Cost cutting on their end, higher prices on our end, almost literally zero difference from year to year. For upgraders, the best deal is probably going to be the S24 lineup once the discounts start flying on the "old" models. I don't know ... feels like Samsung, Apple, AND Google have all just been (pardon the pun) phoning it in for the last 3 or 4 years. The most exciting stuff is from little names like OnePlus or in the brands you can't buy in North America like Vivo/Oppo/Xiaomi. Look at the camera tech they're pushing out that isn't coming to any of the North American phones. Look at where they're pushing tri-folds (guess I left Huawei out of that list, my bad) when Samsung seems to be scaling back on their existing foldables. Where is the rollable tech they've been showing off for years? So far it looks like it's only coming to Lenovo laptops. It's getting REALLY hard to get excited about things like ... OMG THE S25 ULTRA IS GETTING SLIGHTLY ROUNDED CORNERS!!! OMG OMG OMG!!!! Yeah, sarcasm got a little thick there.
Very well said. I'm actually upset by the S25 ultra, I was seriously considering upgrading my mint condition brand new battery. S22 Ultra. But I'm thinking of waiting for better batteries & cameras on the s26U. How sad 😔
Silicon-carbon batteries have a much shorter lifespan compared to lithium-ion batteries. I'm not referring to battery life per charge, but the overall longevity of the battery itself. Silicon-carbon batteries tend to expand much sooner than lithium-ion batteries, or even if they don't, they still need to be replaced far earlier. And let's be honest, most people don't replace their batteries-they just get a new phone. Additionally, optimization plays a huge role. For instance, the OnePlus 13 lasted 11 minutes longer than the iPhone 16 Pro Max on a single charge. The Galaxy S24 Ultra was already outperforming the iPhone 16 Pro Max in terms of battery life. So, clearly, the 6,000 mAh battery isn't doing anything
Samsung is definitely copying Apple, they are going to grow stagnant. It seems people are bored with Apple and the iPhone 16. If Samsung isn't careful the same will happen to them.
It’s tech enthusiast that’s a board with Apple and iPhone 16, and before you say anything, yes the iPhone 16 has not sold as well as Apple had hoped, but for me, Sam is already getting stagnant as they have not updated their design for the last three years, but yet you’re not complaining about that.
Unlike Apple, Samsung has the whole market of other android phones they need to compete with. Being stagnant will be hard because they will constantly have to innovate the new thing to keep up with the rest of the android market that’s gunning for the top
People are not bored with Apple, always remember that. Despite being both stagnant, I think Samsung might get into trouble but not for Apple. Although, Samsung may not get down because that's Korea's number 1 giant corporation. Only tech nerds can appreciate good phones than Apple but an ordinary consumers (the majority) will still choose Apple no matter what.
Samsung is way ahead of Apple. It gonna take years for Apple to copy Samsung's foldable technology, AI, OneUI, etc. It took them years to incorporate Qi into their phones and copy Galaxy Gear as Apple Watch. But sure this cuts both ways and Samsung also copies Apple. They copy each other, but Samsung is significantly ahead in technology, especially in software (OneUI features like overall general smoothness and more advanced features like DeX and Circle to Search (which is Google Lens under the hood), etc.)

Samsung is forcing us to upgrade to op13 and likes by not providing 6000mah battery and 100w charging. And costing 2 times the competition. This is ridiculous.
Jaime, I just want to let you know that this kind of video brings back memories. The daily tech news from pocketnow was a staple part of my daily routine. I will turn on the kettle to boil water for my coffee then sit to check my phone. Once I open my UA-cam app, I will swipe down my screen to refresh the contents and I’m hoping to see a tech news video. I will open your tech news video but I will wait until I made my coffee, then I will drink my coffee while watching your tech news of the day. Believe me, I’m feeling a little frustrated when I don’t see a new video, but I do and have to understand that it is not easy to produce. Also, I rarely care about the deals from the beginning of those tech videos but I never skip them. It’s like a digital foreplay. 😂 I’m simply expressing the nostalgia I’m having from watching this “tech briefing” videos of yours. I am not asking to bring back the old days. My routines have changed, my morning coffee schedule has changed, but I will be happy to have some days to watch the tech briefing videos while drinking my coffee just like how I do it before.
Somehow, i Highly doubt Samsung removing features will reduce the cost of the handset. If anything, it will follow the same "enshitification" like apple and sell the S25U at the same price as S24U AND charge you for the bluetooth stylus. All this to increase their bottom line.
Great content. I'm glad I bought the s24 ultra two weeks ago. Don't have to worry about rumors. As for the sharp corners of the phone. I never feel them. My phone is always in a case.
Honestly the Bluetooth in the s pen would be a deal breaker for me. I loved it since the 9. Way better than using your watch as a remote shutter. Waaay better than using the Apple Watch.
So no Bluetooth spen, less ram on the higher end models, same battery, same charging speed, pretty much same design. Can't wait to spend more money to get the almost the same phone with downgrades in some areas 🤣
As an s24 plus user, I'm happy in a way that the s25 plus will be practically the same. I really didn't want the temptation, and now it's not there, which makes it even easier for me not to switch.
if S26 is more iteration and more aping Apple's moves, Samsung is truly gone. If they're going to continue to copy Apple's direction, at least make a smaller Ultra with an s-pen, that's the one thing I've wanted since they stopped after the Note 10.
The only reason I use the S Pen is to control my camera. So handy and useful for that specific scenario. If they make it like the rumor, I am going to the Pixel side
Tapered iPhone? Man I haven’t heard a rumor like that in well over a decade. That was back when new phones every year were exciting and you looked forward to the leaks, etc. As for the S25, I would call that a redesign. More like a design tweak.
Trying to remain optimistic over the S25 Ultra amid all the controversy 😅 Honestly couldnt care less about the S-pen but can see where taking away features on an already expensive device is not a good look Maybe might just wait for the slim? Either way, Jan 22 couldnt come fast enough
@JaimeRiveraTech They can't keep up with the Chinese. Keeping it same specs year after year will soon end bad for them when the brand is so bad it can't keep up what so ever. Celebrating 5 years with 5000mAh for example this year is not very innovative. And there is rumors they are dropping the vanilla s26 wich makes sense. 4000 mah when others are using better types of batteries and better spec on everything going to change even the fanboys some time. Remember when s2 and there about, when they was among the best phone makers, now with 28th place in dxomark, and everything else in the middle will change the brand if they not stepping up.
I honestly hope Samsung has enough user behavioral data to realize that most people don't use the S-pen that much despite what people say in the comments. People don't appreciate things when we have them and then complain when it's gone.
@@Young_Dab lol just because you stupid boy doesn't use it. Millions of others do use it. Samsung like any other company is just looking for more ways to make a profit, duh. If you dont know how the corporate world works, proves your stupidity. As an executive, I understad their move, even if I dont like it. Money rules the world little boy.
But that's the reason I like android over apple. Options. Why get rid of something when some people do use it and not many if any have one. I know even the apple pencil falls short of the s pen
Who the hell do you think you are? Samsung will know how many people use this. Do you know millions of people around the world? Are they your friends on what's app like? You are an fool!
That's the problem people will complain saying the price is high but when they try to experiment something to cost cut and maintain the price with better hardware peo will be like why did you remove it we didn't use it but you shouldn't remove it that's childish looking forward to the phone looks pretty interesting to me the anti reflective glass is enough to sold me I am using OnePlus 10 but seems like Samsung s25 u will be the next one I am so excited@@keston207
I've watched the phone go from having what I think were triple a batteries and a backlit screen to what they are now. Perhaps that's why I'm content with the evolutionary stagnation we're seeing when it comes to phones. Just means less screen time and the opportunity to pursue other endeavours.
In the cloak of efficiency, companies are keeping us at 1 day battery life since forever! If we don't upgrade expectations they will keep cutting down battery capacity for cost cutting
This is not true! The s pen still has the button but it does not do anything. Older s pens still work, and are the same size. But even older s pens will not enable Bluetooth functionality of s25 ultra. I believe this is limited in software but I do not 100 percent know why.
@AbhayKarman would you really say its worth the trade off when all it takes is a case to enable magsafe funtionality and honestly Samsung should make all there cases magsafe and taking inspiration from magbak when it comes to the s25 ultra cases, in fact Samsung can do it alot better where it doesn't interfere with the spen and your phone doesn't give you this annoying prompt detecting magnetics, by simply putting an ultra thin layer inside the case which blocks the magneitc interaction with the spen. The zfold 7 was rumored to come with the apple pencil technology where it will need to charge as there is no emd layer, so that will probably be removed where the spen doesn't interfere with the magnet, but I still don't see how this technology disables Bluetooth funtionality.
I think the new surface laptops look great, but ya making he jump to snapdragon processors can be difficult with it being so new and people’s programs might not function as they need them to.
As a S23 Ultra user, i really tried hard to make a use for s pen button, and lost many beautiful moments trying to capture photos with it, and most of the time it didn't work, so to me they can remove the pen completely and put a bigger battery or use that space more efficiently! Samsung really need to hire more people on development.
I have both high-end Macs and a top of a line PC but this past holiday season I bought a Snapdragon plus laptop that was on sale for 500 bucks and honestly I love it.
Disappointing news about the S25 series. I was hoping they would at least increase the battery capacity as a nod to the expectations of them using silicon-carbon batteries.
I'm becoming more disappointed with Samsung every release. I'm still rocking a Note 20 ultra... Been waiting for a z fold with integrated spen functionality. Now seeing that they are taking Bluetooth away from the S25 tells me that even if they add the spen (integrated) they'll probably do it without Bluetooth. I guess I'll upgrade to the s24 or finally jump ship and try a Pixel or a xiaomi
The sharp corners on the Ultra for me were more troublesome when pulling out of pockets than it was a pain in the palm. Glad to hear they'll be rounded off. As for the S-Pen; I love it, and happy to know it's there when I do use it... twice a year.
One of the features that's always kept me buying the S Ultra series was the remote shutter control of the S Pen. One more feature they've removed from the line that I always used. I'm becoming less and less of a fan of Samsung. Pixel is looking very appealing!
The S25 Ultra is not really worth of an upgrade to be honest. Like Jaime said, the specs are just near identical and it's losing a wonderful feature with the S-Pen
If they replace BT with UWB in S-Pen then that makes sense to me. Because functionality will stay the same but you can also find your pen just like watch, buds, tags, etc.
Waiting on the S30 line up to see the graphene battery, the 144Hz display and all the cameras sensors in the 200MP. Same for the Z Fold line up. At this point, the S22 Ultra and up are extremely serviceable devices for casual user. Only mobile gamer should consider this upgrade due to the SD 8 Elite, if they have the Note20 Ultra or the S21 Ultra.
Excellent video mate. As time progresses I always wonder realistically what more these companies can do to really innovate the smartphones beyond how incredibly capable they already are across the board. It’ll be interesting from this point on with the S25 and beyond as I can’t see anything beyond minor incremental upgrades.
TikTok is just a time consumer app and in order to get people to get their responsabilities done and focus on priorities it would be a good idea to get that distraction out 😅
Unfortunately, Samsung has been downgrading the S Ultra devices after the S21 Ultra. 40MP selfies downgraded to 10MP. Though they upgraded the main sensor from 108MP to 200MP, that upgrade was meaningless in a sea of competitors that can deliver competitive pics & videos with 50MP sensors. They have been upgrading software and optimizing the performance, which are welcome. But the other upgrades have been most incremental and not super meaningful. They keep taking things away as they do. They will never hit a trillion going in this direction. I use the S24 Ultra as my daily driver. Unless you're a gamer that absolutely needs the gaming performance of the Snapdragon Elite, just buy the S24 Ultra on sale enjoy 6 of the 7 years left in software and security updates. The S24 Ultra is truly the last Galaxy Note. Let's not forget that the form factor (square corners) of the Note was begged for tech influencers. Even you absolutely loved the Note back then and hoped for its return. Don't know how y'all are holding the device. Me and my circle have never talked about this being an issue. Go out and buy the S24 Ultra. Skip the S25 to send a message to Samsung that these downgrades and rising prices are unacceptable!
Missing the Bluetooth functionality on the S-Pen won't be too big a deal to me as I use my galaxy watch to zoom in and take photos anyway. I think the ring will do that, too.
Hi Jaime....great work....yet again...for the ultra I understand all the hype around it and excited to see it soon....not so sure I am gonna get it....besides the curve designs and few specs not much difference than the 24. Even less so for the 25 plus which I was really interested in early till I got the hint that not much is changing there either. Gonna get a new phone but will probably get a 24plus - didn't like the sharp curves of the 24 ultra at all (to me it looked dated). Thanks again👍
I’m someone who upgrades phones every year, and I often switch between the latest and greatest of Apple and Samsung. This is the first time that both have disappointed me. I currently rock the 15 pro max. The iPhone 16 lineup was disappointing and now the S25 lineup seems just as disappointing. Guess its gonna be my first time checking out a OnePlus device! Excited to test it out!
"shrinkflation." It refers to the practice of reducing the size, quantity, or quality of a product while maintaining the same price, often used by companies to offset rising production costs without raising prices overtly.
Great content. The S25 Ultra looks nice but as a Z Fold 5 user, I'm going to roll the dice and wait for the Z Fold 7. I'm looking forward to more rumors and your thoughts on Sammy's next foldable
Talking about surface pro for business they were released last year with Intel lunar lake CPU. Is MS going to release new gen with Intel arrow lake or panther lake this year.. I will be more interested if they come with panther lake.. rumored it is 1.8 nm architecture while still being x86
No silicon carbon battery No real quickcharge (90W and more) No 1 inch camera censor (almost same censor for 4 years) Samsung still won't stop copying Apple (both the good and the bad).
@@arcaine101 Not easy for my country. Oneplus 13 still not for sale. And honestly 7 year software update, dex and pen support more attractive to me. I will wait 1 more year with my 4 years old phone. We are paying too much money for phone because of very high taxes. Almost double price. So if i want to buy a good phone, it must has a good software and a good hardware. My phone supports Android 12 offically.
The higher the wattage, the quicker it throttles as power goes up. Even if I had 90w, it would probably never charge at 90 because I rarely let it get to zero
The S Pen hypothetically losing Bluetooth functionality is just a rumour at this point. Wait until the Unpacked event to find out for sure. No point losing our minds over this at the moment.
I had a surface with a Snapdragon for a few days to test it. Generally, a very nice device but the issue I had was driver support with older printers etc. They just didnt exist so I returned it.
Honestly every news that I see talking about the S25 Ultra makes me want to keep my S24 ultra. Very good phone. Super fast. Don't like the camera results but is cool. Unless Sammy do a fantastic trade in. I think I might skip the S25 Ultra.

Trying to remain optimistic over the S25 Ultra amid all the controversy 😅
Honestly couldnt care less about the S-pen but can see where taking away features on an already expensive device is not a good look
Maybe might just wait for the slim? Either way, Jan 22 couldnt come fast enough
I really enjoy these videos. Succinct yet comprehensive.
Appreciate you. Glad you like it.
RIP SAMESUNG.
Why would you think?
7:58. But I care enough about Bluetooth spen functionality to simply not buy the phone when due for an upgrade
Do you have a Galaxy Watch?
@@lukastemberger don't like watches on my wrist. Hate the feeling of watches and finger rings
@@donniethesportsguy893 Ok, that's fair.
6:30 Samsung is finally mentioned
I've watched the phone go from having what I think were triple a batteries and a backlit screen to what they are now. Perhaps that's why I'm content with the evolutionary stagnation we're seeing when it comes to phones. Just means less screen time and the opportunity to pursue other endeavours.
Love new beginnings Tech Briefing will be a success…
Appreciate your support
Battery battery is my only concern like is freaking 2025 5000mah is pathetic tbh.
Depends on how efficient the chip and screen is. But yes we have been on 5000maph for a while now for samsung.
In the cloak of efficiency, companies are keeping us at 1 day battery life since forever! If we don't upgrade expectations they will keep cutting down battery capacity for cost cutting
It's 12 Hour battery what is bro baffling abt

The Spen "WILL HAVE BLUETOOTH" Evan Blass has confirmed this with the official rendering of the Spen with the button.
This is not true! The s pen still has the button but it does not do anything. Older s pens still work, and are the same size. But even older s pens will not enable Bluetooth functionality of s25 ultra. I believe this is limited in software but I do not 100 percent know why.
I hope so ! It's one of the best functions of it !
It's just bcs of the magnets on the back man
@AbhayKarman would you really say its worth the trade off when all it takes is a case to enable magsafe funtionality and honestly Samsung should make all there cases magsafe and taking inspiration from magbak when it comes to the s25 ultra cases, in fact Samsung can do it alot better where it doesn't interfere with the spen and your phone doesn't give you this annoying prompt detecting magnetics, by simply putting an ultra thin layer inside the case which blocks the magneitc interaction with the spen. The zfold 7 was rumored to come with the apple pencil technology where it will need to charge as there is no emd layer, so that will probably be removed where the spen doesn't interfere with the magnet, but I still don't see how this technology disables Bluetooth funtionality.
The S Pen Button has never been for Bluetooth.
You keep saying that TB is a WIP. I don't understand why; it seems to be very nicely done and well-polished to me.

I think the new surface laptops look great, but ya making he jump to snapdragon processors can be difficult with it being so new and people’s programs might not function as they need them to.
If the SPen doesn't have the same functionality, I'll be sticking with my S23U for at least another year.
Right. Doesn't seem so
Hi Jaime, ur doing great 🔥
Whith what I have been hearing my decision to pick the Oppo Find X8 pro was super easy. Didn't bother to even wait for the big Samsung launch.
I love the Oppo x8pro this year. I wish they were here in the carriers 😢
Why is won't do a surface with ARM is because it's just as or more $ than a comparable x86 pc.
arm supposed to be cheaper
I'm becoming more disappointed with Samsung every release. I'm still rocking a Note 20 ultra... Been waiting for a z fold with integrated spen functionality. Now seeing that they are taking Bluetooth away from the S25 tells me that even if they add the spen (integrated) they'll probably do it without Bluetooth. I guess I'll upgrade to the s24 or finally jump ship and try a Pixel or a xiaomi
Loved that Note 20 Ultra
The sharp corners on the Ultra for me were more troublesome when pulling out of pockets than it was a pain in the palm. Glad to hear they'll be rounded off. As for the S-Pen; I love it, and happy to know it's there when I do use it... twice a year.
Subbed! Lotsa love from downunder 🇦🇺😍
Currently on a 16 pro but I’m seriously considering the s25 U! The curved corners are a huge improvement
I actually like the 16 Pro a lot
Still basically the same as my s22 ultra. I don't care about AI at all. I'll keep my 10x optical zoom
Yeax 10x zoom is so cool.
Nope

I mentioned them on the video 😉
This gonna be the first Ultra and buy and they wanna get rid of the Bluetooth S pen? Smh come on Samsung
The ultra bezels and corners are finally up to par with the rest of the line up.
It's fun to see how an enemy fights in court for his right to abuse you :D
Chapters, please
Jaime it was a pleasure meeting you at CES
If they replace BT with UWB in S-Pen then that makes sense to me. Because functionality will stay the same but you can also find your pen just like watch, buds, tags, etc.
Can't wait for jerryrigeverything video abt the iphone slim 😭
Haha you and all of us. He did praise the new iPads though
no more bluetooth in the S-pen? Whut? the one thing i missed from samsung in my vivo x200 pro is gone lol
Thanks so much, and totally. I ponder the same questions
Or just don't buy anything
Samsung going backwards
Trump was against tick tock all the way up until the CEO gave him some cash.
That's all it takes
🤷🏻♂️
Samsung better keep the the Bluetooth with the Penn! I predict there will be a lot less sales for the Ultra if they take it away.
no Bluetooth S-pen.... that's it I'm out... gotta wait for the 1+ Open 2 now
Missing the Bluetooth functionality on the S-Pen won't be too big a deal to me as I use my galaxy watch to zoom in and take photos anyway. I think the ring will do that, too.
Yeah, if you ALWAYS have your watch on. The SPen is always in the phone
@@Docfly62 I always have my watch on. Chances are that I'll need my watch more often than I'll need the S-Pen.
I think the One Plus 13 has killed the S25 Ultra already before it’s released and probably will be Android device of 2025.
Like your videos, but as a consideration, could you put "Tech Brief" instead of , I feel it would just flow better and make more sense. Thanks 👍
Thanks for your feedback, but is the logo. That’s how branding is built 🤷🏻♂️
I don't know wht the sharp corners are an issue here? Otherwise you rock your phone without a case on.
Love your content and style. Thanks.
Not sure why anyone would want a tapered phone. How would that feel in hand with weight, would it be top heavy and more fragile at the bottom?
First Pixel felt great. You could barely tell it was tapered, and that’s the trick. It leads to a better camera bump
I think it will be a good idea to wait for the official release regarding S-Pen. I'll believe it, when I see it.
You’re new to tech news aren’t you? 🤣
@JaimeRiveraTech correct, sir 🙂
I pray the BT is still in the S pen.. Pray 🤞🏿
Liked an subs. Like the new channel. God speed Jaime
Appreciate you! Thanks so much
Not buying it, going backwards is not an upgrade.
And ive bought every new variant every year. Have to have bluetooth spen at the least.
Now all of a sudden you care about the S-pen? Smh
No silicon carbon battery
No real quickcharge (90W and more)
No 1 inch camera censor (almost same censor for 4 years)
Samsung still won't stop copying Apple (both the good and the bad).
Well, you could always buy OnePlus phones.
@Emrullah_BASER Then just buy the S24u when the s25u comes out. It will drop in price with plenty of freebies.
The higher the wattage, the quicker it throttles as power goes up. Even if I had 90w, it would probably never charge at 90 because I rarely let it get to zero
i wonder if the s pen has UWB support instead of Bluetooth. it would be more responsive and faster latency
Not sure that would work, but we’ll see
The S Pen hypothetically losing Bluetooth functionality is just a rumour at this point. Wait until the Unpacked event to find out for sure. No point losing our minds over this at the moment.
Need to try one of those Snapdragon laptops
I had a surface with a Snapdragon for a few days to test it. Generally, a very nice device but the issue I had was driver support with older printers etc. They just didnt exist so I returned it.
I hope they make a small variant of the ultra
Honestly every news that I see talking about the S25 Ultra makes me want to keep my S24 ultra. Very good phone. Super fast. Don't like the camera results but is cool. Unless Sammy do a fantastic trade in. I think I might skip the S25 Ultra.
It is not cost cutting because the leaks already show higher prices as well, this will be a bad decision if you cannot at least use your old one.
It will be nice if you can put timestamps in your videos. Amazing content.
Thanks!
If Samsung gives me $750 plus more memory, a case, etc. In a tradein, I will be very happy.
Currently I'm using the s23 Ultra and not really seeing a reason to get excited about the s25. Not sure if I'll hold off another year or jump ship.
CLICK BAIT. Why you talking about other stuff first half of the video
