I wish they would go back to 2d/3d animated movies. They spent a lot more time on developing a solid storyline and character development as opposed to the visual effects which are nice in modern movies but dang, if this wasn't such and original plot and a breath of fresh air. It's got buddy cop vibes, Indiana Jones vibes, even Tzekel-Kan, as one dimensional as his character was, delivered his lines with such conviction and emotion that it made you sort of root for him to rise to higher levels because he forced the other characters to surpass their limits and overcome. A great villain creates a great hero.
Nothing wrong with the way this was animated. Still amazes me that this is over 20 years old. I wish there were more movies that looked like this one design wise. Like actually drawn cartoons. I guess doing CGI is easier than drawing everything

Joseph: King of Dreams The Road To El Dorado And Sinbad: Legend of The Seven Seas are the last 4 movies from DreamWorks to utilize the particular hybrid animations style you see in tRtED. IMO, other than Shrek 1 & 2, DreamWorks has struggled to produce anything that has captured my attention quite like the 4 movies I mentioned above.

I really don't understand why this film was so underrated. the plot was amazing, the phasing is perfect, the soundtrack is 100% on point, and the characters are very well fleshed out, like even the horse has more personality than half of the movie mcs nowadays! it's so bizarre to think this kind of movie was considered a "flop" back then. I'd give anything to see animated films like this again.

Everyone who worked on it has stated it was *hell* to make, the direction changed several times throughout the making of it, leaving everyone frustrated and unsatisfied with the end result. The crew was most certainly passionate, though - the scene with the ball game was almost cut from the film but the staff fought hard to keep it in because it was one of the few historically accurate things in the movie. Doesn't mean I don't love the film. It's an amazing movie, and Tulio and Miguel are just the perfect main characters with the greatest dynamic!
I've always found this song really beautiful but it never used to make me cry.. Until now. I was friends with someone for many years, since 2008. We grew really close, really fast. I've always been kind of introverted but she got me to open up quite a bit. She was the Miguel to my Tulio, and I think we worked so well together. I was always more serious and she knew how to make me laugh. She was always so much fun to be around. Only couple years ago I started to see how something was different between us. Maybe she changed. Maybe we both did. Maybe we both were too stubborn and proud to be the first to give in. But it didn't feel like we were as equal as we'd once been. I did so much for her but, in the end times, got very little back. Not that it mattered to me, I just would have wished to be treated with a bit more kindness, the way she used to. Well.. one day I chose to walk away, and we haven't spoken to each other ever since. I know there's no going back anymore, and I don't blame her for anything.. But goddamn, now that I found my way back to this song.. it really hurts. This is one of the movies we used to watch together. Now this feels so much more personal than it ever did before. I miss all the fun times we had and everything we did together. Now they're only good memories I'll always be holding onto. Back when we went our separate ways, I felt bitter, hurt and betrayed. God I love Spanish guitar. It has the most beautiful sound, and with Elton John's voice here, you can feel the emotion. It's funny too, because my dad always taught me to never say goodbye, always "I'll see you soon," or "I'll talk to you later." Goodbye was always a final farewell.

I don't mean to dump my friendship story on UA-cam, but by God this song makes me more emotional than I thought. I have this friend and we were friends for seven, almost eight years. Now, we've drifted apart. I've tried reaching out, calling, texting-- but she never does the same. I cared about her deeply and she's the greatest friend I've ever known but she's changed for the worst. I saw that I was no longer a priority in her life, so she is no longer mine. I tried so hard for our friendship, but she lacked putting just as much effort as I. I'm sad that this is the way things turned out to be. She was my sister in a sense. However, I always listened too her problems, and slowly she just never listened to my own when I needed her the most. I guess that's a reason we slowly drifted apart as well. I just wish out of all the times I listened and been there for her, she would've been there for me. Just once... I needed her... Now I am left with memories and thoughts of what could've been. I have always related with this song on a deep level because of how many friends I have lost, but it was when I lost someone that I considered a brother where this song got personal. Kadin was someone that I genuinely thought was a brother that I never had. We did so much together in person and online. We’ve talked about everything together and we had a relationship that was unbreakable… …well, the unfortunate thing about society today is that it pushes quite a narcissistic agenda onto people that are open to suck up anything that they see. I was trying to help him steer away from that path, trying to tell him that I want him to get himself away from the narcissistic behavior and recognize that the behavior has been toxic…but he was already too far gone. From there it crashed like the stock market, but even the stock market was able to slightly recover. This was the kind of damage that could break the earth and have it never be repaired. If we truly were friends, we wouldn’t have said goodbye to each other, but he forced a goodbye on me and now I’ll never see him again. By chance that you’re reading this Kadin, I miss you. But I only miss the old you. You were a very wise guy and I had so much respect for you because you had such an interesting take on life. However you have permanently changed for the worse and it’s something that I cannot have in my life anymore. I have always related with this song on a deep level because of how many friends I have lost, but it was when I lost someone that I considered a brother where this song got personal. Kadin was someone that I genuinely thought was a brother that I never had. We did so much together in person and online. We’ve talked about everything together and we had a relationship that was unbreakable…
…well, the unfortunate thing about society today is that it pushes quite a narcissistic agenda onto people that are open to suck up anything that they see. I was trying to help him steer away from that path, trying to tell him that I want him to get himself away from the narcissistic behavior and recognize that the behavior has been toxic…but he was already too far gone. From there it crashed like the stock market, but even the stock market was able to slightly recover. This was the kind of damage that could break the earth and have it never be repaired. If we truly were friends, we wouldn’t have said goodbye to each other, but he forced a goodbye on me and now I’ll never see him again.
By chance that you’re reading this Kadin, I miss you. But I only miss the old you. You were a very wise guy and I had so much respect for you because you had such an interesting take on life. However you have permanently changed for the worse and it’s something that I cannot have in my life anymore. If by some sort of miracle you recognize that you have had narcissistic traits and that you get help to fix those, then I would be able to welcome you with open arms.
