So it’s still leaking. I’m wondering if the owner before me didn’t re-tap it and put a BS bolt in.
i watched this video just because i wanted to see where the bolt is and my guy here does everything but doesn’t show the bolt, good video except for this

Used to go for month before changing oil on my 15 kx450f

Drained the oil without getting oil on hands 💪🏻

Loved this video im a new rider plan on getting my first bike soon but I wanted to at least be able to keep up with the basic maintenance myself
That's for the oil pressure demonstration. Couldn't find a manual and just finished a rebuild
Just got this exact same bike, awesome video
good morning I found the video very useful for the service of my bike. at minute 9.32 what do you use? as a cleaner

@Rider_9 your right it does.. made this comment before i knew that.

Very informative! Thank you

You think it sitting after the last time it would’ve all been settled pretty well
you should do a YZ125 vs YZ250f video.
Same process on my 2017 YZ250f ;)
I have a 2021 too they have a safety feature where they will shut off after seven minutes of idling or 5
Question, where did you get your exhaust cover? I have been looking for one and haven't seen one anywhere...
i got this bike and there is like 5 different oil weights why did you go with 10 50 rather than 10 40 or 20 50
Bike and video is so good 💪🏻
Just changed the oil in my yz250f for the first time after riding it for 40.1 hrs. Lmao. I didn’t think I had to change the oil.
Were you riding the track? Lmao if you were your head prolly has scratches on it.
R.I.P
@@riograndecttu fr bro the poor bikes gonna need a new head.
The oil pressure bolt you talk about isn't the one referenced in the manual.
Are you sure? It’s the only one

does the 2022 yz 250f take 25.3 oz's of oil, I would assume but wanna confirm
How close is this to the 2020

Hello
What is the best oil recomandation for this bike please?
10w40 10w50
300v?
Pick up mine next w.e.
What oil filter do I use?
Already dented the silencer?
They come dented from factory to clear rear tire
Is it the same as a 2019 sorry I'm new to this and cant wait to get mine
Yes the bikes are pretty much identical from 2019-2021
Hey man I only ride mx should I use semi synthetic or full 10w50?
It’s really up to you, hard to go wrong either way. I personally use semi synthetic because I change the oil so often, I couldn’t justify the extra price for full synthetic
@@akmoto_ ok thank you I change my oil every 4 hours so I’ll go with semi.
@@akmoto_ I bought maxima 10w40 premium Im gonna change my oil every 3-4 hours thx.
First love the vids
Next time just turn screw a couple turns out and check pressure that way. Never take out bolt like that
How much oil do you use when changing the oil without doing the filter?
5 quarts
What size oil filter did you use? I’m new to the YZ world. I read the manual and couldn’t find anything.
There’s no “size” to get. Just go to a website like RMATVMC or Motosport and input your bike and find an oil filter that fits your bike
Why do some yamahas have a 12mm and some have a 14mm oil drain bolt? I cannot find a crush washer that fits mine and it’s leaking
Buy a crush washer assortment, comes with many sizes. Then you can figure out whatever your size is
@@akmoto_ bought an assortment and none fit perfectly. So it’s still leaking. I’m wondering if the owner before me didn’t re-tap it and put a BS bolt in.
If it was re-tapped and the threads aren’t perfectly straight in it could leak
What maps do you use. I just picked mine up yesterday haven’t broken her in yet
Keefer Free Feeling
What can you use instead of contact cleaner for the screen filter
Air compressor blower gun
Intro was you repeating the same thing 4 times
Hi, do you have to change the gear oil too?
This bike has engine and transmission oil combined. Just one oil to change
@@akmoto_ sick dude thanks!
Sure wish I had my owners manual
what kind of oil are u using
Yamalube Semi-synthetic 10W-50 👌🏼

Where did u bought the number only for the YZ250f?
You can buy them almost anywhere the bike dealership, walmart, dollar store, etc..

just make sure that oil screen is clear of anything for good oil flow
@@bruhbruh5051 okay thank you
The yz250f turns it’s self off if it idles for 7 minutes
They are set to do that so they don’t overheat

The oil he just changed lubricates everything
