      It's interesting that you should say that, because when I have taught students 1 to 1 on intonation skills, they have often told me they feel like they are singing when they speak English in the way I teach them! It can be a barrier to people who come from countries when the language is spoken in a more monotone manner, as they can feel "silly" when they vary their intonation so much. However, it is quite true that there is an element of music in the way English people speak :)
