@residentzeroso the K371 I have I put Senn Momentum 3 leather pads on them which makes the treble and upper-mids smoother (it removes the “grain” from the K371). I just got the Azurys a few days ago. I think they sound very similar to my K371 (with the leather pads) but are a bit warmer on vocals, and sliiiiightly less treble. There is a biiiiit more mid-bass than my K371 too. For technicalities, I don’t think the soundstage is any different than my K371 (once again, with the leather pads). But the main problem I have with the K371 is how everything becomes a jumbled mess on busy tracks or tracks with multiple guitars or effects… otherwise they sounded great. So far on my Azurys, I haven’t noticed the “business” I love them, though! Love the color and build quality. They are my main closed backs now. Overall they are better than the K371, but I wish there was a biiiit more treble/bite to the sound and I’m kinda anti-EQ (not the thing itself but because I need consistency across all my sources). But hey, brains adjusted to them already so it’s no issue now. The K371 does sound a bit too “throaty” or something if that makes sense though, as a result of the added bite.

I would never believe someone who said this to me a year ago, but I feel like Audeze’s $300 Maxwell solidly beats all these offerings. I own the Stellia even and I go to the Maxwell way more than the Stellia.
I agree, except they fall off my head when I look up or down.
My brother, Maxwells weights 590g, while HD620s only 326g. This is 40% less!
@@tragikomediant4278 Maxwell weights 490 g

My homie, that kind of comment is exactly what the ‘I would never believe someone’ preface was for.
I’m telling you as someone who owns these headphones or has owned them, Focal’s lower end closed backs are not much more comfortable than the Maxwell and severely fall behind in everything else. I can see the Sennheiser consideration (though that’s also probably going to give you a headache after a while), but I promise you Focal’s closed backs really suck compared to their peers.
@@sephondranzer I managed to get HD620s for a good price, and have been using them for couple hours already. So far I am more than happy with them! Comfort is great (no jaw-breaking as I was bit afraid), earpads are isolating and nice - but I haven't tested them in warmer environment yet. Soundwise these are the best closed-back out of the box I have ever had (DT770, 99 Neo, K371, EAH-A800).
Whats your favorite Mac Miller project? I know hes one of your favorite artist and saw swimming in the background. R.I.P Mac Miller
Sony mdr 27m2 for me it seems
Happy Gilmore l&g 😖
What may be the best closed back for EQ? To hell with stock tuning, all I wish for is a lack of pronounced sharp resonances/cancellations (like that dip in HD620's upper mids) and an overall good linearity in upper midrange and treble.
Did you discuss with listener about the HD569 at all? I know he likes it from a discord comment he has posted.. but I don't know how much he likes it compared to 620s
HD569 are absolute dogshit and that comes from Sennheiser fanboy.
I had a 598 closed, at the time people said it was just like an HD 569. It was ok.
i think at this point iems do sound better than full sized closed headphones, at least under the $1000 range
@residentzero can you suggest a specific model for me to check out? i am so curious as this is the first time i hear about flatheads
Will you be giving up your Bathys for the Azurys? #askingforafriend
Bathys is my irreplaceable airplane companion because of its ANC, different use cases for me. I usually use a closed back wired headphone when I'm editing vids at home.
Come on DMS, a graph's commenting video, not tracks as an example or anything. I expected more, from such a review, especially on the subjective part.
GM ☕️.
Done chasing Sen’s headphones..they refuse to do anything more to fill the gap between 800’ s and Orpheus.
I live my OG 650…but the this seems to have the 600’s name ..but it ain’t.
Have a great day Douglas ☕️
There's nothing within 500 bucks of the 650 that's as good -- it's just how good the 650 is (and I'm including the 600 and 6xx along with it)
In my headphone collection..it’s the 650 then it jumps to LCDX (21)
Or just get the elegia for 400 and eq
Elegia has plenty of issues EQ can't fix though.
I have the Elegia as my best closed back, and EQ it with Qudelix 5k and Resolve's profile from an old video (which I can't seem to find - suspect it might have been taken down). No complaints from me, the EQ fixes the boxiness and results in great tonal balance, combined with punch and detail. It's still a strong entry and good value these days, so long as you can EQ (but definitely would not recommend without).
The Elegia benefits greatly from solid leather earpads, especially improved bass and overall clarity.
@mattrismatt I've heard conflicting info about this. While I think it's generally agreed leather pads (eg. Dekoni) help the bass, Resolve has talked about how they're no good for the Elegia's treble, which is otherwise very good. Do you have experience with them?
@residentzero You hate improved bass and overall clarity?
Great video. Thanks a lot.
too much to ask for some: under $100, $100-200, $200-500 closeback headphones list? kids are little and have to listen at nigth in school days...but i refuse to not listen at all...😂
Sennys are ugly and no surprise bass is weak. Focal's design language is as old as the hills, but I actually like the looks, even in blue, much as I loved the fragile Elear many moons ago.
I bought them and was not happy with either one actually. The 620s has a very wired midrange tonality and the azyrus sounded a bit blunted for me.
Agree with your HD620S impressions. Midrange sounds very wrong and the treble was sharp and dark at the same time. Much rather use my K371 with Dekoni suede pads for it's better tuning even though the HD620S is more detailed.
@@rene837 k371 was a big miss for me as well. Mine has 4db channel imbalance at 1000hz😅😅😅 I am actually ordered the drop aeon X closed on its way. Hope that one won’t disappoint me.
@residentzero my current fav is dt770 pro X, all other are (semi)open backs (really like Fostex t-rp line, Sony MDR-MV1)
Thanks DMS! Focal Radiance blows them both away. It is worth spending a little extra to reach the next level.
Personally I can't stand the radiance, or really any of Focal's closed backs. I've tried them all except the Azurys.
@@Lead_Foot Based on your previous experience there is a pretty good chance you won’t like it. 🙂
Without EQ wouldn't touch it with a stick and with Bathys is better value imo.
I just like the Sennheiser house sound. I love the 6XX and the 600, I like the momentum three and four, so I’m very interested in the 620s
@@imabeliever85 I wished it sounded as good as the 6XX/600, but it doesn't.
ok, but how do they compare to the Susvara Unveiled ? seriously guys, Hifiman should have sent them to all reviewers, so we could have reviews the day they are announced. in the meantimg i'm not going to watch anything else
The Susvara Unveiled is an open-back, and it's ten times as much as both of these headphones combined (and knowing Hifiman, the build is probably worse).
@@Krankynator and ? did you stop reading my post after the first 10 words ? that was a joke that;s why the next word is "seriously" this is their first vidéo since the announcement of the Unveiled, and it should be about that, Hifiman screwed up their product launch
You don't send $200k worth of headphones to reviewers for marketing. Silly idea.
@@hartyewh1 yes you do !!, of course you do ! Bike manufacturers do it with 15000$ bikes, and that's far more complicated, many brands do this, that's how things are usualy done !, and you call that silly, amazing, are you just looking to disagree with someone ?
@@hartyewh1 im not talking about giving them away anyway !, the get them back, and sell them "open box" at the same price the real sales are made
Thanks but I wish you would have left out the loud 'background' music.
HD 620s suck. I lose all the bass if I move my chin by a cm.
Don't even need to watch Sennheiser is god to dms 😂
Last
before i watcing through this review!i have message to sennheiser from here too!How the fuck can you made this headphone with this old style which is so outdated an unstylish, ugly and specially nowadays ,and for this cost!!!???Come on!!!!You can do better, its 2024!I know its somehow balanced, but seriously!Atleast gave me the option the balanced cable for this price!
And i start hearing about the guy who take care about the sound this headphone.......Iam not a commercial guy...I love you sennheiser, maybe i love the 2 neumann headphones more! But this deal is more than RIDICULOUS!
One's a decent closed back, one's a Focal (lol).
Both are trash - But what to expect from a trash-reviewer?!? 😂
And you know this how? Based on?
So why are you here, watching this "trash" reviewer...? 🤔🤨
I don't like em either but "trash" is a bit strong
How do these sound compared to the Fioo FT1?
