I lived in Worland until last summer, and I used to take this drive just for pure pleasure. I would turn around in Shoshone, and drive right back through. Thanks for the post, it brings back memories.
Wind River area has always been good for fossil hunters....provided you are not afraid of a prairie rattler now and then. (yes, they den up in those rocks, and stay close to a water source). So you think...ok, I"ll go somewhere else right ? Wrong......those buggers can be anywhere. Granted...you might not see one...but if you ever do....you"ll think twice.....especially if it was a close encounter.
Good information...For fossils I don't say no, for rattlesnakes I'm not used to cuddling. The Wind River region is very beautiful, and the road that “winds” along the river is unforgettable. In France we have calmer snakes... Thank you for all your comments see you soon on UA-cam…
I drove all over the country in a semi, this is by far my most favorite road I have ever driven

Thanks for posting this. Its one of my favorite drives, and I appreciate it a lot
Thank you, it is indeed a fantastic road
We did this drive last year during a trip but I'd forgotten what a fantastic drive it is. Thanks for posting/sharing this.
I'm reading a Longmire story that takes place at the three tunnels and wanted to see what it looks like. Beautiful.
Read "The Highwayman" by Craig Johnson and you will appreciate this even more.
"Yep" ... reading it now (for the second time).
