Hi everyone, I was born in Syracuse in 1970 by Italian parents. When I was 1 year they brought me back to Italy. Seeing these images makes me think about what my life would be like in Syracuse. For almost 50 years a continuous "sliding doors". That was my house, damn it! My mother often tells me about falls due to the snow :). My father worked at the Crouse-Hinds Company. Alexander
I was born in November 1970. Still here. Pop was Sicilian/Italian, mom was U.K. Crouse Hinds is one of the only surviving businesses still here, that was here when you and I were born here.
Cameron Williams Racist is just a term to mask the truth. Whenever a white neighborhood turns black, it turns into a hood like what you see in the video. Not hating in black people, just stating the truth
I remember when "the bricks" were bricks and had only flat-roofs. (Insane for a climate with such extreme amounts of snowfall.) I remember when they brought in sloped-roofs to install upon "the bricks." I remember walking the southside, driving through the west side, and all my friends in between. Hanging by the reservoir on a blue-sky day. Good memories. Keeping Syracuse in prayer.
I was born and lived in Syracuse for 22 years. You definitely touched on the crummy parts of town. I used to go to school off Midland Ave and there was a Pizza place nearby called Sabatinos that we jokingly called "Stabatinos" due to the fact that the owner was killed there. That being said, the weather is the real reason to stay away. I moved south just 6 months ago and I don't miss the +100" of snow one bit!

The South Side has the worst reputation, but it is basically the further South, the better the neighborhood is. I was raised here and it’s not that bad people make it seem like you hear like fuckin assault rifles every night but it ain’t like that at all you only hear gun shots like 1 time a wee k 2 times at tops usually the worst you will see is like a car jacking or someone getting jumped but for the most part it’s pretty clean and houses are kinda shitty but not as bad as places like Detroit or Chicago
I visited my father there as a teen in the mid-70's. He lived on Merriman Ave a block from Geddes St. It wasn't at all bad there then. We used to walk all over the place at night. But the South Side was the bad area then. After My wife and I lived on Merriman Ave from 80-86 and it was still a pretty good are except for Shonnard.Seymour and Otisco Streets along with the south side. Some good times then. Bars like Poor House West,Stonewall's and Highland were really fun places then. The welfare people always spoke of moving to the North Side like it was paradise. The area started turning to shit in the early 90's.

Felecia Jones Yeah, the Crescent is serious. With that said, outer 19th Ward and outer NE are solid mixed and highly/mostly Black areas of the city.
Yes, Rochester is a bigger dump.
Mr. Beats "The ave"
+Tommy Truth and Buffalo is an even bigger one.
@@ckh937610 Why mention race?
I’ve never heard of this city before.
Nothing To See Here 😂😂😂😂😂
Unless you are from New York state or you follow college basketball you're not gonna hear about it.
It's pure gangs all over
i live here and as another person said unless you live here or follow college basketball you wont hear of it the only thing syracuse has is SU basketball and its loaded with poor families not enough jobs and tons of drugs this video is mainly the west side but all sides are getting bad now a days id say the south side is worse then the west side now.
Even the eastside has its problems tbh
So... What it live to live there? I might move there soon
Don’t lol trust me.
It sucks generally speaking. Not sure of your living arrangements but bring a good jacket and a shovel. Prepare to watch your car rust out quicker then you could ever imagine. Be prepared for people with dreary dispositions. Avoid police. Don't live in the city proper.
Do NOT live in the city. Live in the suburbs.
You passed my house
This ain’t half as bad as it is daily
Tom Cruise is born here
True, but his parents were smart enough to flee the city.
This isn't that bad compared to other hoods
This place looks boring AF
Anfield Gang Basically...If you don’t start anything, you are pretty much cool.
It is
It really is
It really is lol
It is lol that’s why everybody kill each other 😂

@@BrianPacini who gives a fuck
Im from Syracuse this is far from the truth
I wonder what Syracuse is like between the 1960s and 1990s.
It was very nice until about the mid 60's.
I know, then all of those goddamned jobs left.
No they left later. LBJ's social programs started the decline.
@@4thdoctor284 It is an all out war zone today.
