- Sheldon Wohlman of Utility Sports extensively covers the Portland Trail Blazers ahead of a jam-packed 2024 NBA offseason. Who could the Blazers look to sign in free agency? The Trail Blazers have four picks in the 2024 NBA Draft so who should they target? Matas Buzelis, Kel'el Ware, Dalton Knecht, Ron Holland, Donovan Clingan and Stephon Castle all make some sense in round one while later in the draft names like Baylor Scheierman, Adem Bona and Trentyn Flowers could all be tremendous. Would Portland ever consider trading away Anfernee Simons? Names like Malcolm Brogdon, Jerami Grant and Malcolm Brogdon all could be available. Leave a like and subscribe for more NBA Content!

I think Toumani Camara should be talked about as well. Obviously not a lot of attention placed on him this year but a very underrated get in that Ayton trade.
Yeah PHO reportedly really wanted to keep him, but Portland would not budge...
yeah i didnt understand why he wasn't brought. definitely was a steal & is going to be a really good player for us
He was Portland's best rookie this year.
This is the best no b.s. basketball channel! All hoops, no nonsense 😊
I wholeheartedly agree with you 💯%.
Sheldon has that suprpising BDE
ya its p good. if u want deep deep knowledge and of the trail blazers. blazers uprise is best
I feel like the biggerst knock on BU is the lack of deep knowledge. I think he does an admirable job of filling 40 minutes - especially when he has a guest to riff with. Utility Sports is deep knowledge. Just this segment shows what a deeply learned fan he is of the NBA but also, how closely follows other NBA teams. I feel like he's a Mavericks fan - does pretty well staying objective evaluating other teams and their needs - which for the blazers are many!
I LOVE NONSENSE
Shaedon did not start out slow. Anfernee went down and Scoot was very bad to start, so early on Sharpe played huge minutes and looked great. He got a core injury in December and the played poorly until he was pulled and got season ending surgery.
💯% facts.
a guy whose actually informed on the team. love it
Sorry, but 40.6/33.3 shooting splits isn’t quite “great”.
He had a horrid stretch in November from the field. Still high on his talent, but we can call a spade a spade
@@UtilitySports ur not really understanding it tho, this is probably, 99% likely due to his core that would end up taking him out for the season and into surgery, thats how bad it was for him, so. if u want to know a lot of detail for ur own channel, watch blazers uprise!
I do understand how the injury affected him which is why I said that in the video
It’s so refreshing to listen to an analyst who actually watches our team! 😃
You can hear the difference in takes immediately, not just vomiting out “disappointing Scoot season, Malcolm trade upcoming” etc.
Thank you bro!
I like Holland if he’s there at 7. He has a chip on his shoulder and we need that. Go Blazers!!
I honestly think we have a chance of being the worst team in the league next season and I hope we are because Cooper Flagg should be the blazers #1 priority imo
I think Sharpe did better than what it shows on paper. He did make an improvement this last season, his split was not great but that was due to a credit injury, and he was not playing in his true position so other players could not facilitate him effectively. Tonami as well played very well for his rookie season
Go Blazers! Love the channel you’re doing great 👍🏻
Let’s goooo thank you bro❤️❤️
W video! We’ve got nothing to look forward to other than hypotheticals - Blazers fan
Appreciate the deep dive!
The unnecessary duop reath slander needs to stop cuz for one hes a backup center who cares fr nd 2 he played really well in his minutes
man he really showed me something this year. he keep hitting that 3 ball we might be on to something
Thanks for the video! RIP CITY! 🖤❤🏀
Great video and I would love love love to see a mock trade video on all the Blazers veterans
If we can get bulelis and salun holland any combination of those 3
Great content, the Blazers are a really interesting team to see how things pan out.
i just hope we can draft a star at # 7
We are not this is a very weak draft so it’s not really realistic we should try to find best talent
@@hamadalkaabi2160 aye man you never know. same way stars can be found in the second round. i got some optimism
@@jetlifeporter23Draymond Green & Jokic were 2nd round picks so I agree with U. People always follow the popular narrative w/o doing homework is lazy. I believe there's talent in this draft that's going to dispell the notion of this being a really bad no talent draft. Great take, I definitely agree with you.
@@rosecityusa6120 exactly. i've been watching these prospects all season (knowing we were going to be bad) to get an idea of them myself instead of just going off what the "experts" say
I hope we get Buzelis and Edey. Those are both legitimate swings.
Bro thank you 🙏
I’d be surprised if Chauncey billups was still there after next season.
Yep... given the fact the FO declined to bring back coaches Brooks and Chauncey's brother (never a good idea for a hire), sounds like they expect some changes.
I am surprised every year they bring him back after the end of his second year. Portland has a lot of raw talent.
Chauncey has been instructed to tank every year so the fact is that no one really knows how good of an NBA coach he can be
So Portland was tanking when Lillard was still there?
@@garybankston9319 Yeah they pulled the plug after all star break and sat everyone to get that Sharpe pick at 7 as soon as they realized it wasn't going as well as they'd hoped they pulled the plug or Portland would have gotten into the Play-in easily
Yeah man I’m really not a big fan for Grant on this team. He should not be playing 4 with those terrible rebounding numbers and I just think those mins would be better going to our young guys like Jabari Walker, Toumani Camara, Kris Murray and Rayan Rupert.
Yeah, you're right. Cody Williams is a perfect fit and Portland should draft based on that and based on his potential as a two way wing.
Clingan is good but probably not available considering Woj stated he is considered in the Top 3.
Hopefully Rob Williams can stay healthy until the trade deadline because he would have real value to a contender then...
agreed
Blazers have 4 draft picks, and "star players" that quit their season early. It's hard to forecast Portland improving, while unprofessional tanking is allowed
Would Love if you could cover the Detroit Pistons. They have the most cap space. Simone is a great fit, but need some NBA players on the roster. They like Jermi Grant, Tobias Harris, Brandon Ingram. Cade need some help. But a young core.
Yes my team!!!!
Using ESPN's Draft Simulator, here's the best pool of players landing at Blazers' picks, in order of liklihood:
7 - Knecht, Salaun, Buzelis, Clingan
14 - Edey, Da Silva, Holland
34 - Dunn, McCullar, Klintman, Smith
40 - Bona, Mogbo, Chomche, Ingram
This assumes they pass on all PGs and SGs
Wouldn't the Pistons be interested in trading for Grant? If we're interested in the 5th pick, I could see them asking for him.
Could you do the Jazz next?
I'd only be willing to make a move with Chicago only if we can get the protection off of our future picks. Cause the team still owes them a future pick to them from the idiotic Larry Nance trade.
A guy that might be a good upside swing in the second round might be Ulrich Chomche. Very athletic and has really good length
Do clippers off-season plan please?
Do clippers
Only good 7 picks if holland and buzelis are gone is williams and salaun
Blazers should draft Buzelis
Ron Holland is no where near shaedon sharpe
He is less explosive but more physical and has a way better motor on defense… Sharpe’s ceiling might be slightly higher but if Holland can shoot he also has borderline All-Star potential
Simons to Orlando PLEASE!
Trade Brogdon and the #14 pick to the Rockets for #3. Then you will have the #3 and #7 pick.
Thats what i said ppl saying it has to be 7 nd im like huh. Brogdon himself is worth a first and we’re only getting back salary filler
@@grimlockthethrasher1 If Houston throws in Tate and Landale as salary filler, you can release them because their contracts are team option and open up about 15 million in cap space. That alone would warrant trading the 7th pick instead. You could almost go out and sign someone like Tyus Jones and be set at point guard for years. I just want Brogdan on Houston. They can make a good selection with the 14th pick and develop him.
Would like to see them get Ingram
Why?
Trade candidate 1 is absolutely grant. He needs to gtfo this team. Contract is ass and he steals minutes from the young players
Not in April he doesn't! LOL
@@JSPRKL 😂😂
The trade candidate numbers weren’t in order of priority. They were just in order of when I wanted to talk about them. Wasn’t excited about Grant either 🤣
@@UtilitySports ah fair
Ayton is a major headcase I doubt the worst program in the league can improve that
