My loophole at the store for returns… I was returning an item at target with a receipt but it was over the 90 day policy and they told me they could not return it. So I crumpled up my receipt and said “hi, I would like to make a return but don’t have the receipt” and they returned it😂😂
I used to work at Target at guest service. When I would scan a receipt older than 90 days, the computer would see that the transaction is older than 90 days and would give an error not allowing the return transaction to proceed. You are correct that the only way to override that on the computer is to return without a receipt.

One winter I was doing a jigsaw puzzle that I bought from my local Walmart. When I got the whole puzzle done there was one piece missing. I live alone, no pets, so it's not like the piece would get tracked around the house. House. So I took the puzzle apart. Put it back in the box and went back to Walmart and returned it. I told the lady please do not let this accidentally get restocked. I don't want anyone to else to get this puzzle with the missing piece. They gave me a refund. One year later, it was winter again and I put on my heavy winter bathrobe and put my hand in the pocket and the puzzle piece was in there! 😳
An additional loophole with HSA's is that you can document ongoing healthcare expenses for later reimbursement from the HSA. So, if you're willing to pay out-of-pocket for expenses in the short-term, your funds can grow in the HSA investment account long-term and, when you do finally pull from the account "after 65," you DON'T have to pay taxes as with a conventional IRA but you'll pull the funds tax-free, like funds in a Roth IRA.

When you return an item at one store that you bought at another store, you are technically committing larceny by fraud. OK so I know this isn’t the right video cause I’m watching it on TV and trying to see it on my phone at the same time but anyways I dig grass. Love Dave Ramsey love everything you guys talk about. I’m older I’m widowed my husband was not good with money everything I have and I hate to say it is what God has given me it’s nothing my husband left me I’m dead free my condos paid for because I downsized from my house that we lived in for 30 years and my home is paid for, but the one thing you mentioned is cooking at home is cheaper than needing out I will agree with you on the most part we raised a kids together, so cooking for a large group is definitely cheaper But I will tell you for me it’s cheaper for me to go out and spend five bucks on a burger than it is for me to buy the meat make the burger buy tomatoes, lettuce, etc. to slice one tomato slice one leaf of lettuce I don’t even eat the bun because I’m gluten-free But you get what I’m saying I end up throwing away the rest of that stuff because it’s gone bad and yes I need to like get a food saver and freeze it right and put it away but you can only keep a tomato and head of lettuce for so long I buy little bags of salad, eat one of them and one salad and throw the rest of the bag away I have grapes in my fridge. I’ve eaten like five of them. I’ll probably be throwing the rest of the bag I bought stuff to make tacos I eat a taco and I put the salsa and the sour cream etc. on it and then in a month or so. The sour cream is bad and I throw it away. See you soon I’m saying it’s cheaper to get lunch and burger dinners than it is to cook for one! I know this is a giant run-on sentence. Sorry.. but when my kids show up I cook for them. And I’ll tell you I still have corn beef and cabbage in my freezer from last year St. Patrick’s Day. I will clean out my freezer and tossing that too. Even the green ice cream from last year is still in the freezer. I don’t need ice cream. So now it is no one eating it and I’m throwing it out. And what I do spend money on and I hate to say it but my annual pass which is $1650 for a year and my doggy daycare and all my dogs accoutrements. And the insurance rates we have here in Las Vegas. But basically I’m free on paper I’m worth close to 1 million most of it is tied up and I have a year worth of cash in the bank now I have a son who has a CPA and another son who is a portfolio manager for a boutique bank And they like to tell me how to spend my money, and I invested all wrong but I have to say that I had a 401(k) in Vanguard that was at 66,020 12 and my company changed names basically bought out so that money just sits and that money is now worth over 200,000 And that’s just one account. So I’m thoroughly enjoying compounded interest. And I really don’t manage my money. I put in my 401(k) and pick the retirement fund year at target fund group and leave it at that. And I have to say there was a year I quit investing entirely because it was so mad at the stock market and even with that that 66,000 turned into 200,000 so if anybody is reading this just know that in 12 years time magical things can happen to your money by just leaving it alone and investing it right with your 401(k). And I’ll tell you another tip eating out for breakfast because breakfast is really cheap but if you’re buying everything to make one taco and end up throwing the rest away, just go out and get tacos with burgers.

23:00 I've worked on backend systems in the banking industry for decades. It's funny when these kids like George think everything is instantaneous. The Target thing isn't some arbitrary "rule" They just can't pull up your receipt because of the antiquated systems Target uses (or at least did) doesn't have his purchase record yet. All the stores reconcile their own purchases, then upload to a central database nightly. So the person at the service desk at a different store can't pull up the receipt because it hasn't been uploaded to the corporate master database yet. LOL, the system is probably still written in COBOL.
I thought that this had something to do with systems updating overnight. I also wonder if it has to do with the post void window (when I worked at Target, we could post void a transaction the same day before the charge posts and sends posted charge to credit or debit card if credit or debit is used).
@@jrowlet Yes that all has to do with each individual store holding on to their transactions till the nightly batch window. As a side benefit, you can "undo" local credit card transactions the same day without incurring the transaction fee. Saves a tiny bit of money. In any case, it's not some arbitrary "policy," It's just the way the system works. Some other retail companies post every transaction to the master in real time and those stores can refund your purchase the same day at any store. But those have their own set of challenges.
@@scottkolaya2110 Yes, to undo a card transaction is to do a post void in Target lingo (the post void transaction removes the transaction and card authorization from the card batch of authorizations to get settled that night, and so the transaction never even posts to the credit card, and so it never shows on the statement of card transactions that gets sent to the cardholder by the credit card company). This makes post voiding a sale different than doing a return to the sale (a return to the sale does not remove the original sales authorization, and so on the cardholder statement, the cardholder would see the original sales transaction as a line item on the charges portion of the statement and then the cardholder would see the return transaction as a line item on the credits portion of the statement). Post voids can only be done the same day before the sales transaction card authorizations get settled between Target and the credit card companies during overnight batch processing (if the sales transaction had occurred on a previous day, post voids are no longer possible, and so a return transaction becomes the only way possible to refund the money from the original sales transaction). I learned these truths about how Target information systems do sales, returns, and post voids as a result of having worked there previously for years.
I was happy to hear George confess his questionable returns to costco. I heard him talk about this in a former episode, and I questioned his ethics then.

How does the HSA as a retirement account work if you can only put so much in every year and your employer requires you to use it all by the end of the year or the money disappears?
Based on my understanding HSA stands for health savings account and it's used in conjunction with a high deductible health insurance plan. The money rolls over from year to year if it is not used. While FSA stands for flexible spending account and it does have a use it or lose it parameter.
No HSA is use it or lose it. That's an FSA. HSAs are triple tax advantaged. Just invest the money and let it grow. You can reimburse yourself down the road when you need the money but you'll need the receipts.
I love their water. My daughter used to work there and bring me a water every day. I miss that about her working there. I feel weird going just to get water lol

What if I’m flying and I arrive where I expect, but part of my plane flies off, am I entitled to money? I expect to arrive in one piece, but I expect my plane to also arrive intact.
I know that when people survive plane accidents, they generally get refunded the tickets plus get injury settlements on top of that (which are generally income tax free because personal injury settlements are not generally considered income). For example, everyone in the plane that Sully landed on the Hudson got their tickets refunded plus got $5,000 per individual in injury settlement. By the way, airlines might legally be bound to refund tickets in accidents because when planes crash, the airlines can no longer honor the contracts in the tickets to have the passengers arrive on time at the intended arrival time. If a vendor does not deliver the good or service, the vendor has broken the purchase contract and must refund the payment (or never collect the payment in the first place if the good or service was provided on credit). The contract of a plane ticket is called a contract of carriage. It is good to read that if you can.

What was this annual pass of $1650 for?
Where is Lindsey??? And when will she back?
My parents said I was 13 at ponderosa until I could probably drive
You guys are hilarious! Next time I buy a house I’ll make sure there’s a backyard for family burials.
The refill deal with Starbucks is that it doesn’t matter what your original purchase was, you can get a free refill of a drip coffee, cold brew, iced coffee, or black, green, or herbal iced tea.
Unless y’all are talking about the rapper Ludacris, it’s ludicrous.
100%
I feel like calling it Ludacris is just a millennial thing. Like do they love anything more than calling something Luda? 😂
They're definitely NOT talking about him.
It's an intentional play on words
@@katyedwards3935 They are, and I love it
I’ve learned when I modified my house they added a bubble of the balance and was clueless to my mortgage this was before I found you .
I learned every contract I’ve ever seen is wrong . My advise is read every contract twice have someone knowledgeable to read it outloud twice too . Don’t sign any contract you don’t understand
With the Starbucks refill, unless they have changed the policy, it should work for any initial drink purchase. I haven't been back to Starbucks in awhile, but I often bought a latte and then get a iced coffee refill.
One of the terms that I read in the fine print of my apartment contract said it is not allowed to leave cassette tapes overnight in your car 😂😂😂
Why? Is this a joke?
@@jrowlet They hadn’t updated the contract in like 20 years, so at the time they didn’t want cassette tapes left out because it increased car theft 🤷🏻♀️
Loophole - would you do multiple mobile orders at fast food to take advantage of multiple app promos?
That is a lot of food. Do you plan on eating that in one sitting because fast food goes bad quickly and is often bad when reheated?
@@jrowlet for example, if I go to Dunkin’, I might do one mobile order for a $2 coffee and have my passenger do the same so we both get the app promo price. If I did one order, I would have to pay full price for the second.
@@courtneyemerson5747 I guess if you have more than one person to split the food. Just ordering at multiple places seems like a lot of food if you are just one person consuming all of this food.
The look in their faces discussing Puerto Rico!😂🤪🧐
Great information. Loved this episode.
When is Sharon coming back?
One I heard in an "Unethical Life Hacks" video is that its illegal not to FILE your taxes, but not illegal not to PAY your taxes .... not that I am suggesting it as a good idea, just a "financial loophole" that I've heard before
We received a kitchen aid mixer for our wedding we took it out of the box and didn’t use it for a year, but then took it back to return at target with no box and no receipt a year later. They only returned because it was on our wedding registry
If you read peacock's streaming agreement they have hidden Kevin from the office famous chili recipe
Hey, what’s wrong with living in Puerto Rico? It’s a beautiful island and it’s part of the US. And Puerto Rican food is awesome and so are the women 😉. Yes, I’m Puerto Rican 😂
LOL, the system is probably still written in COBOL.
no one should be expected to understand how information systems work unless they have studied it.
Holy moly…COBOL…I hated needing to learn that in college, almost 30 years ago…yikes! But I wouldn’t be surprised if you were right!
Love a mocktail, have you tried Ritual from your mocktails? No promo here. Just wondering if ya'll use it...
I was happy to hear George confess his questionable returns to costco. I heard him talk about this in a former episode, and I questioned his ethics then.
Best Buy / Geek Squad had a computer warranty policy (back in 2005, not sure if still in effect), after 3 qualified repairs and they can’t fix it, you can get another computer of the same value.
I’m surprised the car lemon law wasn’t talked about.
How does the HSA as a retirement account work if you can only put so much in every year and your employer requires you to use it all by the end of the year or the money disappears?
Are you thinking of an FSA? I have one of those and I have to use it or lose it. I don't know about HSAs
My HSA is use it or lose it, too
Find a HSA that doesn't mine doesn't. Mines been compounding for two years since I can't contribute to it. And I've had it for maybe 4 lr 5 years.
Starbucks does have THE BEST triple filtered water though for free. I always get one when we go into a target and the lines not to crazy 😅
I love their water. My daughter used to work there and bring me a water every day. I miss that about her working there. I feel weird going just to get water lol
I like to use the free coffee refills at target starbucks. I get a latte before shopping and then grab a cold tea or iced coffee on my way out.
I usually skim the terms and conditions. It's not practical to read them word for word.
Keep track of your medical expenses that you pay with money not in your HSA and one day you can reimburse yourself from your HSA TAX FREE for every expense you had!
Keep all those receipts for the audit!
@@jrowlet you betcha! Got every one of them as PDF's!
I bought a 220v shop heater that was new in the box at a garage sale for $10, I looked it up online and it was regular $99.99, but turns out there was a recall on that model, so I took it to the store that sold it and they gave me a $99.99 gift card no receipt. Worked out pretty good 😂
What if I’m flying and I arrive where I expect, but part of my plane flies off, am I entitled to money?
Because sometimes people have to keep moving forward and they have no other way than the loophole
I think it’s disturbing how many people buy houses or condos and don’t read what they are signing. Like they have no idea what the HOA says or what is covered by their fees on a condo…
Grapefruit juice and cream of coconut...wouldn't that curdle into a funky citrus milk? It's a zero out of 10 for me....
George is giving me bossy bottom energy this episode
😂
I cremated my grandfather a few years ago, he's in an urn in my house, can I still bury him and get the tax break?🎉
I think the word you really mean is ludicrous hahahaha
At Aldi, they have satisfaction guaranteed on their products or they replace the product and give you your money back. It's free. Milk a little sour, return it they'll replace it with the same milk and give you your money back.
Facebooks terms and conditions basically give them access to everything on your phone.
8:52 Rachel reminds me of Alexys from Schitts Creek 😂😂😂 “i think i have like new balances”
I just love this show!
Had a friend who for years visited garage sales and found Sears tools and returned to company and had them replaced for free.
Too bad Sears is going away.
yall ever recommend cashing out 401k to remove student loan debt? Were under 35 so we have plenty of time to reinvest in the retirement.
The Starbucks refill counts if you're waking around Target with a built-in Starbucks. You can shop and then go get your refill before you leave!
😮❤
How do they even know if you ever left the store, especially since the store can be big and has a second set of doors on the opposite side from whatever side Starbuck's is on?
I like to drink along with these episodes.
It's 5 oclock somewhere?
Rachel, put a link to where we can get your super-cute earrings!
I got excited about the graveyard tax loophole since I own 17 acres of land😅…. “Worse places than Puerto Rico”??? …. Loved Rachel’s ear rings!
There is some bizarre Guam loophole in the tax code that screws over the taxpayer
Just saying, be careful teaching your kids that small lies are ok Rachel. They may tell big lies later in life.
I was thinking, what would have happened if something bad happened. Now you want to sue...
Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got to talking about investment and money. I started investing with $150k and in the first 2 months, my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and get more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.
@JacquelinePeters03 However, if you do not have access to a professional like Clementina Abate Russo, quitting your job to focus on trading may not be the best approach. It is important to consider all options and seek guidance from reliable sources before making any major decisions. Consulting with an AI or using automated trading systems can also be helpful in managing investments while balancing other commitment.
@JacquelinePeters03 Clementina Abate Russo is her name
Lookup with her name on the webpage.
@JacquelinePeters03 You are welcome .
I bought a drone from Amazon for my son and had a warranty on it. Well it broke and the warranty was such a pain to use. I did look into it but there were all these hurdles to jump through. So I said forget it, so I just bought another same drone from Amazon and then started a return and returned the broken one. Amazon doesnt even look at what is being returned, they just give you a refund. So....guilty as charged but def easier to do it that way.
Movie investing is the craziest tax loophole I’ve ever seen. We could invest $125k and write off $470k of income. Crazy! Our problem was all the investible movies were trash and we didn’t want to support them. Now I’ll be giving the government $134k eww..
Can you use a college fund as a retirement like the HSA can? I don't qualify for an HSA because I have va benefits
Bought a battery for a drill cause I was 2 hours away returned it after finishing the job 😂
Now we know why the pyramids are so big. Those Egyptians; avoiding land tax.
Our daughter is convinced George is barefoot 😂
Customer service worker here. Amazon will refund if you just say you did not receive it. Or, request a replacement and send the original back for a refund, keeping the replacement. Happens every day…
Wow
You can only do that so many times before they flag you
if you live in a home for 2 years that was previously a rental you can sell it without 1031 and pay no taxes on profit appreciation
Exemption for capital gains is only $250k if single ($500k if married) on personal residence.
You still must recapture depression.
@@lorijharman-runyan6433 That would be recapturing depreciation. I would hope that you would not recapture depression.
Should always read terms and conditions. Agreeing without reading Sam as signing a contract without reading it.
I have Sauccony and always buy it whenever I need new sneakers.
I don't like grapefruit or coconut 😅
I've gotten a new pair of nike shoes my teenage boys. And george would love to hear my new/free pair cost more than the one I got originally.
I did need to show the original receipt. Online.
We returned a motion sensor trash can to target after using it for months because it stopped working
unfortunately California taxes HSA as income if you don't use it all.
My ex used the loophole on a house he bought a home rented it supposedly to his mom the rolled it into a house that he supposedly rented to his daughter
Is their an HRA retired people can participate in?
Starbucks is seriously over hyped/priced. We need coffee on road? McDonalds or if really spending Dunkin.
Download their apps. All of they give free items or discounts.
She looks like Candace but white version 😅
Rachel doesn't like coffee? I'm going to have to stop watching her. She's talking complete nonsense. You're my guy George.
I'm waiting for the day when Rachel actually gives a drink a bad rating.
It’s happened.
She must have really not liked it then. It seems like she'll say she's not too crazy about a drink and then give it a 7.
I swear they have done this guilty as charged question before. I feel like Rachel had some clothing item or something. I dunno for sure, could be mixing with something else
ludicrous!!!! please
Is George the male version of Karen? 😂 jk
