There is something in Irish music that reaches inside me and draws out the fear and the nervousness, if I let it. This song, this woman's voice, does it better than anything else I have yet found.
I agree, there is something healing in this music, it makes me happy when I am sad, peaceful when I am anxious, and never fails to bring a smile to my lips.
Wow! I had never heard of Deanta! Her voice is so rich and pure! The musicians, who were accompanying her, were/are fabulous and greatly talented as well. What a pleasure and what beauty to my ears. Thanks for sharing!
this song is awesome romantic ^^ i love the chieftains version too with this sweet voice is very nice to listen and the music is light and smooth so nice for the ears
You might has the got the song tittle dude. This is the same melody as Moll Dubh a' Ghleanna or Dark Molly of the Glenn which is a traditional song of course that Altan did a long time ago. It is possible both songs have the same meoldy just different tempos?

Her name is Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh. "Deanta" means "Made". "Ta Mo Chleamhnas Deanta" means "My match is made."
...if it's Mairead - I fell in love with her first!

Lovely! Tom, thanks for your great posts!
Draws out is a phrase that here means 'to remove from and discard.'
Meaning the music makes me feel calm.

Fantastic song and very well performed. Isn't it from the Transatlantic sessions? A great serie!
I think I just fell in love...
Gorgeous!
Beautiful!
Truer words were never written on UA-cam, lol.
Title is "Tá Mo Chleamhnas á Dhéanamh". Not sure where the "Deanta" came from.
Sublime.....
Wow!
Also check out the version by Van Morrison & The Chieftains on Irish Heartbeat. Much jauntier - not better or worse, just another take on a good tune.
Oran eireachdal :-)
She's Alright !

I will never get my head around Gaelic spelling.
My mistake - Took Deanta in the song title for Deanta the group!1
Ha--good point.

Looks and sounds like Mairead Ni Mhaonaigh rather than Mary Dillion!!
