The Town of Gettysburg is most known for the notorious battle that took place in and around the the area in July of 1863, but there is more to the town than simply the Battle of Gettysburg.
A little known fact is that some of the battle took place off the battlefield and in the streets right in front of the people's homes. This tour shows you the best things to see in the Town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Dine in a historic restaurant like Dobbins House, see how the Battle of Gettysburg impacted people in town at the Shriver Museum, see the battle in perspective at the Gettysburg Diorama and History Center, stay at a haunted bed and breakfast at the Farnworth House, and stroll the historic streets with the many eclectic shops, restaurants, bars, and hotels.
Gettysburg is more than the historic battlefield and this tour will show all of the things you must see when you're off the battlefield during your Gettysburg experience.

      Hi David,
Yes time does indeed fly. I actually brought my two year old daughter there too- so soon I'll be saying the same thing. Gettysburg is a truly inspirational place and a must see for any American to appreciate the struggles that our forefathers endured. Thanks for watching and please subscribe to this channel for more history related travel videos, if you haven't already!

2:17 mark last Sept did a late night Dinner there great staff and good food.
2:44 mark The old Blue Parrot lol in back down stairs they had a dance club were the collage kids would go lol had many good times there esp the loaded Nacho's, haven't tried Gettysburger yet
3:35 mark Dobbin house never ate there, we drank while doing the pub crawl / the Gift shop is deff worth hitting lots of great stuff esp if you looking for gifts. and they have a new out door dinning area
6:12 OMG the Dinner had MANY meals here as i could walk too it from my townhouse , good food was open 24/7 but last trip down found out the hard way due to staffing problems they close early on Sunday.
9:33 mark that was the go too place for dinner after work (Sweeny Tavern ) the beer garden is a must if you like to people watch and deff try the Bangers & Mash
Great job, yeah a trip to Gburg can turn into a foodie trip real fast too lol you should look into going back in July for the 160th and see what the town is like when it's at peak tourist season.

      Hey 2104,
Thanks for watching and all of your input!
The restaurants in town are all very good and I will definitely have to check out Gettysburger myself.
I recommend the Dobbin House, the food was good but the ambience is what makes it- especially if you are interested in historical restaurants/pubs. Will have to check out Lincoln Diner too when it is open, it had weird hours and I wasn't able to eat there. Did you know the tavern and bed and breakfast are supposedly haunted at 9:33.
And yes I definitely want to go back for the 160th anniversary this July. Will likely be a huge turnout because 160 is a big year. Stay tuned for that!

@@ProjectGaiaTravel i'll be in town for the 160th and looks to be having a meet up with 2 other youtube channels "Project_Past" & "Forward Gettysburg" dinner & Drinks & i think we are going too walk Pickett's Charge on July 3rd (they both will be filming stuff for there channels)
yeah the whole town is active, i had a townhouse on Buford Ave that was active, and we used to go out ghost hunting very active all over. even at the Peace Flame behind in the treeline is rumored to be a mass grave , several reports of activity in the woods.
yeah last July 4th we stayed out on the field till 9ish and the Park Rangers will clear you out, but it fell on a sunday and all the restaurants closed at 9ish bars were open but couldn't order any food,
for food you deff need to try Hunts Battlefield Fries esp the Breakfast good & cheap the S.O.S. is so GOOD,
the PUB at the Federal Point Inn is also very good and underrated the Boom Boom sauce for your fries heck yeah lol

Great tour of one of my favorite towns😁. My husband & I have date night every other week or so💞. Love how quaint our town is! It’s so hard to see all the “history” when we live so close by. I’ve been thinking of doing a Gettysburg Video on just cute things to do that doesn’t involve history for couples, friends & family. There’s SO many things!!! We love it!

I just had to look up what "Gaia" meant and was not surprised to learn the definition...
Gaia is the primordial goddess of the Earth. The Gaia hypothesis is a scientific theory that proposes that the Earth is a self-regulating system, and that all living and nonliving things on the planet are interconnected. The hypothesis was first proposed by James Lovelock and Lynn Margulis in the 1970s, and it has been the subject of much debate and research ever since.

If you get a chance you can do a video of the CSX line from New Freedom Pennsylvania and all the way to Hagerstown Maryland and at the New Oxford train station is very famous for a few different steam and diesel locomotives too and it is open on the 1st and the 3rd Sunday`s of every month and starts on the First Sunday in April and ends on the 3rd Sunday after the last Sunday in December before Christmas and New Years eve. So if you get the chance please come see and try and do a video of the whole train station, old mail car and the caboose too
