I was nineteen when Live Aid happened . I remember it well. This was not a Queen audience that is what is so amazing about this. He just knew how to hold an audience in the palm of hands. RIP Freddie
Arguably the greatest live performance in the history of rock and roll (due to the size of the audience worldwide and the significance of the event). Queen blew away a lot of legendary performers at this concert!
Robert Stevenson yes I watched ‘t live some people didn’t want to perform after him cause Fredi rehearsed-they rehearsed(he once told) they have been preparing for Live Aid -only few nights though but that’ was enough
I absolutely love your reaction to the concert. This is exactly what music is meant to bring to people. We all lost Freddie too soon but he lives on in videos like this.
The amazing thing is, is that the crowd were made up of fans of a whole range of groups and solo artists including Dire Straits, McCartney, U2, and Phil Collins. The concert was held for the starving people of Africa. Queen stole the show and the set is considered to be the best of all time. It makes it even more amazing that Freddy was ill that day and his doctor advised him to cancel Queen's appearance. Freddy chose to carry on and the rest is history. The two songs you asked about are - 'Hammer to Fall' & ' Radio Ga Ga'
I couldn’t get a ticket but watched the whole day on TV. When we went to pub that evening, all anyone said was “Did you see Queen”, they were awesome. I was lucky to see them in the 70’s when they were not really rated, even saw the Night at the Opera tour, even then, they were fantastic and had a solid following. Live Aid blew into them another orbit. How to put 72,000 in the crowd and about 2 billion around the world (about 25% of the global population) in the palm of your hand and do anything he told them, that is what he did that evening. Never be seen again will power like that. Pity David Bowie who had to follow that set!! My Daughter is 21 and a huge fan of Queen and The Boss (guess I did something right in her growing up) and been to see them a couple of times with Adam Lambert, he’s good but not Freddie. But he fully respects the Freddie legacy. The best showman of all time, the best lead singer and boy could he play an audience, RIP Freddie You should listen to Brighton Rock, if you didn’t know Hammer To Fall, then listen to this masterpiece. Never ever underestimate the ability of Brian May, Roger Taylor and the great John Deacon on guitar who also wrote a number of Queen hits. Watch the Live Magic gig at Wembley, my daughter grew up with that soundtrack and even as a kid, it’s all her friends would be allowed to play in her room! Always remember, No Synths!
BBC quote "It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time with an estimated 400 million viewers, across 60 countries"
Okay, that was hands down the best music reaction video EVER! Watched the entire show live on MTV when MTV actually played music, all four of their videojockeys were in Philadelphia, making inane comments throughout. I've got ten hours on videotape I recorded from the tv. Freddie Mercury and Queen were unbelievable, many concert experts say this was the best live performance in rock history. Love you guys, first time I've ever visited. I'm 70. I was half my present age back in '85.
I was there , it was a electric experience Queen definitely stole the show , it was a very long hot day , i slept outside in a doorway overnight to buy the tickets to go , when i say slept in truth we didn't do much sleeping there was a lot of people also there like my self that just couldn't miss out on such an event , and it was well worth it , i still feel the emotion when i watch these reaction videos
Fun fact: 1. Freddie was dealing with a throat infection during this. 2. David Bowie was next in the lineup and told Queen as they walked offstage, "How the f*ck am I supposed to follow that?!" 3. Freddie LOVED audience participation, hence the back and forth ad lib, so he would have LOVED you guys. 4. Brian May, the guitarist with the fro, is an astrophysicist studying space dust. Thank you guys for the experience. I felt like I was partying with you 😂 And yes, I subscribed.
@@JohnLeePettimoreIII thank you for the correction. He finished his doctorate in 2007 and got his award the following year. Looks like he was tangentially involved in the New Horizons project as a consultant as it passed by a Kuiper Belt object around Dec 2018-Jan 2019, but I imagine it's difficult to keep your mind on space when you're touring at age 70-ish lol
I'd like to add a little to this. Queen had a huge chip on their shoulder coming into this as they were tired of hearing that they werent really a "cool rock band" so Freddy came out knowing he followed U2 but had not only Bowie but also The Who ANNNDDDD Elton John performing after whom was quoted as saying to Queen when they came off stage " You Bastards!, You stole the show!!!" ...This performance put Queen into another stratosphere
Steph, I knew you were a woman after my own heart the moment I saw you show up with a chardonnay in your hand. Hooray for a woman reactor! What a lovely tribute you gave to dear Freddie at ~27 minutes, and with you and Jay both bowing at the end. This is the best reaction by far to this amazing event. I love how you both were in sync with each other and the audience. I also didn't know the two songs, Radio Gaga and Hammer to Fall, the first time I watched it. It made this video extra special-- experiencing it like many of the crowd did, coming to this music festival and being surprised by, "Wow, those guys are good!" Thank you so much for the beautiful reaction. Love and peace.
And Queen or Freddie had a pure voice, no auto tune and no need as his voice is the instrument. I watched the whole video with you guys and he impressed me. I will follow your new ones. Keep on keeping on!
You know that you've left your mark on this planet. When a sixty thousand crowd at a greenday concert sing the entire version of bohemian rhapsody before the band come on stage
1 Bohemian rhapsody 2 Radio GA GA 3 hammer to fall 4 crazy little thing called love 5 we will rock you 6 we are the champions All original songs no remakes At 9:48 there is a bonus song all in one full day
An amazing reaction! Live Aid was a year before I was born but Queen’s performance is legendary! The thing I love is how they timed their performance to perfection. There’s a line of lights at the front of the stage showing how long their set is, and it goes red the very second they raise their hands at the end of We Are The Champions! Such pro’s!!
Allegedly elton John burst into Queens dressing room and said that Freddie stole the show. Millions were watching all over the world. Freddie stole it all. Not even the Beatles at there height could even dream of this.
Fantastic show but remember The Beatles were known by virtually everyone in the World from China to India to The Polynesian Islands. That's never happened b4 or since ..lol
LOL.........We are both agreeing that both Bands are /were great but your logic, my friend is hilarious because firstly this wasn't a Queen crowd but a collection, as you know, of many major Artists then so Queen can't take the credit for the size of the worldwide audience though, undeniably, they gave the greatest performance by a Country Mile and Secondly, by your logic, every other Group on that bill were also equally great because they TOO attracted that crowd....:)
Freddie would have been 73 on September 5th. I miss him still, there will never be another! What a fabulous band of brothers they were, John, Roger, Brian and Freddie...this was QUEEN!
Lady Gaga got her name from a friend of hers that was talking about the song Radio. There will never never be another Freddie Mercury! Most prolific song master of Arena Rock! Miss his music!
I remember sitting outside Freddie house in London on the day he died. I cried so much for several weeks. Sadly, I was to young to attend Live Aid. I was 9.

Crazy little thing written by Queen. Freddie loved Elvis so he’s channeling his inner Elvis....this is blues 101 back beat bass....and great in it’s simplicity, except it’s Freddie so...the crowd gets in every song. ❤️😎🔥🤘the joy on your faces is why I’m here. Please do more live music, Rock from this era is full of talented musicians and vocalists at a time when everyone toured. Live Aid alone is a walk thru music history for sure.

YOU WILL LOVE: "One Vision." It was written as a dedication to Dr. Martin Luther King. The live version at Wembly 1986 is wonderful but you may want to watch the studio version to catch all the words more easily. (The last line is just Freddie being Freddie. The man had a great sense of humor).
According to an interview with Geldoff, donations were dropping off and they were about to meet with the producers to make some huge plea to the world audience but they didn't need to once Queen started playing. Some say they saved the day.
@Scorpio Way I agree, the only other news from that day that seemed to make any noise was 1) Elton teaming up with George Michael singing Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and 2) Phil Collins performing in both England and Philly.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love was written by Freddie. It was their first #1 hit in the US. On the same album as Another One Bites the Dust which also hit #1. That album, The Game, is pretty close to flawless. It has another great song on it called Dragon Attack which you would love. I recommend the studio version over the live version.

There are very rare moments in human history when something special happens and time seems to stand still. Hate, war, racism, political agenda's, social standings, and personal strife is forgotten. This is one of those moments that we are lucky to have on film and for those in attendance were lucky to see it happen with their own eyes and hear it with their own ears. There are no words to describe this perfect storm of cacophony of sound and music. It rocked the foundations of the Earth and shook the very firmament of the heavens. It still echoes across the winds of humanity if you only take the time to listen.

Freddy = 100% crowd controller
Freddie was the greatest showman of all. He knew how to get everyone involved. May he rest in peace. Never be another
"A funny microphone in one hand and the world in the other." -I forgot who said this, but it's hella accurate
@Randy Rodes MJ and Bill Cosby... 2 artists I used to love and won't listen to anymore.
Bullshit Led Zeppelin were still are the greatest live band eva
@@davidfreeme7989 But they sucked that day. Even Page admitted that.
@@davidfreeme7989 floyd
Greatest performance broadcast live on national tv, I will give you. But I've seen many performances that were better. Prince, MJ to name two.
The best showman of all time, the best lead singer and boy could he play an audience, RIP Freddie
You should listen to Brighton Rock, if you didn’t know Hammer To Fall, then listen to this masterpiece.
Freddie knew how to control an audience and made you love him blessed we were with Freddie mercury
I Cried like a baby when I saw your reaction to this. Freddy is Life Xxx
Freddie Mercury had 3 Billion people in the palm of his hand that day.
Inti Cheveyo seriously, you ruined the sentiment. Get your head our of your ass and appreciate this moment in music history. Snowflake!
Oh ya it was broadcasted on tv.. I forgot
BBC quote "It was one of the largest-scale satellite link-ups and television broadcasts of all time with an estimated 400 million viewers, across 60 countries"
3 billion? are you demented?
stop spreading unrealistic figures
@@RoverWaters it was actually 1.2 billion
Finaly some guys who know what real music is. Greeting from Romania.

Did you see how the crowd in Philadelphia reacted to Queen? I would love to see a video of that reaction.
2. David Bowie was next in the lineup and told Queen as they walked offstage, "How the f*ck am I supposed to follow that?!"
3. Freddie LOVED audience participation, hence the back and forth ad lib, so he would have LOVED you guys.
4. Brian May, the guitarist with the fro, is an astrophysicist studying space dust.
Thank you guys for the experience. I felt like I was partying with you 😂
And yes, I subscribed.
I laughed so bad when red Mr. 2 about David Bowie haha
He isn't studying it currently. That was indeed the subject of his doctoral thesis, but he has long been a PhD.
Poor Bowie :) Not really....
"Afro-man" is Brian May, one of best guitarists of all time and Phd Astrophysicist.
And he still has his Afro, though signicantly whiter now.
Greatest rock guitarist as recently voted by his peers. Oh and phd
1 Bohemian rhapsody
2 Radio GA GA
3 hammer to fall
4 crazy little thing called love
5 we will rock you
6 we are the champions
All original songs no remakes
At 9:48 there is a bonus song all in one full day
Phil White the last Song at 20:48 was called“Is this the world we created”
When you can get a stadium of over 70.000 people sing and clap along then you know your doing it right.
A stadium where some wouldn’t even be the biggest queen fans either
He had everyone.
What a performance from all four though.
+tv and the other stadium
I lived 2 miles away from Wembley and we opened the French doors and we listened to it that way and it was LOUD.
They said 90 000 people
I would s... myself to sing in front of so many people🙈
An amazing reaction!
@@Isleofskye this was watched by almost 1 Billion. As great as the Beatle's are, they aren't this Great.
@Charlie Chaman come again?
That directed at me or sky?
I was there...Queen stole the show.
Oh how I envy you! I love Queen!
Lucky you! Freddie is a legend.
Yes they did. Showed up Led Zeppelin,The Who
If you were there you are a lucky person
So lucky
Freddie would have been 73 on September 5th. I miss him still, there will never be another! What a fabulous band of brothers they were, John, Roger, Brian and Freddie...this was QUEEN!
Interviewer: What instrument do you play?
Freddie: The audience, darling!
I was 9.
I was 15 years old..... It was the most amazing thing I'd seen on TV.... I thought this will help to change us....bring the world together..... a wonderful time of change...
This was a week before my 10th birthday. I remember watching it on MTV. The entire Live Aid is something I will never forget.
I was 15 also :D
I thought it did too...im class of 84 and we all thought our generation put an end to racism and gay prejudice.... What TF happened?
I love when you say 'do that shit Freddie' as you know it was his style and the only one who could do that... Love it
Thank you Steph n Jay for letting me listen to the songs without interruption, plenty of time between songs. You have got it right and I have subscribed.
“Hammer to Fall” was written solely by Queen’s guitarist Brian May. Radio Gaga - was the second song. This was the best group ever in history :D
I just love how they look drunk, happy and how they like Queen.
Cheers people.

One of the best reactions to this video. Totally getting into the 'occasion', and Steph definitely loves the strutting Peacock that is Freddie Mercury. Peace
It's Friday night, I did 4 hour shift at the food bank until 8:30 tonight and rewarded myself with a 6 pack of Guinness Stout to sip on. 🍻Cheers from Winnipeg, Canada🇨🇦!
I was 15 in 1985 and living in Vancouver, Canada when this concert was happening, if time travel were possible this is one of the Top 10 shows I'd want to go back and see live.
Love Queen. Good drink is lemoncello an sprite its a lemon liqueur
"Crazy little thing called love" was written by Freddie while sitting in a bathtub listening to Elvis.
In Switzerland.
While on tour.
It took him 10 minutes and only has five chords cause he only knew how to play 5 on the guitar.
Freddie was about to cure cancer in that tub but the water started to get cold so he got out and lost the train of thought.
Yes
We have our kings of Rock Freddie was the queen of rock and we all know that the queen has all the power in the house rip Freddie
I’m a huge fan of darling Freddie and the guys (Queen) but I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you guys watching this remarkable historical performance from the guys. We all miss him so much, I have seen Adam Lambert with Brian and Roger and I must say I was really impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the show. RIP Freddie you were one unique individual ❤️❤️
The Smile on Steph's face is priceless.
Steph you get it girl! I mean you feel it in your soul and you really get it! Thanks for sharing that. It's a beautiful thing
Steph showed that she truly loved Freddie and not just saying it to get subscribers. I felt it and I got emotional too.
According to an interview with Geldoff, donations were dropping off and they were about to meet with the producers to make some huge plea to the world audience but they didn't need to once Queen started playing. Some say they saved the day.
No, they saved the world that day.
yes they say that Queen opened up the fone and they just kept ringing. They save the day Freddy Mercury and Queen saved the day
@Scorpio Way I agree, the only other news from that day that seemed to make any noise was 1) Elton teaming up with George Michael singing Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me and 2) Phil Collins performing in both England and Philly.
Queen truly saved the day, that day!!!
He really did❤
Thank you for helping to make Freddy Mercury immortal! So glad new generations are discovering Queen. Love you two!
Freddie Mercury wrote Crazy little thing called love as a tribute to Elvis. He wrote it in less than 10 minutes. Legend
Freddie had his own look, and it usually was the opposite of everyone else.
I straight up LOVE U GUYS, y'all are great! The fact that GREAT music can bring people together no matter the genre of music, the greats stand up forever, & is timeless!!
I love jay's face expression.... genuine surprise and enjoyment
Watched this so many times and it never gets old.
Their set was as follows: Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions.
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is a Queen original designed to sound like it should have been an Elvis song.
Freddie wrote it in 10 minutes whilst in the bath 2 years after Elvis died. It was dedicated to Elvis. Freddie is the greatest of all time.
I was 15, at home watching this on TV. I was hanging with friends, R .I P . Freddie, love, and miss you❤😇, I have some of these songs on vinyl record, lol. The good old days. No one will ever be like Freddie, one of kind, unique .we need more like him. I have always had a crush on Freddie, since I was little. He had that charisma, ❤❤🎶🎵🥁🎤
"Stand Your ass up, unless You are too drunk then sit down." . In 1985 I was 14. My God, it seems so long ago but timeless at the same time. I LOVE your reaction. This is the BEST reaction to a Concert I have ever seen. You brought out the inner Teen in You and Me. Now i don't feel so silly with my reactions. The Testicles and Balls comment got me. You two would be a riot to accompany to a concert. Thank you for sharing this. Merry Christmas and Congratulations on a new Subscriber.
Hey you guys, thanks for featuring this, your reactions to seeing this sent shivers through my spine, much as this performance did on the day back in ‘85 when I was 13! Bless you guys!!
I just turned 17 on the 8 of July just before this . I remember it like yesterday. We watch it on tv . Queen was the best band that played that day they had everyone there and on tv in the palm of their hands . There will never be another Freddy or Queen that will be like these . Forever loved by everyone. RIP Freddy you will be missed deeply
Steph mimed along like any true Freddy fan would. *raises a drink to the lady*
Merry Christmas, Sippingtons.
The greatest front man of any band now that's how you hold the audience in the palm of your hand fabulous Freddie

I attended the Live Aid show. In 1985 I was 15 and as a rowdy rebellious kid into rock music just HAD to be there
1985. I was 15. I saw Live Aid on MTV it was a whole day concert. I saw Queen come on and Perform and I knew they stold the show. No one expected it but they did. Even me I was like hey I like those songs.
You expect 100% from freddy but get 200% pure talent with an awesome voice. In my opinion best band ever.
