I felt a similar (yet, obviously, not the same) experience with the quite disturbing because real The Loudest Voice with Crowe. Something raw, perhaps, an evil Will McAvoy to some extent. But the fact that it is based and most likely watered down version of true human scums makes it even more memorable, in my opinion.

~ My exact thoughts as well, he's been an eye-opening discovery, since finding The Newsroom on Amazon streaming. He interviews really well, too, so it's not that he need's Sorkin's words in his mouth, though it sure can't hurt.

Sorkin found an embodiment for his voice in Daniels. Just as he did in the entire cast of the West Wing headed by Martin Sheen. They aren't just reciting lines, but incarnating them.
The previous generation had Gregory Peck as their "conscience". (Taking on racism in "TKAM", anti-Semitism in "Genteman's Agreement", ethics in "The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit", etc.)
If you haven't seen it, check out Daniels in the miniseries "The Looming Tower". Not Sorkin, but equally powerful.

Max Max Even more so than Sheen I think. Martin is amazing, but you watch interviews with him, and he’s truly an actor’s actor. Amazing but he is able to hold a distance between himself and his roles and then able to just instantly sink into these legendary parts. Even though Sorkin loves to write for and to actors, Sheen is perfectly comfortable in the fact he shares some values with, but is NOT the kinda guy Bartlet is. Jeff on the other hand, is BUILT for Sorkin. Truly. And he’s so invested in politics and getting fired up about them, he really seems embody Aaron more writing TO someone than them acting to a character he wrote.

Pacino Heat 😁 I was trying to say that it doesn’t take a genius to suspect that the number of accusations of pedophilia and/ or sexual abuse, etc. directed at guys like Epstein, Drumpf etc., is likely true. Alex Jones is no genius (nor did he have to be) to put two and two together, so to speak. I guess I tried to summarise this because I knew what I meant, but of course no-one else can read my mind. I just need to be more explanatory.

    1) "...I don't know enough to run for office...", he says.
    2) Proceeds to show us that he knows a lot more than some others who have jobs in Government!
All you need to be a good politician is to be a decent human being!
Which is something that some people who work in the White House are just not capable of. (Yes, we are looking at you, Stephen Miller.)

    • @Wustenfuchs109
      @Wustenfuchs109 5 років тому +24

No, you did not understand him. He really does not know enough - he said he knows what he wants and does not want, he knows why, he can argument that, he is decent - but that is not nearly as enough. If one is to run for a political position the MAIN think that he/she needs to know is how the system works so that they could get SOME things that they want, done.
It is NOT a world where nice ideas win you what you want - it is a double crossing hell of political end economic interests, shifting loyalties and shameless lying. If you want to get even the simplest thing done, you need to know by heart how the system works.
And that is the fear I have (even though I am not an American) - Lizz and Bernie have very good ideas, and given the fact that they are in various offices for quite some time, I guess they know the system well enough to MAYBE get 10% of their ideas come into life. Because, that is the best they can hope for - political system is inert and it would take generations to come to the point where ideas like theirs could be done to the full.
I am not afraid because they will, maybe, manage to get 10% done - that is a HUGE thing for US right now. I am afraid that ideologically blinded and optimistic will see that 10% as a defeat instead of victory.
      Why?
Because that is the exact same thing that happened to Obama. He came with nice talks of change, but once faced with political system, he could barely get anything done. He started pushing in the right direction but people saw it as not enough, a defeat, they wanted it all right there and now, within those 8 years. The moment they saw it ain't comin', they voted for a different type of person.
Politics, especially in USA, is an incremental thing, moves very slowly. And the ideological blindness is what will keep US down - people wanting things done right now and if not, it is a defeat, then switching up in the next terms, always going one step forward one step back - while the rest of the world, especially dictatorial countries that are the main enemy (China and Russia) are driving an obstacle free highway behind a single idea.
That whole current US mentality that comes with the newer generations, "I want it NOW!" is what will keep the country down. You can't get it now, radical changes take generations to build but years to destroy.

It's not hard to know more than half the politicians in government. It's also not hard to have WAY more common sense than the ones who are smart. I am not slow by any means, but I know a guy who could make me look like an infant with crayons by comparison on tests. If you knew him in real life though, you'd wonder how the hell he doesn't require a legal guardian with him at all times for how stupid and gullible he is.

    • @wpl6661
      @wpl6661 5 років тому +118

I'm from Michigan as well but I can't speak for the whole state, only myself. To me, empty promises are still empty. No president can bring manufacturing jobs back. It makes no sense to corporate america at all. Things need to be made well for as little money as possible because we are a consumer driven economy and society. And our country is a part of the world and the world economy. It makes no sense to buy a product at twice the price. Think of it as organic food that costs twice the price or more. Who buys it? A large segment of the population? No. Organic food is a niche market still because of the cost. And Americans are already in debt up to their eyeballs. Things which cost more won't make their lives better. Cars which cost more they can't buy. It just adds to their pile of debt.
We aren't in a sustainable economy. It's going to fall apart. So what we need in politicians aren't conmen. We need real human beings who will try and help us the best they can. Who will try and make government responsive to the needs of the 90% and not the 10%. The 10% own all the stocks. They control Wall Street. The 90% own a small portion of the total stocks. They get by, month to month, year to year. And the only thing they can do is turn out and vote to remove the current occupant of the White House. Because any of the democratic candidates are better than him. Those 87,000 that voted for democrats and left the presidential ballot blank gave us Trump. Clinton on her worst day in office would have been far better for the country and the state of Michigan than Trump. She would have created a professional working cabinet. She wouldn't have spent 60% of her day watching Fox News and tweeting. She wouldn't have turned the CBP and ICE into the gestapo. She wouldn't have tried to destroy the ACA to create millions of uninsured. She wouldn't have insulted our allies and embraced Putin. She wouldn't have started needless trade wars with our largest trading partners and threatening others.
This is a zero sum game. If you reelect Trump then you will have zero sums in your bank account eventually because he is bankrupting the country. We've coasted off of the efforts of the democrats in 2009 which started a long lasting recovery. Only 3 republicans voted for ARRA. That was at a time when we had a minus 9 GDP and were losing 800,000 jobs a month. Now our unemployment rate is less than 4% and thanks to Trump and republicans in congress our deficit this year will be more than double what it was only 4 years ago. Obama and the democrats inherited a messed up economy and did something to help the American people. TARP reestablished banking stability. ARRA started the recovery. ACA brought insurance to millions who didn't have it and needed it. They spent their political capital on these things to benefit the average person. Trump and the GOP spent their political capital on a huge tax cut for billionaires and millionaires which increased our deficit by at least 150 billion a year. They called it a jobs bill when job growth per month under Trump since then has been less than it was per month under Obama in 2015. And the increase in our GDP was less than half of a percentage point. That's 1.5 trillion in cost for less job growth and a GDP boost less than a half percent.
So I plead with all Americans. Please remove Trump from office. Vote for the democratic nominee. They may not be great but they will be better for our country than Trump. He is the American Caligula and he is as much a traitor to this country as Benedict Arnold was.

I wish I was as morally superior as Jeff Daniels, I wish I had supported a woman who profited at the expense of poor Haitians, laughed when the child rapist she defended beat a polygraph and was cleared of a rape charge, whose failed foreign policy in Libya led to Americans being murdered which she in then lied about, who terrorized her husbands sexual assault victims, takes six figure speeches on Wall Street where she stresses the importance of having public and private stances on the same issue, intentionally mishandled classified information, and exchanged political favors for cash under the front of a phony foundation. We have the largest freshwater coastline of any political divide on earth and we want that water fresh, clean, and teeming with fish. The upper peninsula is basically a wildlife park with some small towns in it and we want that protected. Health care is big too. Most of the old jobs came with health coverage and pensions which now aren't being paid to our seniors. Lots of people with no health care and no choice but emergency rooms. Our education system is also terrible. Unions need to return but be regulated and corporations need regulation. @@BolshevikChris Here's the thing: the current welfare systems that are in place have too much bureaucratic red tape that you need to go through just to receive the benefits. Couple that with the fact that if you get a job again and the gov't finds out that you can financially support yourself or your family again, the benefits will be cut for most of those programs. The pre-conditions are not attractive and does not give the individual a sense of optimism for the future.
On the other hand, the Freedom Dividend is given to you NO MATTER YOUR ECONOMIC SITUATION. Sick, healthy, poor, rich, jobless, job... You will (in theory) always receive the $1,000 just for being a citizen of the US; a RIGHT. PLUS: you still come out ahead if you decide to opt-in to the FD, AND it will stack with SSDI; essentially an add on for social security. It's a win-win for the economy and the individual, able to take off the existential and economic stress of those that are just struggling to get by.
As to your second question, Yang is not funded by any corporation or Super PACS. He is simply getting by (and I would argue) rising simply on the donations of individuals who see that he is not a charlatan like Trump. The only reason why he is running for president is because of the problems that we are dealing with now, as well as what he foresees if we do not alter our trajectory. The Freedom Dividend is a response to the coming wave of automation and AI that will eradicate the jobs that most people take for granted. What good is a $15 minimum wage or tax cuts to the rich when the every day American can not find a job? He is not concerned with shareholders like Trump: He is concerned about the future of t(his) country, and unlike the other Democrats that are running, he has ideas and solutions that can bring America to a new future in the 21st century.
I would hope you can learn a little bit more about him if you haven't already and really dig deep into his broader vision for the country, and I hope my comment was a sufficient response. :)

In Gettysburg, Good Night and Good Luck, Newsroom and To Kill a Mockingbird he is the actor of choice. Only Jeff Daniels could possibly compete with the great Gregory Peck as the iconic Atticus Finch. He is simply the finest actor active in the world today. If only he would run for President. Unfortunately for us, modesty is his greatest virtue.

As a black man myself I truly hate black victimhood and white guilt. Black people and white people are human beings along with other ethnic racial groups. So I don’t need anyone to pity me at all because it makes me cringe. This is what they should be teaching the younger generational people about life. Here are four simple steps to have a less troubled life; step one: graduate from high school, step two: do not have children before you get married, step three: hold down a job and step four: do not commit crimes. If you follow these four simple steps your life would be less harder. I have a message for all human beings in this world for the last time you cannot demand love you cannot make someone like you just because somebody does not like you that does not mean your a horrible person and especially it does not mean your oppressed. The truth about human nature is that you cannot fix people it is up to people to fix themselves period. Forcing someone to like you is similar to someone forcibly to respect you when respect must be earned just like love should be earned. If you have not done anything wrong to anyone in your life then you obviously do not have to apologise, or beg for forgiveness, or even feel guilty or even carry a weight on your shoulder so grow up and live your life normally with those who are closer to you like your families and your long time friends. I understand we humans all want love, respect and support but you cannot get everything you want so be grateful for all the good things that you have in your life. If you think the world owes you something then that makes you a paranoid sad individual.

    • @jimreily7538
      @jimreily7538 5 років тому

That song, The Consumer's Song, was released in 1999.
The song was talking about outsourcing. In 1999.
      Think about that.
      Thats FOUR Presidents ago.
      Clinton. Bush. Obama. Trump.
      And the issue remains.
      And people vote Trump.
DEMOCRATS - this MUST be addressed or we WILL lose the next election. And we cannot afford to lose. Another 4 years of Trump will be the end of the USA as we know it.
Supreme Court ? Alt-right. For the next 50 years.
      Federal judges ? The same.
Wrongful convictions are going to go to "hanging judges", who have probably put many to death themselves. Executions will increase.
Corporate control of the government will be complete.
Ivanka Trump will prepare her campaign.
And she'll have billions in corporate donations from SuperPACS. Elections will become about corporate control.
Your views and opinions as a citizen will mean nothing anymore.
The suffering will get worse and worse.
      The decline of Middle America.
The horror of the deportations will increase.
Richard Spencer will probably be working in the White House.
We are - believe it or not, it's the truth - ALREADY at war with Russia.
A cyberwar. This is a new type of war. A new theatre.
If you've ever voted, the dictator Putin's GRU and FSB military intelligence will have that information.
Putin's network of intelligence is vastly superior to the NSA. Because the NSA is undergoing a serious brain drain.
So your name and address and political affiliation (based on voter record) will be in the hands of Russian military intelligence if it's not already.
Why ? Because the Republicans will own the nation forever. No Democrat candidate can withstand an opponent with a battle chest of 5 billion dollars (thanks to Johnson and Johnson and all their friends).
I can't go on. Its too depressing to think about.
And the people who vote Trump are tying the noose around their necks and smiling in blissful ignorance as they walk up to the hangman's dock.

Well, no, not really. I mean, sure Mensch in German means human, but the word does exist in Yiddish with its meaning of "a good person" or whatever the exact definition is. Of course, the words have the same origin, I mean, Yiddish and German are pretty close etymologically. But when Americans use this word, they _are_ actually using a Yiddish word, not a German one, since they don't want Mensch to mean simply "human".
