Wow great job!!! Finally someone who actually has a coverstitch machine!!!! I have been looking at a lot of tee shirt videos and you are the first sewer that makes a tee shirt the right way!!!!
what ive been aligning the seams perfectly ......now you say put them beside each other it just makes perfect sence ..... your little tips and tricks are the best ........some one who know what there doing......... i enjoy the vids and the xtra tips are so valuable THANKS
I have been sewing for decades and I must say the way that you explain things makes it very easy to understand , I will certainly recommend you to anyone who needs help with their projects!
I have had an overlocker for years and have no idea how to use it. It does every stitch imaginable but I just do straight overlocker and nothing else. I have got so many tips from this video and I am going to try to do the cover stitch next. Thank you so much.
Great video I'm going to try to make it. You have perfectly beautiful hands and nails for close up instructions along with the beautiful jewelry. Love that ring on your right hand.
Making a t shirt has always been a great mystery to me. I've tried to scale down t shirts many times, and usually fail. This has been eye opening (re: the sleeves do not get attached last, ha ha). You have lovely hands, a nice manicure and I love your jewelry!
You are a fantastic teacher! Please do a lot more serger videos, there's a lot of specific tutorials for serging (e.g. how to do a rolled hem) and there are a lot of sew-along videos, but not that many "serge along" videos like yours! A pajama pants tutorial would be awesome :) P.S. can you use contrasting threads? It's very difficult to see on camera right now
Excellent excellent tutorial. I have all 3 machines and never knew how to sew a t shirt on a serger. Just got a new cover stitch. Can't wait to try this just as you have shown. Mostly appreciate how you explained how to measure for and then attach the neck binding.
i must have fallen asleep at some point watching some other tutorials. when I woke up, I found you! I must watch yours from the start again. I have a Pfaff sewing machine and serger and all the works. sadly, i cannot do much with it. I would love to learn more especially monogramming and all these CD's that do embroidery. and how to add embellishments through the feet while stippling..hahaha, long wish list. so, if you don't have any of these items on your playlist, please consider adding. bc I am going to binge on what you have so far. many thanks ahead of time
This is a brilliant tutorial. Even though I've made a lot of clothing with stretch knits, I still learned a few professional tricks. Thanks so much for doing this video.
Really liked your video!Loved the finished product.I am very blessed to have been able to buy an industrial overlock machine and an industrial coverstitch machine.I have been making cool tee shirts for years now.
Hi thanks so much for the tutorial. I am making a pattern from my shirt and now finally I know how to measure my neckline. I cannot wait to get started. I am a beginner sewer but lately have been making things other than skirts.
So happy I found this [again]. Great tutorial! The calculations for the neck self-binding is helpful because we always kind flounder. Reducing the length helps avoid sagging. Thank you!!!
100 thumbs up ......why do some people leave nasty comments .......if i dont like something i go away and find other vids that can improve me........ any one who watched this vid and didnt learn some thing........... didnt need to be here in the first place the vid was informative
You are adorable Ma'am. I love your accent and your voice. I bought a serger 3 weeks ago, took it outta the box, and got scared to death seeing all those tails hanging. I didnt know how to get rid of them, THIS AINT A SEWING MACHINE! 😫 I watched dozens of good BEGINNERS videos before attempting to touch my serger. Ooof it's still in the box. After watching your brilliant video, I decided to get that serger on to the table. It does SO MUCH, HEAVENS THIS IS UNIMAGINABLE. I thought it ONLY CUTS but it does hems too. Do you have videos for BEGINNERS? I really enjoyed the way you explained, the cameraman or cameralady was great too. Thanks for sharing and caring. Wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅🎅🎅🎁🎁🎁 AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS. 👍👍👍🍾🍾🍾 from France
@@SewingMachineWarehouse I rushed and subscribed to your prestigious channel on UA-cam. Ma'am you're soooo beautiful. Sorry to repeat it, I LOVE 💕💕💕 YOUR ACCENT. I watched your BEGINNERS videos and holy crumbs🙃 there's so much information and you take us step by step, explaining everything in detail and ITS EASY TO UNDERSTAND. It was a fabulous world tour with the OVERLOCKER. I LOVE YOU COZ Y'RE SO HUMBLE. When you smile the world smiles with you. Tomorrow I must try threading the serger over and over again until it sticks in my ole brain. The joining of the threads was a great tip. No need to get lost in this labyrinth. 70 years is NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN. It's 10.30 pm here and will have to seriously begin, tomorrow morning, to sew along with you. Good night from here. Love your smile. Big hugs. Your fan. 👍👍👍👏👏👏🍾🍾🍾
I didn’t know that a overlocker home bought can do that seams like fabric cloths, this is new to me, I must look At the instruction book and see if my mashing can do it. And I see it’s got a double needle, interesting. Never knew I can do that. Tks for sharing....🌹❤️🌹❤️
How wide did you cut the seam allowance on this demonstration before serging? I have quite a hard time serging those patterns that has a seam allowance of 5/8", because the serger needs to cut the excess off and serge exactly on the seamline.
I've never seen that trick before of pulling the two needle threads forward so you can ease the fabric out, thanks very much! I'm not clear on how you got the overlocker to do two needle thread lines on top for the hem, do I have to disconnect the upper looper and the knife?
I don't have an overlocker but an old zig zag. I never made a tee shirt because I was afraid it wouldn't stretch. Now, I think if I do the needle to the right so the left side of the zig zag is on the seam line, it will work. Voila! It won't cut off the extra fabric, of course but, might be ok. Thanks for the video.
Love this! Not sure how you stitched the sleeve hems with the overlocker making look like twin needle but without cutting! I have an overlocker but have n't mastered yet lol. Thank you!
Jannyb55: She didn't stitched sleeve hems with an overlocker, she did it using a COVERLOCK that if you look carefully, does not trim fabric and sews with tween needles. She usted 3 machines (overlocker , sewing machine and coverlocker). Hope you're clear now.
Good tutorial! I'm just learning my overlocker. Would you possibly be able to direct me to instructions for creating that fabulous "swirling" treatment (on the dress behind you) I LOVE IT!!!
Hello Margaret, I have just bought pfaff coverlock 3.0 (it's on its way) and have watched your series with great interest. I notice, though, that the coverstitch seems to leave a bump in the centre, the reason I was keen to move hemming stretch fabric from sewing machine to overlocker. What can I change to get a completely flat coverstitch?
I love your videos!!! Your accent is adorable!!!! 2 questions: what is the calculation for double fold or rib knit binding or and which sewing machine do you prefer: Pfaff or Brother? I have learned so much from you !!!!thank you!!
Thank you Anthony! I'm so glad that I can entertain while I teach...Learning should be fun! To answer your first question: Rib binding should be two/thirds (2/3) your circumference. Self-banding i.e same fabric, should be three/quarters (3/4) your circumference. Don't forget to add 2 x seam allowance to that. To answer you second question, I sew with many sewing machines...You have to find the right one for the job. If you let me know what your sewing passion is, I can recommend one that will suit your needs. There isn't one machine that suits all people for all needs! Happy sewing! MG
Hi I was wondering if I could use a Serger alone to make clothes, instead of a sowing machine. I really wanted to have finishing edges, but I wasnt sure if sowing machines could make clean edges as well. (like, to sow on buttons, etc.... features like that are only on sowing machines, right?)
Great video, you explain very well, I have learned a lot, and continue to learn more tips and tricks. I wish you can show us on Singer stylish II. thanx
Hi thank you for this detailed vid. Is that an attachment you put on your overlocker for the cover stitch? I have a janome overlocker can I still do this?
This one is done on a coverstitch overlocker (Pfaff Coverlock 3.0). If you don't have a coverstitch overlocker, you will have to take up the hem on your sewing machine with a twin needle (which we will cover in an upcoming video).
Thank you for the great video, but if you look at most t-shirts, they start the neck binding on the left side (while wearing) seam, not the back. Just a tip.
I believe that's because in RTW t-shirts the right shoulder seam is joined, then the neckband is sewn on, then the left shoulder and band are joined in one pass. Basically you can put the band seam anywhere you like; I prefer centre back because I have long hair which hides it :)
Thank you for this vid. It would be even better to tell wich way you use the needles, wich is the drawing you use for each part of your t-shirt. I am a beginner with this overlocker machine (PFAFF Coverlock 3.0) and the seller closed his shop just after selling me this machine. So it's difficult for me understanding how it works, and the instruction sheet is brief, when alone. And in French I couldn't find something like your explainations. So thank you all the same.

Thank you thank you, finally some one who explains fully and shows close up so we can actually see what you are doing .
Brilliant tip about distributing the seam allowance with one up, one down, to minimize overlocker difficulty. Thanks for that one.

I just love how you say "Overlocker!" Great video! =)

This has to be the best, most well explained tutorial I have watched so far. Thankyou so much, now I will go and watch the rest of your vids😆
I haven't made a tshirt in 45 years, so this was a great tutorial. Thanks!

I am so glad you use this machine I just ordered it an it will help me learn and say you can do this.. thank you..
Hi and thanks a million for all, your tutorials! They are so helpful! 😎🌸
Great Video. Your demonstration and instructions were excellent!
Hello from Las Vegas! Would it not be easier to serge the sleeve edges Before sewing the side seam? Love this video
How wide did you cut the seam allowance on this demonstration before serging? I have quite a hard time serging those patterns that has a seam allowance of 5/8", because the serger needs to cut the excess off and serge exactly on the seamline.
Your video tutorials are excellent. Just wondering what’s the state of mind of those that give thumbs down
same :)
Nice vid mam. R u using stretch thread

thanks! that was very straight forward. I think I can do it now. Really like the neck ribbing measurement technique.
thank you soo much for neack line maths 👍👍👍👍(40×2=80

Great video. I learned a lot. I only wish those overlockers weren't so dang expensive.
You can get an overlocker or serger from Brother on Amazon for only $207.00.

What do you do about hems if your overlocker doesn't convert to a cover stitch?
Thank you, lovely lady! Enjoyed your video! Nice. thank you, USA.
i love your overlocker cover in the background. do you have a pattern available for it?
Well done Margaret, happy New year from Bob and Anna Stiles
Your nails always look so perfect. I wonder if you can write manicures off as a business expense in Australia. :P
+Christina Chadwick Thank you. :) I wish! How good would that be?! - M.
Thank you! Great video but what kind of serger was that in which you did the hem on the arm as I didn’t see the cutting/trimmer anywhere?

Thanks.
Madam, good evening.many many thanks for post some importants garments teaching videos.pls post some easy step for "v"neck t shirt.
THANK YOU!!!! DO YOU HAVE A DVD TO SELL?
Will the overlock machine struggle over that little bit of fabric at the shoulder seem? Or is it just because of the settings you have it on?
Its a few layers of jersey not leather!
Would you have a link to the pattern for this T-shirt please 😆😆
