- The Late,Great Jim Johnstone playing accordion(Hohner Gola Incidentally)at Jamies Scottish Evening, around 1992. Starting off with Jigs and Reels then Giving a rousing rendition of his Famous Laird and the Mason,The Laird of Drumblair and The reel The Masons Apron. In The Band are Jack Cooper on Drums,Billy Craib on Bass Guitar,Bill Hnedry on Keyboards and Marie Fielding on Fiddle. Enjoy!!!!!
Saw Jim play at Jamie's Scottish Evening show when I visited Scotland in 1993. His band was great and the show was hosted by Bill Torrance and featured Mary Cameron. Good seeing Marie and the audience clap their hands as he played his medley.
Jim was the first top accordion player I shared the stage with. I was only about 12 or 13 at the time. He invited me up to play along with him. As a young accordionist this was a dream come true. Miss him so much, my idol.
Probably the best accordion in the world played by definitely the best Scots accordionist. Slainte Jim! :)
It is hard to believe that no one will ever see music like this ever again as Jim was one of the best accordionists around and when i found he passed away i just could not believe it Sleep tight Jim Keep playing on.
had the honour and privilege of working with Jim on many occasions ...a true gentleman...!!
